  1. Things seem to come back to me like an rocking horse I am sitting here looking at. made for the first daughter then the other 2. Then the grandkids x 6. Finally no one wanted any more and Tail and ears were not what they once was but Ma Ma Gramma could not let go. Have a cradle made years ago and was not needed until great grand baby shows up but Daughters were for storing in the attic at oldest daughters house but is now in the my Living room
  2. I have used the clay as Steve Good suggested when I did his key chains. Use as Denny and Fred suggested and worked well for me and was less expensive and easy to use. I did do other larger things such as a 3 inch rose with leaves. The rose was red and leaves green I was happy with the results and so was my wife.
  3. Sounds like you are ready to get back to work. Just remember to have rest breaks, when the body says I hurt it is a good idea to listen and rest. I am happy that you are able to get back at the saw. Look forward to the new projects.
  4. enjoy your upgrade and from the look of the shop area you need it to get more dust around the shop. Wow you keep things neat and clean . Do you give classes in clean.
  5. So what kind of wood is it ?
  6. I have the magazine and have the pattern copied and the king ready to put on a piece of wood. I have some pine since this will be practice. I have not cut chess pieces before but not like these. We will see when I have time to cut it out. May be a while yet before I get to it. early spring yard work going on.
  7. Great Idea and glad it worked well. Not that I would ever glue something where it did not belong but when ever I have done it I use a hair dry and worked well.
  8. I was never excited shoveling snow but managed it every time I had to. Then I had kids who helped some well a little but now I am retired and I figured out I have never seen snow in July so don't worry about it. Besides that I moved to NC where the snow is more tolerable.
  9. I take them out and file them in a 2 drawer filing cabinet I got at Good Will for 5 bucks. top is for the ScrollSaw and wood working and bottom is for general patterns for other sources. The SSWW is by year and date and other by category the fall in. I do keep the Mag. in cupboard to refer to when needed. I can see a time I will stop keeping them. I will have a talk with Grand kids and there father who does wonders with a computer. I am luck if I can turn it on. It is an issue to consider.
  10. I too have those issues and as stated before I have learned to live with it. It is usually the narrow areas of the pattern and I have noticed the blade is moving the small piece up and down which helps it detach. I have used tape to hold down the lifted piece, try to cut inside cut first then outside area which seems to help or a small like dental tool to hold it down while I finish the cut.
  11. you have all the good advise for the cut you want to do. I often on small delicate cuts use a #1 blade. The only suggestion I would add is be sure tohave a blade in the clamps before starting the cut. Sorry got hit in the head with warped board to often resulted in warped sense of humor.
  12. I had thought I was developing Carpal tunnel but when I went to the Doctor it was determined arthritis. Not surprising since It is most of the body. One knee replaced and the other soon will be done. Pain for me is in the thumb joints and worsened after scrolling. I think besides the thumb screws I used at Dewalt in the beginning and the tensioning and untensioning would result in pain in joints as well on the Ex 21. Splints help a small amount but not much.
  13. Dirk Boehlman's locomotive clock with all the bells lights and whistles
  14. I use work tunes head set and listen to the radio during all noisy activity and a pair of regular. The tunes I have had for about 15 years now. The right speaker no longer works, most likely wet from sweat and shorted out. I dried them out and cleaned them up and they worked another 2 days. I still use them just not stereo but mono works. Found also not I have to have te antenna touching my bald spot on the head and works better. Battery door fell off. Well Christmas is coming. They are comfortable and keep noise down
  15. I think slowing down how fast you are trying to push through and I usually will put a sacrificial board under it so the bit will go into a waste board less chance of blow out.
  16. Glad all worked out and you found it. I have made the same thing and is liked very well. I found the pattern and as you found out I was sure it was Steve Good Pattern, Mrs. N found the font but she is right the Coffee sinks slightly in the middle. I will put my copy back in the word art file. for now. I am sure you are relieved to have got it straightened out quickly.
  17. Congratulations sounds like a great deal. I know it was not a bugle but did you play taps for your Dewalt before you delivered the Trumpet.
  18. Thanks Irene not bad trouble got it glued and on the wall wouldn't know it unless looking real closely
  19. I use Polar on thicker but some 3D is thinner like bird houses or the birds to go on them I use a # 5 reverse. The other thing I found that helps is a jig to hold the project in place while you cut . I do not have capability to show Pics but sure someone else will know what I am talking about and can show you or you may have made one yourself.
  20. I understand Irene I just finished gluing a Christmas wall hanging this afternoon that I made for my wife few years ago. Her favorite. Well I went to hang it and she said not there it won't stay had to try anyway and yup it fell right to the floor did not break so being a man and not going to be told it won't work I put it back and broke in 3 places. At least you had a accident not intentional drop I am sure. I was just too stubborn. Not my first or my last time. You have great advice and will do very well with the repair.
  21. I would check Steve Good's catalog at his site. I have seen the coffee cup and the wording but not together. I have made the workee plaque and I think the coffee cup is one I think I saw at Steve good. I will check and see if I find it and let you know if I find it Sorry checked Steves site no luck
  22. great work Charlie the choice of wood and shaping is perfect for the nativity.
  23. All very nice and look great and with the ruler there easy to see they measure up to very high quality. Thanks for sharing.
  24. I think you will be happy with that. I have a Jet which looks just like this Wen. You probably already have it up but 2 people can get It up easier than one. I have had the Jet for years enough I do not remember how many years it has been. It has filtered a lot of dust. the first thing that gave up was the remote which was not a big issue I could pull cord and turn on and switch speed the same with chain pull. then it just plan stopped turning on but was able to rig it up so that the high speed worked but the other speeds where gone. The bottom line is it is still running. Enjoy
  25. Dale that sounds like the first saw I had, Dremel 2 speed slow and fast, pin end. Back then 20 years ago was a rough time for me. The scrolling helped me through that. I found all the things you mentioned were an issue but kept me going during the depressive time. Now with a Dewalt and Ex 21, bandsaw. table saw Lathe and router table with routers no looking back. Was the best investment I made and was better than any therapy or medication I could take. Even just cutting outside shapes etc. there is something about being alone with the saw and the wood and creating something you can sand paint and say I did that. I past it on to my son in law and he has been bitten by the wood bug. He is not a scroller but has made home improvements with beds, dressers and night stands.
