    Hi I use the pegas 2/0 for my scrolling of 1/8 bb plywood and really like them. I never cut thick stuff so that is all I use of their brand. nrscroller

    HI I have a hegner VS18 and have owned it for over 10 years and I love it. I mostly make smaller ornaments and things. It always cuts right on, I like the smaller table for the size things I am doing. I bought mine used off Craigslist and drove 3 hours to get it. I paid about half what a new one was at that time, it had very little hours on it. The only thing I have noticed that my tension knob that is on the back end of saw seems to loosen up now and then. I mostly cut 1/8 in bb plywood and now I use the great Pegas 2/0 blades. I did unhook the bellows and am blowing my air with an airbrush compressor hooked up to my foot switch and I get lots better sawdust cleanning around blade area. Keep your eyes out for a nice one on Craigslist. Make sure you get variable speed and the quick blade release. Good Luck, Bill

    I bought the rockler one and I did not care for it on the saw, very stiff to move around etc. The led worked fine. I bought an Ott magnifier lamp to replace it and it stays put where you put it. Bill

    HI all I cannot get paint.net to find my samsung xpress laser printer with the scanner so I can't use that. Paint in windows 7 won't find my scanner either. I like gimp but it won't save in jpeg format. Anysuggestions for a simple paint program where I can scan a pattern and save in jpeg so then I can open word and put depending on the size of them a couple on one sheet of paper to save on paper when doing smaller things.     HI all I mounted a 2 x 4 on the end of my work bench and mounted one of those plastic holdowns for lights and it works great, it is straight behind my saw and up level above my saw to move around like I wanted it to. I saved myself 25 bucks plus shipping. Bill

    Hi all I have the 18vs saw and was wondering if anyone has that add on bracket for a magnifier lamp mounted on that sliver bar on their saw and if it works or not. I have an ott light magnifier and wonder if it would fit that. I think in looking at the part on the advanced sight it is the one that looks like a bracket with slots and a door hinge on other end.     HI NIce job, I made a small one out of 1x4 and a piece of peboard and covered it with that router mat piece. I hook my shop vac up on a hole I cut on the side and I sand all my ornaments with a pad sander on that! nrscroller

    Hi all I stated out with a benctop 2 speed scroll saw and enjoyed the hobby. I went to the Delta Q3 for a while then had problems getting parts for the blade clamps. I then bought the version 1 Dewalt and still have that. I knew I wanted a Hegner after using that for a while and I found one on craigslist that was about 6 years old but hardly used. I bought that and have never looked back. I feel the blade clamping is fine, took a while to get used to, but that is all I use. My view is if you try scrolling and like it, buy a good saw for the long haul. I have had my used hegner for over 10 years now and it is still going strong. nrscroller.

    HI this sounds like me about 10 years ago. I had a Dewalt 788 and my wifes uncle had a Hegner and I really wanted to get one but at 1500 dollars, no. I found one on Craigslist that was 10 years old and never been used for 500 bucks with everything. I drove for 4 hours to get it, and I have been using that saw ever since and only spent money for the blade holders on it. Good luck and have fun. Bill

    HI I use the Pegas 2/0 blades now as they are more skip tooth and they don't plugup like the FD blades did when I used them with my 1/8 plywood. I really like them a lot. Bill

    Hi That is a hegner, but as Obsessed scroller said I would not buy it. I have an sv18 with variable speed and quick blade clamp and foot switch. I love mine. I got mine new on craigslist for 500 bucks about 10 years ago and it is still running strong.. Look for a hegner, they are a great saw but you need the quick blade clamp and variable speed for sure.     Hi I posted something also in the SWCC forum that I have this unit, I have a metal rimmed filter with a rubber edge that is washable, and a 3 bag filter behind that. I also have a charcoal filter that is supposed to work if painting and with smells but I have never used that. Bill

    I have a jet onthe ceiling also with 3 speeds and good filters and it workswell, you might also consider a dust deputy to hook up to your shop vac, they really suck the dust and another tip,get a 20 inch box fan and put a good furnace filter on the back side of it and have that backside behind your scroll saw, they help pick up a lot of dust.
