  1. Funny, Paul. When I saw your avatar I thought, if must be a new member because I do not remember this one. Then I saw it was you. I had to show Sharon.. I was thinking about making a pattern of it and cutting it for you.. but you are way ahead of me. Dick heppnerguy
  2. I know not only like the great job on the wolf, which is your usual work level but I think the frame is perfect to the cutting as well.. Dick heppnerguy
  3. very nice little items.. I have never tried any jewelry before. They look like they would sell well at a craft sale. Good work on it Dick heppnerguy
  4. These are indeed an eye catcher.. I love them a lot.. I will have to do one of them also. Thank you for the information on where to get that pattern. How can anyone not want to make one of these Dick heppnerguy
  5. Blades are a personal but you need to try them before that happens. What is perfect for one I a pain for another. I like the flat ends because they seem to not break as often for me. I also like the 3/0? But only for the really small areas otherwise I like the number one Blades. Bigger ones are too raspy for me. I don't like all the clean up that is left. I would order a dozen of several kinds and figure it out with trial and error Dick heppnerguy
  6. Good luck with your intarsia project.. they are fun to do and very attractive to have hanging on your walls. Dick heppnerguy
  7. Rod, if one is sitting in front of his or her scroll saw and making things to give as gifts to loved ones, then it is not only good for the body but also good for the sole. It takes awhile when one first retires to learn how to sit for an extended length of time, but you will soon catch on Dick heppnerguy
  8. Welcome to you from Eastern Oregon where the snow has kept us company since November...If you have any questions about anything to do with your saw, blades. glue, finishing or where to get the right wood, just ask. Not everyone here has the same view about most anything, except that we enjoy each other and cherish our new family members here. I hope to see you often here and some of your work too. don't feel like you might be embarrassed to show your stuff because we all started from our first piece too. take time to explore every place you see here. Just enjoy yourself Dick heppnerguy
  9. I want to welcome you from Eastern Oregon. True what people are saying about a bunch of friendly and helpful people here. You won't have to go any farther to suddenly realize all the new friends you have acquired just because you chose to join our world wide family.. Now all you need to do it come back on here often and comment on the posts that others have made, then pretty soon you will be making posts yourself. So don;t be afraid to join in on the fun Dick heppnerguy
  10. Wow Len, I guess I just understand that I am only a mediocre scroller but I have acquired a little knowledge through the years. I also know that after all these years I still have not been able to acquire the finishing technique that makes me feel good about my work. I have been inspired to take on more challenging fret work by all the wonderful pieces posted here. I feel my cutting ability has gotten better because of what others do and share here. Some people appear to be naturals from the get go. All this inspires me. YOU have been so kind to me and have not hesitated or backed down from helping me when you see the need. I always look forward to your remarks on my efforts and found them to be very helpful. When I visited with Paul ( scrappile) and saw his outstanding work, I went home and stepped up my efforts to do better. When I started trying to make patterns, Timothy, from Australia, stepped up and has helped me over and over again. A lot of others, way too many to mention, have offered helpful things to me all through the time I have been here on The Village. We all are here to help each other and to learn from each other also. I too have stepped up and helped several people here whenever I find the opportunity to do so. That is the very reason we consider this a FAMILY here. As to your previous remarks about me all I can say about that is. BLUSH DICK heppnerguy
  11. I had another request for a sign. I do not like making signs. The person sent me a rough drawing that to show me what she was interested in. I went to Dave Monk and ask him if he would help me come up with some ideas. Then I sent his ideas to the lady who made the inquiry and showed her what I had to offer. As soon as she saw this pattern, designed not by me but by Dave Monk she immediately sent back a reply saying, "I want the first one..it is perfect." So I went ahead and made it for her. I have not shown it to her yet but I am sure she will like it. I made this one out of 1/4 inch BB Ply. This is an indoor only sign. Thank you so much Dave for your help with my project. You are not only a great pattern designer and really good at with the art you produce, but you are also a generous and giving person to take your time to help me with this one. I am happy to call you my friend and family member here in The Village... Dick heppnerguy
  12. I have always been very happy with WTB and their service.. I have never purchased a pattern from them so I can't testify to that part Dick heppnerguy
  13. yes I have been doing the extended backer board with the washer for almost 2 years now. Every since I saw it mentioned on a post somewhere and tried it.. It works so perfectly that I can not imagine not doing it that way Dick heppnerguy
  14. I had a request for a family name sign plaque.. This was the pattern they chose. This one is for inside the house but I am going to be making them one for the out doors that will have inlayed letters when i get the wood for it. This one is made of 2 layers of 1/4 inch BB Ply Dick heppnerguy
  15. If you are OK with it, I can make a pattern from you post with no problem... I just need your permission to do so Dick heppnerguy
  16. you can't beat names for gifts. Everyone loves their names in wood, it seems Dick heppnerguy
  17. Nice little pieces... They should go well.. Something special for that special someone Dick heppnerguy
  18. Both pieces turned out great... You made good use of your talents here with these Thanks for showing Dick heppnerguy
  19. good one..I too would try to round it out a little. maybe raise the center of the fish and taper to the head, sides and tail a little more. It looks to me that you should use a little thicker wood,if you have it,, 3/4 minimum for intarsia. I love the wood color and the pattern. The more realism the better. Keep up the good work..You are certainly on the right track.. Dick heppnerguy
  20. Mike, I to am not a sports fan but because I live where I do, there are a lot of Sea Hawk fans here. I have been trying to come up with something to offer them but I just am not very good at visualizing pattern making ideas. .Is there any chance that you might share your pattern here? Dick heppnerguy
  21. Tim, I love making and giving items for fund raisers. The cost to do them is not all that much but the love that goes into making something for that purpose can not be purchased by anyone.. Good for you...It is a great piece and it will probably do well as many will want it.. Dick heppnerguy
  22. Jerry. you are one talented guy.. I don't think there is anything you are not capable of doing Dick heppnerguy
  23. I too like clocks. i am fascinated on your diving into the projects you have been taking on. You go guy... I am holding my breath to see what an old pallet board might become in your hands... love your little clock.. . not to be critical but only to give you my idea. for what it might be worth.. I think that if you would have made the backer boards of your clock a contrasting color, either lighter of darker, you fret work would stand out even more.. You did a wonderful job and I think it just would show it off even better...Thank for posting Dick heppnerguy
  24. I have not noticed this pattern in the Wooden Teddy Bear magazine. I guess I must have seen it but it did not stand out to me. Yours, however, did the trick and now I want to get the pattern and cut it too. Very nice job and a fun pattern indeed. Sorry about the loss of your co worker's friend, that is never easy Dick heppnerguy
  25. I wish those flip flops could hurry along summer as we are really getting tired of the teens and below temps and the ice and snow here. Thanks for the cute cheer up and optimism Dick heppnerguy
