    I have not watched it yet, but I did see where Steve Good did a video on that same warping problem on his web sight. You might want to check that out also. I am amazed at all the knowledge that is here in The Village. Everyone is so helpful too. I do not know if the Steve Good video addresses things the same as here but I just thought one additional piece of advice, doesn't hurt either Dick heppnerguy

    Gordie, I was not referring to Paul getting the wood from his scrap pile I just put 'scrappile' in because that is how he signs in here in The Village. He gave me about 5 pieces of that wood. . I love having it, It was a nice gift from him. Dick heppnerguy

    Sharon and I made a quick trip to Tri Cities last Sunday and I was able to get more ply. We were going on the assumption the road conditions would allow us to get there and back and they were pretty good until just about 20 miles from home, then we hit freezing fog with visibility down to less than 2 car lengths. I would have loved to have called you and had lunch of something but we just did not have the time on that day.. We have snow here today too but only a dusting so far with the calling of about 3 inches by days end.. I have been able to do some shop time now..So glad for my wood burning stove to make it possible. Hope to see you before too much longer Dick

    I love the look of both.. I always tried to use a piece of wood that had no color variations to it because I thought it more appealing, as your wife does. But as time goes by, I find that people love the variations in natural color in wood, Maybe because you often do not see that in most mass produced wood items. Just a thought. The fact that what some people prefer is not necessarily the preference of another. That is why I am learning that I often sell something quickly that I, personally was not even interested in making ..So go figure Dick heppnertguy

    fun pieces.. i have to say that I have not seen the Lucky Charm on Steve's page but I think i will be cutting some,as our little community was founded by Irish and we have a nice celebration on the weekend closest to St Patrick's day, every year.. Might be fun to make and pass these out to people. Dick heppnerguy

    No fear...just straight ahead, "GO FOR IT, GAL". I love it when a kid gives things like this a try..She is outstanding. Not only is the cutting done excellently and the painting done very well but it is all those added touches that make this one stand high and proud, like her dad Dick heppnerguy

    A truly fun pattern and I love the great job you did cutting it too. Chatchi you picked a great group to make some well received patterns. I think we will see a lot of those cut in the near future Dick heppnerguy

    I decided that I should be cutting my pattern attempts because It should help me understand, a little better as to how I am really doing with that process. I was able to cut parts of the pattern better than I thought and changed a couple of areas I thought was better to be beef up.. I think I should try and cut all my patterns before I try to introduce them, for that very reason, and then of course, I will be aware of any islands myself. I can't say for sure that I will follow my own advice, but I know I probably should. OH, I also have to give a big "Thank you" to Paul,(Scrappile) for giving me the wood I used here. Dick heppnerguy

    compared to most hobbies, I have found that scrolling is about as inexpensive as hobbies an get. blades and wood, glue, finish, sand paper, and some clamps is about all one needs to get started. It is easy to make enough money to pay for itself. I buy my sheets of Baltic Birch for $16- $18 a sheet and each gives me 25 1ft by 1ft pieces.. so a project cost very little to make. One can sell the pieces for a fairly low price and come ahead right away... Dick heppnerguy

    I also have used a piece of blue painters tape to achieve the zero clearance when cutting really small fret pattern.. worked well as a temporary solution Dick heppnerguy

    I have a Ryobi that was my first saw for a couple of years..I did have problems with things wearing out quickly but the replacements were readily available, cheep and easy to fix by myself. I finally just got fed up with the continual repairs and bought a DeWalt saw,on line. I did cut many things with the Ryobi and never had the kind of problems you are describing, I would look at all the above suggestions and make up your mind as to what it is you wish to do.
