  1. That wouldn't be a problem. I never use pinned blades anyway, it is hard to get them thru a 1/16" hole. I was just hoping to hear from someone who had one of these saws to see how they held up. I was looking at a Delta P20 but read a review that said there were trouble getting parts for it and it constantly needed repair parts. It is much more fun to work with a saw then to work on a saw.
  2. Wow you did that in 4 hours with a hand saw??? That is amazing! It would take me almost as long with my scroll saw. Great job!
  3. I don't mind hanging drywall but taping, mudding and sanding it is for the birds. Good luck on that project.
  4. I am looking forward to seeing that saw. I have never heard of shading with hot sand. That might be a good one to do a tutorial on for us novices.
  5. If ANYONE knows how they wear Kevin it would be you.
  6. Can anyone tell me what year this Craftsman 20" Pro was made around? Searched Google pictures and didn't even see one similar. If anyone has one how does it preform?
  7. WOW!!!!! That is one amazing cut. I wish I had that kind of talent. Great job!!
  8. WOW!!!!! looks like it could jump right out of the picture. Great job on that one. It must have took a long time to cut that one.
  9. Hey Marge 1/32 is about .8 MM. Dang Dan that is thin stuff, Do you stack cut the ones that are the same pattern? Very cool project and great results.
  10. Hey Kelly, don’t be afraid to challenge yourself to a little harder pattern than you think you can do. You will find yourself getting better and better. Pretty soon you will be showing the rest of us how to do it. Oh and Welcome to the Village!
  11. Ya I belong to some of the other forums also but I haven't logged into them in months. This forum is much more welcoming and sharing. It truly is like being in a small village only we are scattered all over the globe. Welcome to the village and make yourself at home. Take your time and look around. You might find the free pattern library very interesting.
  12. Welcome to the village! I love the maps, they are very original and a real eye catcher. I do have one little work of advice before you let your wife start using your scroll saw. Save up enough money to buy yourself a scroll saw because that one is about to become her saw. This scroll sawing is addicting and she won’t want to let you use it.
  13. There are a lot of people on here that use pallet wood and the backs to old furniture that people are throwing away. Also if there is a cabinet builder close by you might talk to them about dumpster diving. To them it may be trash but to a scroller it will be the perfect size to do that project you have in mind. I buy a lot of wood but I also use a lot of FREE wood also. Oak and pine pallets that I have ran thru the plainer but you wouldn't need a plainer for a lot of it.
  14. You just gave me an Idea! Thanks for sharing Roly.
  15. I have my Scroll saws in the basement till I get a garage built. While it is cold and snowing this weekend I plan on being down stairs scrolling looking outside every once in a while to see the snow. Planning on a small room in the front of the garage that will be easy to heat when I get it built.
  16. They are saying about a foot of snow for the Great Lakes area so you can keep the snow. I know last year Chicago was measuring the snow in feet instead of inches. That is just crazy to me, I hate scooping the stuff. Although it would give me an excuse to stay at home and do some scrolling.
  17. Thanks Kevin!!! I think I will pass on it if they are noisey. I don't need that in my basement. I will wait and save up for a better saw.
  18. Do you have Hobby Lobby in Alabama? I saw some in there a few months ago and didn't think the price was too bad.
  19. It looks like there is no top arm. I have only seen pictures but it looks like the top might have a spring or something, not sure. That is why I was hoping someone one here had one. If it runs straight up and down instead of pivoting on two arms I thought it might vibrate less. These saws were made for schools and production shops so I think they are going to be pretty beefy and should hold up good but again I don't know. I did see on the internet that it weighs 275 pounds without the stand so it will be fun getting it down into the basement.
  20. I saw the picture of your saw and would never have guessed that was a Dremel. My old Dremel looks totally different. I don’t think they make them any more so I hope it holds up for you. I have used the crud out of mine and it still runs with the many fixes I have done on it. Welcome to the village and hope to see ya posting plenty of pictures of the many projects you will be doing. Oh and don’t be afraid to ask questions about a new saw or projects or anything else as far as that goes. These people are a huge help.
  21. I have seen a lot of them go for $200 to $250
  22. Yes it does. I looked on line and I think it has three speeds from 650 to 1350 RPM
  23. Has anyone got a Powermatic model 95 scroll saw. I seen one on Craigs list and wondered if it would be worth picking up for $75 just to be able to cut bigger projects with. Any comments on this type of saw welcome. Thanks
  24. I like the idea and you did an excellent job on this one. My hats off to you Dick.
  25. http://memphis.craigslist.org/tls/4741201981.html Take a look at this one. Not much more than one of the cheeper saws you would buy in a box store.
