  1. Great work! That is very special and I am sure it will bring a tear to your Aunts eye when she sees it.
  2. I just purchased an older 40-690 off Craig’s list that was like new. I only have one complaint about the saw. It made scrolling so much more pleasant that I just want to keep cutting. One of these days I suppose I will have to stop and finish a few of my projects. I have a 14" Hegner and an old Dremel that both set in the corner of the room that I will probably get rid of one of these days so I can buy a second 40-690 for a backup saw. Yes I am getting spoiled with this saw it just runs and cuts so nice. I cut a snowman intarsia with it the other night and was amazed how square it cut at a much faster feed than my old saws. Oh by the way, Welcome to the village. Kick back and relax, have a cup of Joe (or beverage of your choice) and enjoy looking around the village. Post pictures of your work and your shop. I would love to see your lathe work also.
  3. WOW!!!! You nailed that one! Great job!!!
  4. I love the cutting and the frame!!!! I will have to try the recipe on a few of my future projects. Thanks for sharing this wonderful piece of art.
  5. Welcome to the village!!! They are all great cuts but the eagle is my favorite. Nature is always going to win out in my book. Thanks for sharing.
  6. Dang nice work!!! I need to make some name plates for my Grandchildren and I like the way you did those. Thank You for sharing. It always gives me ideas when I see your work.
  7. Welcome to the village! Dust off the saw and put a new coat of saw dust on her. I just have one word of advice before you start. I would take those sunglasses off before you try to cut anything otherwise you won't be able to see the line. Make sure you show plenty of pictures. We love to see everyones work.
  8. A BIG WELCOME to a fellow machinist!!!! I can’t wait to see you dive into some intarsia projects. The skill set of a machinist plays well into doing detailed work like that. I have been in the machining industry for about 20 years and have been scrolling almost as long. It is a great way to wind down after a stressful day at work. I work in a job shop making parts for different industries such as the steel, rubber and medical industries along with food and food packaging industries. I will be looking forward to seeing the work that comes off of your two very good saws. Make sure to post plenty of pictures.
  9. That is one sweet setup! Setup one saw for fret work and the other for bowls and inlay work. It doesn’t get any better than that!
  10. What brand of saw do you have? I have used an aquarium pump with an old saw but the pumps on my Delta P20 and my Hegner are far better than the pump. If you Google your saw's brand and model # you should be able to find a bellow if it is a good one.
  11. You could take the pattern in the link up above and just use the saw blade part and then put anything you want on it. just lay your pattern right over the saw.
  12. Now just what is considered COLD in Texas? Congratulations on the saw Thomas! You should get many years of enjoyment out of a saw like that.
  13. I have a package with 10 of those spiral blades in it. I had to try them. Maybe someday I will find a use for them but I almost thru the rest of them in the trash. I couldn't follow a line to save my soul with those darn things. I will stick with my Flying Dutchman FD blades myself.
  14. Love the stangs!!!!!!!!! You did a great job cutting and finishing these!
  15. Great work Kevin! I have been looking at the saw blade pattern for quite a while but haven't taken the time to cut it. Here is the link for the deer on the saw blade pattern. http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/gallery/image/4727-saw-blade-buck-in-water/ By the way, paint the pepers. Lol
  16. Great cutting but there is one problem. There can only be one Worlds Greatest Sister and that would be one of mine.
  17. I will be finishing up on a stack of 4 signs. One for the front of my house then also one for each of my sons and my brother’s house. Everyone in the family with the last name of Wilson. Then onto a bunch of clocks and maybe some trivets. My wife will probably think she is a woodworking widow.
  18. A BIG WELCOME from me!!! By all means stick around and join in the conversation. Most of us here just love the joy and relaxation of scroll sawing. I am looking forward to seeing more of your bigger scale projects along with the stuff you make just for relaxation. Glad you found the village. Diversity is the best part of this forum and you can add to that diversity quite well.
  19. Kevin, take a look at the picture. The oil cups shown on the side of the saw is where the pivot points are. The book says to put a couple drops of oil in the cups about every 20 hours of machine use. I figure I will do it every week even thou I probably won’t use it 20 hours a week.
  20. The one I purchased was advertised at $150 then they dropped it to $100. I offered $80 and they took it without hesitation. You do change the speeds by changing the belt from step to step on the pulleys but I don’t change the speeds while I am cutting anyway so this is no problem for me. I just set thee speed where I need it for the material I am cutting and go. As for the blade clamps they are the slickest I have used. I had never been able to top load the blade into the hole before and can do it with ease with this saw. I don’t even have to swing the lighted magnifying lamp out of the way. Wow!! So much faster, I can make sawdust in a hurry with saw.
  21. I thought about it but we swung in about 4:30 picked up the saw then went to Texas Road House to meet my daughter and her family for supper. Sorry my grandkids won out on that one. Hopefully next time Doug
  22. I purchased a Delta P20 scroll saw over the weekend that I would swear had never even had a blade in it. I set it up Sunday and had one of Paul’s patterns prepped and ready to cut so I made a few cuts to test it out in 1/4" plywood stacked 4 X thick. WOW!!!!!! What a machine, I wish I had gotten one of these years ago. Hardly any vibration and after cutting for a couple hours my arms didn't even ache like they do on my other saws! I broke the loc-line adapter loading the saw so I rigged an airline till I can get repairs for that but the saw works flawlessly and I am thrilled not only to have a bigger saw but to have one that is a joy to run. I love Craig’s list, I picked it up in Lincoln for $80.
  23. They look great but I have never seen an ice skater with a golf club. Great work and thanks for sharing.
  24. Excellent work!!!! The little boy sitting on the log fishing brings back a lot of great memories. I love the elk and the cowboy sleeping also. Simply magnificent work, thank you for sharing these.
  25. I was just looking at some reviews of the P20 and seen a familiar face giving a very positive review on it. It looks like Dan from Ohio uses one to make his book marks. Unless he has changed his mind he seems pretty happy with it so I might pick a used one up tomorrow if I can make arrangements.
