    For all you Gnome-holics out there. This is a little different in that it has arms compound cut. I modified one of Diana Thompsons patterns of a Dragon. Also, the person who requested this wanted 2 signs so the sign is held on by earth magnets and can be changed easily. PS: Please no political comments as I have enough of those on Facebook to sink a ship.

    I must try the craft ply again. I had a lot of trouble with break out on the back veneer when it was close piece. You have some really thin pieces. What size and kind of blades did you use.

    Love Sue's patterns. They are very affordable. Often $5 - $10 and you often get a collection. Just convert currency and no other charges. When you are only making for your own enjoyment it really helps.

    This a Steve Good design modified to have only 2 people as we are empty nesters. I also enlarged. This was supposed to go the door to our garden. I was going to paint but ended up using some left over cedar fence and deck board. I was testing painting and nothing would pop. The red and white were really dull no matter how many coats. I even tried primer with some success. Going to too much work. BUT - my wife said she really liked it the ways so I just finished with spray on spar varnish.

    I cut 1/4 inch BB all the time as single or stacked 2 at a time. (have done 5 - 1/8 BB too) I use FD-UR #3 mostly. BB is hard on blades as they dull quickly due to the glue. I have used Pegus MGT #3 and they work well too but they are more aggressive and the cut is not as clean.

    Hello fellow Canuk To avoid high shipping you should check with Sawbird. https://www.sawbird.com/pegas_chuck_heads.htm Garnett sells the Pegas clamps so he may have renewal kits too. I just order blades from him and the shipping was only $6 CAD. Bearwoods web site for Canada is https://www.woodparts.ca/ In both cases they don't list the renewal kits so you may have to call.

    It is a long time since I cut a Wordart. Designed lots but next week our club is going to review the library at our club. It is a really great resource and was started by my dear friend who passed away a couple of years ago. For all the work he did for the club and especially the formation of the library it was named the "Mack Cameron Memorial Library". I have the privilege of creating the sign for the library to be presented at this meeting. PS: If anyone was a pen turner, you may remember Mack on all the pen forums as he was a real avid pen turner.

    Really cool idea as a fundraiser. I am curious how much do you think get as a fundraiser? On etsy the prices are all over the place. My grand daughter was talking about having a table at high school for the athletic club. She has a cricut machine and does amazing cards. She also is a pretty good wood worker so she would love to help, Hope you feel better soon. The flu has been spreading here.

    Only place I used them is when our club was at a Boys club and the director thought it would be a good idea. He was not a woodworker. A real pain so when we moved all the guards came off and we never have had an issue, We have 40 - 50 Cubs each year come and scroll for the first time o problems.

If you could come up with size and idea of "flourish" might I could give it a try. Below is what I call a flourish. Is this what you are after for both sides. There are lots of variations like this.

    I bought what was called Craft ply from local supplier. It sounds similar. Looks great but I found that the bottom layer split. When the fret was narrow it split the top layers. It makes great backer board.

    Where are you located as that may make a difference. In the USA I would look at Seyco as they have the Knowledge and parts etc. In Canada here, I would look at King as they have and extensive dealer net work and service repair depots. The machines are the same as the original Excalibur's. They have a 16 inch version which will handle 96% of Steve Goods patterns.

    I love seeing these videos too. I just wish we had Harbor Freight in Canada. When we traveled to the USA one of the stops always was HF. Stocked up on supplies and a few small tools. It looks like they have upped the quality but the cheap stuff I bought pre-covid still working fine.

    All Sreve Good's patterns are PDF'S and can be opened in Inkscape and the pattern is a svg.

    I have used Adobe Reader for years as I really like the poster option. Recently, I have noticed that when I opened PDF documents it took quite a few seconds. I don't know if it is linking to adobe to get "AI" ads or what. I have recently tried Foxit PDF reader and it seems to have all the same features and then some. Is anyone using this reader and have any issues? Don

    I use an X-ACTO knife to cut the pattern along with a steel edge and turn over to score the middle line.

    I teach a course at our club and I have 2 hand outs. First are the instructions from Diana Thompson that I lifted from one of her pattern books. Patterns removed as copyrighted. Secondly, I give out a pattern source book that has a pattern from Steve Good plus the patterns from the Ornaments for Charity book. The club also has the issue 156 and 160 of Creative Woodworking and Crafts issue that has the full set of birdhouses. As far as wood is concerned I have used a variety of woods, Walnut, Ash, Maple, Poplar, Cherry.     Congratulations! Hope they live close. We moved to get closer to grandkids and they then moved too right around the corner. Keep us busy and love every moment.
