I would say bragging rights is defiantly the place to post this one! It is a very special piece and the history behind it would make it priceless to your family. Make sure if it goes in storage to put your favorite cutting that you make with it so your great grandson or daughter will know just what a treasure they have got when they read and admire it.
Welcome to the village Linda!!!! It looks like you have a wonderful setup there with the cottage and all the fruit a person could ever want. I would trade a whole grove of these darn cotton wood trees for your orchard. That is a trash tree around here. Although I do use some from time to time in my projects.
As far as taking a man’s hobby I don't think that is the case. Many women around this country do wood working and not just as a hobby. I know same darn good cabinet builders that are women.
Well got to go. Will be looking forward to seeing your work as well as the inside of that little cabin.
They look great!!!!
I have some locus that I resawed for turning and the grain pattern is amazing. I will have to find some to resaw for scrolling. It is very hard but not too dense. It should cut great.
Welcome to the Village Steve. Take a good look around, there is a lot to see here.
Roly, you should know there is no such thing as a stupid question just stupid answers.
Ok Ok I will stop trying to answer the questions.
Can you post a picture of the clamp? I made some clamps for my Dremel years ago. In fact that dremel is only dremel because of the name on the housing any more.
That is a great design!! Simple but easy and very pleasing to the eye. You can leave it like it is or cut fruit or grains in the ends. There is just so much you could do with this simple design it is only limited by your imagination. Great job on this one.
That looks to be a TOP NOTCH job to me. If I had the decor to go with it in my house I would proudly display this piece in a place of honor.
It will be special to your Granddaughter not only because it is a wonderful piece of work but also because her Grandfather made it. Keep up the good work!
This is a custom made inlayed box that I made for my brothers wedding gift. It is 7X12X7" over all with the name and date in the lid with maple and interlocking rings on the front of the box with oak.
I agree with Kevin, contact mike and see what he has to say.
Carl is probably correct that something in the heat treat process was probably missed. The steel would have been hardened then tempered back to the correct hardness for the blade. The tempering improves the grain structure of the steel so that it is not so brittle. If they didn’t get drawn back (tempered) then they would be terribly brittle and break wherever the blade would get kinked.
Holy coo guys I think you scared poor Martin off!
Welcome to the village Martin! Don’t let these yahoos scare you off. Not everyone on in the village is insane. Of course it does help. I hope you join in and enjoy yourself here in the village. These are some of the best guys and gals you could ever hope to meet. The knowledge and skill is abundant and it really helps armatures like me.
So wonder around the village and check it all out and then post pictures of your shop, your work and your saw. We all love to see them and see the progress you make as you learn more and more while loving every minute.
Well if it can’t be my Minnesota Twins the KC Royals are the second in line. After all the years of struggling it is great to see them rising to the top!
GO KANSAS CITY ROYALS!!!!!!!!
Actually I have two favorite teams. The Twins and whoever is playing the NY Yankees.
