  1. I love this pattern too. Been meaning to cut it myself. your frame is wonderful and sets the piece off so well Dick heppnerguy
  2. great job.. a beautiful cross pattern that you have done much justice to Dick heppnerguy
  3. way to go.. I am glad to see that you were willing to give intarsia a try. It is not as difficult as so many scrollers feel that it is going to be. You did a great job, now go and try another one soon Dick heppnerguy
  4. a splendid couple of items. You did a wonderful job with them. continue the great work and please don't forget to post them so all of us can enjoy them too Dick heppnerguy
  5. Doug, You are correct that everyone has their own preference as to how to attach a pattern and i would have been in total agreement with you, until about a month ago when I decided to try the pattern directly on the wood, idea. What I discovered to my delight, was that method saved me a lot of time because the not having the blue tape on the wood was so much easier to get the pattern off the wood and if I am doing fret work, it a huge time saver. I was against this method due to that sticky residue that is left on the wood. With this method the pattern just falls off the wood, almost magical and then IF there is a little residue left on the wood , after removal, a quick swipe of mineral spirits take it right off. If you have not tried this, I would like to suggest that you give it a shot at least once to evaluate the process and see if you get the same results that I do. Dick heppnerguy
  6. Thank you I will check it out Dick heppnerguy
  7. Hey Roly, Don't knock it..... Dick heppnerguy
  8. Nice table and chair project. Turned out to be really nice. I am not much of a woodworker, myself so I admire what others can do Dick heppnerguy
  9. I just went back to inkscape and clicked on the word selection as if to ad some letters and just typed the number and had no problem...double check that you have the right selection in the tool bar. Some times I think I have selected it and when I can not get the results i am after, I double check the tool bar only to find out that something else is selected then what I was after Dick heppnerguy
  10. I guess I am going to have to call upon your higher computer skill than mine, because I am not sure how to make the image smaller here, Roly Dick heppnerguy
  11. Not a bad idea. Paul. Keeping in mind that I would probably only want it in the silhouette mode, or else the time to cut one would double, bringing my asking price up by perhaps 50%. Actually, I just wanted to give a little different perspective to what everyone seems to be enjoying doing. Dick heppnerguy

great signs.. what the heck? Do you work for the Army ? Dick heppnerguy
  13. Nothing better than to honor our service people whenever we can. Great job Dick heppnerguy
  14. Dan, I really like this. You did a great job. Such a fun idea and very well executed work. I think I would like to make one and put it on my shop door too..but first I need to get your permission to copy your idea.. Dick heppnerguy
  15. And a nice and deserved pat on the back this is. Be sure to frame and hang the award certificate next to the winning piece. Dick heppnerguy
  16. A big WELCOME to The Village. There are some wonderful scroll craftsman and pattern makers in Portugal. Who knows, perhaps some day you too will be world know for your scrolling skills. It becomes quite addicting and it is a constant learning thing, for everyone who does it. You will find a lot of tips and ideas here and you probably will have some for us. Explore everything here in the sight. You will fine a lot of free patterns to download and cut, Be sure to go to the University in the forum section and watch some good tutorials on pattern making, if you are interested in making your own patterns. You will find them very helpful, I am sure. You might wish to drop in at the coffee house and chat with a lot of our fun loving folks here, but be prepared to be a part of the harassing that goes on there. It is an excellent way to get to know some of us and find yourself quickly into our world wide family. Explore everything. read the comments of others and contribute comments too. Just because you may not be as experienced as some others, certainly does not mean you have nothing to contribute. Most importantly, Ricardo, feel at home and log on often. We all love having you here Dick heppnerguy
  17. I see the intersecting word art really caught on, big time, here in The Village, So I thought i would throw something with a little different twist. So i quickly made a pattern and cut it, as an example. It is nothing really new, by any stretch of the imagination but I thought it might add a little interest to some. I see that Bob Scroll has been hammering out some nice state pieces. I love how easily he seems to come up with ideas and patterns. So it got me thinking, (and as you all know, I don't do a lot of that ), and so the attachment shows something a little different than I have been seeing here. From starting the design to finishing the glue up, it was all less than one hour. Might be a Quick craft show item, with your state as the subject, and with stack cutting, it could sell really cheap. This one was made from some Scrap pieces I had and is about 9 X 7 inches Dick heppenrguy
  18. Travis, That is why I was trying to find the original pattern. I try to respect your site policies. If I remember correctly, this was a free to download pattern, but i wanted to just know for sure Dick heppnerguy
  19. I agree. All of a sudden you realize that you are pushing your blade through your work. The job may still get done without a burning or even a wondering but if the blade is not easily cutting itself through the project easily on it's own, it is time to change the blade. sometimes I like my blades a little dulled if I am cutting thin boards with a lot of small fret work because the blade is now not quite as aggressive and i can make the sharp pointed areas without worrying about it cutting a small rounded area instead of a nice sharp pointy cut that I need there, and I do not need to attack that spot from two different direction but just rotate the piece and continue on with my cutting and it is still a very sharp looking, small cut, like I am after. 20. I already had one request from a person in Arizona for one of my signs. I think I may get more from that one sign hanging down there, if it is in a place where it can by seen. I had that kind of request from another piece I mailed down there a year ago of so Dick
  21. Bill, You don't need to fill the online garage sale site with a lot of different things. Just pick one or two that you can reproduce if you receive a few requests and see what happens that is what I did with mine. Too many things just make it harder for you, I think. Try one and see what happens.. Dick heppnerguy
  22. Marg. You got my buttons popping. You did a grand job. I hope it opens up a lot of new efforts for you in the very near future.. You are right about not jumping too fast but with a couple more on the easier side everything will become easier for you and you will be ready to tackle that motorcycle before you know it. I am so glad you did this. Now tell the others who are holding back, that it is not too difficult for them, as they seem to think that it is. I will PM you about another pattern for you to try Dick heppnerguy
  23. I am going to offer the local school sport signs in a couple of weeks. I am enjoying my rest as we will have our house loaded with guests over the next two weekend and part of the week in between Dick heppnerguy
  24. I use the method in the video. As i said before, I used the blue tape and glue stick method for years and swore by it. After giving this method a try, I will be with it until I find something better. It is extremely efficient for small fret cuts. and so much quicker and easier to remove pattern than it is with the blue tape. It all works and everyone has THEIR way. As for me, i enjoy the pattern directly on the wood, removed with paint thinner or mineral spirits. Thank you Paul for the video, I will not incorporate the foam brush too. I was only using a rag before but I see this will work even better Dick heppnerguy
  25. Perfect job. I love your new signs. My, everyone is giving the intersecting signs a try. It is obvious that I am not the only one who likes them.. Beautiful job.. Dick heppnerguy
