  1. nice pieces and well made and finished. I bet here will be a lot more pieces coming from your way as you work continually to challenge that new saw of yours to perform to your expectations Dick heppnerguy
  2. Clayton, I can feel your excitement all the way here in Oregon. I remember when my new saw arrived, it was one of the happiest days of my life, excluding meeting and finally marrying my wife and having our family members arrive in our lives. It runs so quietly, I can't even hear it, but I still know that it is running. I bet it will be running in your dreams tonight too.. so happy for you Dick heppnerguy
  3. Paul, Know you are among some of the friendliest people on this planet. All you have to do to find that out for yourself is to log on here on a regular basis and post, post post and soon you will understand what I mean. Welcome, happy you found us. Oh by the way, I am Dick from Eastern Oregon. Dick heppnerguy
  4. Look at Homer and Carol Bishops posts here. They make 3 D intarsia pieces. they sell their patterns but Homer posted one of them to download free here on The Village. He entitled it something like " here is a challenge for anyone" of something similar to that. Go look it up. Dick heppnerguy
  5. Welcome Bill, We are glad you found us. Our chief bottle washer, who runs this site is a former Montana man but recently moved to Vancouver, Washington. I hope you do take time to explore the site and enjoy meeting all the friendly people here on The Village. Have any questions; ask Have any work of yours to display; post not sure about how to do something then shoot out a question... welcome to one of the best families on the internet Dick heppnerguy
  6. Glad you found us here. No point in repeating the information, unless you still seem unable to get the download you wish to have, then feel free to ask again. I hope you log on as a regular member. There is no charge to be a member here. You will be glad you did as this is a fun group here that enjoys each other a lot. Dick heppnerguy
  7. This is the kind of scrolling projects that I like too. Good job. It sounds like you will be making another one too Dick heppnerguy
  8. I really like this train. A good one to start the year off. Blow the whistle and make some smoke Dick heppnerguy
  9. I like your glove idea. I had my 12 disk sander take a bite on me once and that did not feel too good. The only concern I would see with gloves is on a belt or disk sander, you might need to be especially careful of the machine grabbing part of your glove.. that wouldn't be very good Dick heppnerguy
  10. Interesting thought. I have never even owned a metal cutting blade. 1'8 inch wood does require as many teeth per inch as you can find, as far as I am concerned but I, personally, don't find the need to go to a #1 blade. Maybe I don't do tight enough fret work yet, not sure. i find the smaller blades to take too long to make a tight turn so I like a little heavier blade for stability. Dick heppnerguy
  11. an excellent portrait. These patterns are my goal to achieve this year. You are already grasping this art quite well Dick heppnerguy
  12. Stack cutting is a real plus. You get at least twice as much finished with less effort than one. and the blade is less aggressive so it is truly easier to cut at the same time. Dick heppnerguy
  13. great pattern and cutting. Thanks for showing it to us all Dick heppnerguy
  14. Great pieces. These clocks are very nicely cut and finished. I like them a lot Dick heppnerguy
  15. Nice. Very decorative. What material did you use here? It is the natural color or painted. great job cutting this Dick heppnerguy
  16. I struggled with mine once and came to the conclusion that it was not going to be possible to get it back on my 788. but the idea of heating it make it expand, came to mind and I boiled it in a pan of water for several minutes. It still took a lot of determination and strong effort but I was able to succeed. Muscle that sucker on.. it will go. but never easy. Dick heppnerguy If you can't get it, call in the wife
  17. No this is an "oregon jibaro' pattern. This is the same pattern maker of the vet and Viper car I posted a few days ago. you can find him on Facebook too Dick heppnerguy
  18. This is obviously not a difficult piece but rather it just appealed to me because I thought it was cute. Not sure where it goes from here but, it is my first contribution for 2015. Dick heppnerguy
  19. Mainly for me it is 'pattern making'. I have been too stubborn to take the time to get learn and not just do. so this year, I am working on pattern making.. let's see how well I do with that . Dick heppnerguy
  20. What a truly interesting concept. I really like your idea here. The prep work involved to do this must be more time consuming than the cutting and shaping of the piece itself.. Wonderfully fascinating to me Dick heppnerguy
  21. Hello Tom, So glad you found us. I hope you have taken of few photos of your work, so we can all take a look at some of it. This is a sort of world wide family and we all welcome you to The Village. Please explore everywhere and grab a pattern or 100 or more and give those a shot too, if you wish. Log on often so we can all get to know one another. Any questions about the sight or manipulating here, just ask, you will get several answers, that is the way we work here. Everyone helps everyone. Share some of your work with us and relax and have fun with us. Dick heppnerguy
  22. I too wish to welcome you to The Village. I too have been with my bride for over 50 years. The Village is a huge family that is located all over the world, and we always are most welcoming of new family members. There is a lot of talent here, some cutters, some pattern makers as well. We love anything to do with woodworking and if you have any photos of your carvings we are all interested in seeing them too. I love your attitude for giving to your church to help others. I too donate things for fund raisers and to my church. I also sell a few pieces but mostly I enjoy making gifts for others. Take time to look everywhere on this site, Jerry. There is much to see and many people to meet. I hope you come back often as that is how everyone gets to know one another. Any questions or suggestions is always welcome.. Dick heppnerguy
  23. Ike, A very nicely cut item.. It is on my list too... now I really HAVE to do that one. It looks so great Dick heppnerguy
  24. Paul, you are a master of the spiral like is Hans. I tried it again today on a piece I was doing and it was very disappointing. I will try again from time to time but so far, I think they are beating me up pretty badly Beautifully done, I like this pattern also... Dick heppnerguy
  25. you photos give the impression that I am looking at different bowls. the second photo makes the bowl look quite a bit taller than the first photo and the third photo gives the appearance of having only 3 layers instead of 4 as it appears in the other photos. I have found the same thing happens when I take different angle photos of one of my pieces. Not sure why they can come out so different looking, just do to the angle or lighting of a photo but they sure do. That is a really cool bowl.. i like the shape, color and character of the bowl a lot Dick heppnerguy
