  2. Nice sentiment and nicely done, Dick, I am certain they will think of you and Sharon often, even without the gift. Good people like you two make fond memories and are probably thought of much more than you know. I am certainly glad I got to know you through this forum. Too bad we can't meet sometime. God Bless! Spirithorse

  6. Hi, Old Joe, Great pattern from Alex and great cutting! As for pricing your work, if you figure your materials and then add the price you want to make per hour for your time times the hours it took to cut, you can see if your area will pay that price for your work. That being said, if you had stack cut four of these, you could have definitely reduced the price but, I would not reduce it by 4 just because you got 4 done in about the same amount of time it would have taken for just one. Unfortunately, some areas of the country just aren't willing to pay for "hand made works of art". Everyone wants a bargain price. God Bless! Spirithorse
  7. Well done, Dave! I like the novelty of the in-laid leaf quite a bit also! God Bless! Spirithorse
  8. I just revisited this post to see your project and saw the post about how you made the corners. Thanks for the tip as well as thanks for sharing your beautiful present for your sister. God Bless! Spirithorse
  9. Excellent work, Brenda, Thank for sharing and I really enjoy hearing some of the colloquialisms and customs from around the world. I was in the U.s Navy and had the good fortune of visiting 18 countries and enjoyed that portion of the military tremendously. God Bless! Spirithorse

  15. Welcome to the forum! I am already a bit envious because I can't afford an Ex and I don't have all the cheap wood y'all seem to have available in Tennessee. Hope to see some projects soon. God Bless! Spirithorse

  18. Nice work! I hope the wife was happy to receive this when she got home. I kind of liked the rounded corners until you told us about the possible problems they can create. God Bless! Spirithorse
  19. I'm cheap fragile so I bought this from Harbor Freight Tools because it is slightly cheaper than Dremel, slightly less bulky, and comes with the flexible shaft. I don't use it as much as I thought I would but, have used it enough that I think it has paid for itself for the jobs that I have completed with it. https://www.harborfreight.com/96-volt-cordless-variable-speed-rotary-tool-kit-63389.html God Bless! 20. Greetings, Firstly, I am not sure if a sleigh pattern like this would be an option but, hope it may help. https://www.bing.com/images/search?view=detailV2&ccid=3wmG5Fvq&id=35E4907E5790453DF720C4F174CA25E2E8B15CA3&thid=OIP.3wmG5Fvq3RZqIYch7rhnoQHaEq&mediaurl=http%3a%2f%2fwww.scrollsawvillage.com%2fuploads%2fgallery%2fcategory_3%2fgallery_2254_3_5181.jpg&exph=252&expw=400&q=Sleigh+Patterns&simid=607990887189647054&selectedIndex=10&ajaxhist=0 Secondly, I think if you take a picture of the end view (front or back) of the sleigh on one side of your wood stock, you would just have to cut a notch up to the bottom of the sleigh and the side profiles. Then, you would need a photo of the side of the sleigh oriented so the runners are on the bottom where the notch is already cut and then tape the pieces of stock back together for stability while you cut the side profile. The down-side to this cutting would be the top of the sleigh is still all one piece instead of hollowed out where the passengers would sit. Finally, to try to answer your question more specifically about HOW to make such a pattern, if you look at some of the images here of 3d or Compound cut such as the reindeer and the dolphin. The reindeer shows the end view (compare to the end view of the sleigh) and the side view (as compared to the side view of the sleigh. The dolphin, however, shows a top view of the dolphin and the side view of the dolphin to get the desired effect. https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=compound+cut+reindeer+plans&id=1B806BF0A652657183CC2E5B65D2F382254101A9&FORM=IQFRBA I hope this makes a little bit of sense and helps you out. I'll try to answer any questions to clear up any info I did not explain well. God Bless! Spirithorse
  21. Thanks for the kind comments. God Bless! Spirithorse
  22. Thanks to Don in Brooklin for a wonderful pattern for some newlyweds. About 16" x 6 1/2". 1/4" Baltic Birch stained Golden Oak and glued to a 3/4" pine backer painted black. Sealed with several coats of Polyurethane for weather protection. I'll add two eye screws with a brass colored chain in case they display it out-side and a wooden easel in case they display it in-doors. Comments or helpful criticism welcomed. Thanks again, Don! God Bless! Spirithorse
  23. Beautiful work, Brenda, That would be a lovely necklace if you cut a circle around it but, I would have to think long and hard about whether to take a chance on ruining a beautiful piece of work like that. Thanks for sharing and God Bless! Spirithorse
  24. Hi, Alan, Another option would be Paint Pens that would be almost exactly like using your Sharpies but, they are paint. I tried to look up where may be the cheapest for you but, found some listed as paint pens, some as paint markers, and some as acrylic paint markers. Some were water based and some oil based so, it made comparison shopping pretty difficult. I did see single pens at Walmart for $1.50 and sets of 10 for about $12 at Amazon and I know from personal use that a pen will last for a very long time. Good luck and God Bless! Spirithorse
  25. Nice work! Thanks for sharing and God Bless! Spirithorse
