  1. Welcome to the Village. this place is always welcoming new people to our world wide family. suggestions to new scrollers are such as; start with basic patterns that has little detail and challenge yourself to more complex patterns whenever you start to feel confident with what you are doing. make sure you try several type of blades because everyone has their own favorite blades. read lots of posts because there are many questions and opinions to learn from find out about the different woods and supplies that others are using have fun and post your works here. We all started in the same place you may be in.. I hope you come back here and post often and then we can all get to know you better as you begin to find out a little about us too visit everything you can find here and enjoy yourself Dick heppnerguy
  2. yes it is easy to move and the clock insert can be removed. I usually spray lacquer from a can like Deft. It just has so many parts tat stick out in front of each other so it does not seem possible to successfully spray anything because everything would be blocked behind all the gingerbread in front of all the main body of the clock. 3. I have now completed this clock that I had intended to be my wife,a valentines gift but I am a couple of days late. This is the most complex piece I have ever cut and after all the pieces were finally cut and I was starting my assembly process I discovered to my dismay, that I had printed and cut my parts on two different sizes. I was, fortunately able to make adjustments and was able to use all the mis sized pieces. But now that I have it all put together I have found another dilemma. I have no idea as to how to put a finish on this clock. There are many layers in placement in front of one another and I see no way to use a brush or a sprayer to get the job done. So HELP ME IF YOU CAN. Anyone with an idea to help me make this click turn out the way I would really like it to be. Dick heppnerguy
  4. sorry for the mail problems you have. I guess you just need to sell that house and move back up into the Pacific Northwest again Dick heppnerguy
  5. would you like to have me order some and mail them to you Dick heppnerguy
  6. I agree it is a wonderfully done pattern. I guess I had best get my wife's project finished and get back to my New Years resolution. That being learning wooden portrait pattern making b
  7. I can't see the photo either but I bet that Travid probably removed it because it is copyrite issue
  8. It seems like you have beenemtioning being out of spiral blades for a long time. Why is it taking soling to getore blades? 5 or 6 days should get things delivered almost anywhere in the world. Do you have a clue why such a long time for you. Maybe you need to have a tracer put on the blades. I had a piece list in the mail to Germany but it did show up about three months later
  9. there you go.. an easy scroll job.. looks good. I am going to be making some names too this weekend for a couple of kids that will be staying with us. They are doing a singing tour and are from Ethiopia and India.. Dick heppnerguy

  20. q I was doing intarsia for about 3 years and replacing parts on my saw on a regular basis. One day I was looking on line at scroll saws and I found a really good deal on a DeWalt just before I went to bed. The sight said it would only be offered for 12 more hours. I mentioned it to my wife as I crawled into bed. She asked me if it was the saw I really wanted. I said yes but it was a little speedy to buy ' just for myself'. She said BUY IT IF YOU WANT IT. I couldn't believe it. First thing in the morning I got on line and the offer was over. I had wished I would have purchased it the night before. I went all over the internet searching for a similar deal. And low and behold I found a deal at a furniture store sight. They sold no other tools. I called them to find out if it was a refurbished one or a new one. It was new and shipping was included. So I got my new saw for only $259 total price. So if it was not for my wife I would still be buying replacement parts for my cheap saw. THANK YOU, MY BRIDE FOR YOUR FAITH IN ME AND ALL YOUR ENCOURAGEMENT THROUGHOUT ALL THESE MANY 50 PLUS YEARS , LOVE YOU DICK HEPPNERGUY
  21. I just noticed that the feet look a little goofy but it is the material it is laying on that blends in with the feet and looks a little crazy Dick heppnerguy Oh thanks Bob
  22. A little while back my cousin sent me an email and asked me to make her a couple of sea gulls for her wall. I asked if anyone knew of a pattern and someone pointed out that there was one in a Judy Gale Roberts book, which I just happen to own. so I looked it up and made a couple for her with the instructions that she NOT pay me for them because I enjoy making things for family if they are for person use. She sent me $75 for them. I really did not like the pattern very well but it was all that I could find. So as I was going through the internet I found a pattern that I had in mind and I made that for her yesterday and I will be sending it to her this afternoon. I did not have the wood that I really wanted to use but I usually use what ever is on my wood rack unless it is something that I am making for someone and the price I am charging is worthy of the extra cost to me. I try to sell my things cheap enough that anyone could afford to purchase the item at the lowest price I can offer it for. So here is the photo of the latest piece I am mailing her today. If I was making it again, I would make the eye smaller. Dick heppnerguy

  24. Oh i have never been to the UK but I have traveled a little in Germany and France and the transportation there is wonderful. However 100 miles is not very far. I traveled more than that to meet up with all of the guys that i have met from the village. but to me, it is a short distance for the rewards of meeting these wonderful guys.. put the word out and arrange something during the warmer time there. I assure you that you will be very glad you did. I live so remotely here in Heppner that I have to travel 65 miles just to go to the movies. Have everyone meet somewhere in your area.. After all, a little sight seeing makes the whole idea even more appealing. I bet you would be surprised at how many people would be interested in making the trip. Give it a go Dick heppnerguy
  25. Roly, I don't know how far it is for all you folks in the UK to get together but with all the great public transportation there, I would thing a weekend get together would result is a really fun time for everyone involved. i bet that if you were to pick a summer date and suggest this, you would get quite a few interested people. Try it.. I can assure you it would be much more beneficial than teh same time spent for a craft show... Dick heppnerguy
