  1. Josh, I meant to ask, what type of portraits are you trying to sell? In my area, wildlife portraits are the best sellers. Anything with a moose, deer or mostly any other type of local wildlife or jumping fish cuttings sell well. But, that is in my area, you must know what is popular in the area. Figure out what people like in your area, fishing, hunting bike riding, or whatever they do, let that be your target market for now. If your work is good enough, and if people like it, they will call you. Len
  2. Josh, what type of portraits are you thinking of selling? Is it portraits of actors and famous people, or, is it of a personal portrait of someone's family member. If it is a portrait of an actor or a famous person, then it's a matter of waiting until the right person walks by. If it's of someone else's family, then those are usually special orders. And to get those special orders, you have to get your name and work known by others. To start try cutting one for a friend or family member who is celebrating a birthday or anniversary, of course this one is done for free. Hopefully, they'll show it to a lot of people who might be interested in buying one from you, that is how I started selling the ones I made. Now, I have people calling me, asking to have a cutting done for them. Don't think that just because you like something that other will, ask around and find out what is popular in your area, or, what other people might want t see cut out. But really, it's all a matter of getting your name and work out there. Len
  3. Over the top, have not seen better. Len
  4. As always Gator, perfectly done and presented. Is the cabin scene one of your creations, is it available anywhere? Len
  5. Luis, that is an amazing amount of identical cuts, how many of these fabulous trophies did you end up making? You sir, are a machine, was it not boring to cut so many of the same thing? Like the rest, I to am amazed at the amount and quality of work you do. Len
  6. Way to go Kevin, great save. Len
  7. Nicely done Dennis, they're almost to nice to let the kids play with them. Len
  8. Two terrific looking pieces Falcon, the one your wife was working on will look different once it's got the finish applied. I'll pick a favorite then, that's if you post a pic of it. Len
  9. Dan, congrats on retiring, and thankfully no one was hurt with this wheel incident. It happens more than you may think, a buddy of mine had a rear two wheel assembly demolish the end of his house. Luckily him and his wife had gone to bed, because where the tires came through is where they normally spend their evenings. The driver didn't even stop, but according to some trucker friends of mine, he may not have even noticed that it happened. It all depends on what set of wheels it is, my friend kept the wheel assembly in case the driver came back. Len
  10. Fish, that's a nice looking cross,I think that I've got this pattern but I haven't cut it out yet. Len
  11. Fish, what do you want to post? A picture of the cross that you've already cut out, or, a pic/copy of the pattern? If it's a picture of something that you cut out, you most certainly post it here for all to see. But, if it's of the pattern, then that's a no-no. Travis may have a different opinion on this, and if he does that is what we will go by. But, on most sites, you are allowed to display pictures of what you'e made off of a pattern. Len
  12. My old Delta scroll saw had one of those inserts, and it was a bit thinner than it should have been also. The saw came with a small maintenance kit, it had a small piece of tape like material with several little pieces of black electrical tape on it. You had to use the little pieces of tape, to build up the underside of the filler. All I did was install some of those little pieces on the underside of the filler, just around the outer ridge, it worked great. If you stick some small pieces of electrical on the underside of the filler disc, it should solve your problems with this disc. The reason for using tape, is that it stays in place every time you have to change a blade. Len
  13. Personally, I think it's a great chance for you to upgrade. I own an EX21, and it works perfectly and has been for years. EX,s are an exceptional saw, and they are very nice to use and own. I've used Dewalts in the past, and they are nice working saws, but, the EX's are nicer working. But, that's only my opinion and the opinions of a few woodworking magazines that do tool reviews. Len
  14. Gator, that's finished as is? It's an impressive bit of work, but, I'm not all that impressed with the brown backer. Especially, if it's just going to be left on the rectangular backing. Personally, I think it would look so much nicer, if it had a black complimentary/oversize backer. I mean a backer that is the same shape as the cutting, but, it is about 3/16" bigger all the way around it. Of coarse this is only my opinion, and it's just another way to finish a cutting such as this. Is this one of your own patterns? Did you ever get your site set up to sell some of your patterns from yet, or, have you just been to busy with all that you'v got going on? Len
  15. Nicely done Kevin, I cut a couple of these two years ago and gave them away as Christmas presents. The two who got them were quite pleased to own them. Len
  16. It looks fantastic, your painting skills are amazing also. Len
  17. Ed, be careful and don't over do it. You may feel great, but, your knee still needs time to heal properly. It's great that your up and around. Len
  18. Nice cutting Jim, believe it or not, but, I actually heard of this fellow before. Len
  19. Astonishing, and oh so impressive Tom, I bet there was lots of hold your breath moments with this masterpiece. Len
  20. Two more beautiful pieces Terry, and it's very generous of you to just give them away. Len
  21. Kevin, I don't see anything sacrilegious, or wrong with any of these cuttings. And, if they are symbols of worship for other people, what's wrong with making them? Especially, if it brings people closer to the one they worship. Len
  22. Jim, the boxes look fantastic, and you cuts were right on and matched up so well. Do you think a felt or a velvet liner would help sell them quicker, people like to protect their guns from scratches. Len
  23. Andrew, all you have to do, is to rent a hall and then advertise a craft sale. Of course you'd have to have other craftsman and women to participate, but that is just another matter of advertising that your looking for people to sell their goods. You could even make some extra money off of the sale by charging just a bit more than it takes to pay for the hall rental. Your work is spot on, I can see these being good sellers. Thanks for sharing them with us. Len
  24. Scott, for copyright reasons, I think you should remove this pattern that you posted. Or, check with Travis to see if it's allowed. Len
  25. Kris, I agree with Dan (dgman), I don't see a fence being very useful due to the amount of drift that the blades have. I use flat blades, I don't use spiral blades, so, I don't know if a fence would work with them. Len
