  1. I have become an admirer of your work and I always look anxiously to see your new posts. Dick heppnerguy
  2. I have added some colorizing to some of my pieces and i like them pretty well. It sure makes them pop Dick heppnerguy
  3. I like that you also include some sihlouettes in one of yours. I think it ads a lot to them, personally. I also like what Bob scroll did with his adding the swirls. Gives them more character, in my opinion.. good work. you are the word art guy. Dick heppnerguy
  4. I agree with the water based finishes not being the best choice, at least for me. I don't like the cleanup aspect of the oil bases, so I tried the water based ones but a few months later, the finish started to get a white overlay and eventually I threw out a large intarsia eagle and made another one to replace it. It was easier and quicker than trying to sand off the previous finish and redoing it. so for me, I choose to clean my brushes instead of using the water based finishes Dick heppnerguy
  5. I have not been able to find it, yet. I just am trying to give credits to the pattern makers when I know the source. If I decide to cut another, I will just copy and cut, like Paul suggests. and making another pattern from it, is also an easy solution. Thanks anyway people, I am surprised because it just seems like these kind of questions usually come up with someone that seems to have the answer, right away. Dick heppnerguy
  6. I am not sure how many patterns that i have because I move my patterns from my computer to CD's because I have had a couple of computer crashes and lost a lot of 'wanted' information, as a result. So I can only say, that I have more patterns than I want to count but not near what so many of you have. so I am just not going to be able to give any real numbers. I am always saving more and I know I will not ever cut all or probably even, most of the ones I have cut Dick heppnerguy
  7. I could but it is somewhere.. I will continue my research if I can find it , it will save me 15 minutesof hard labor on inkscape Dick heppnerguy
  8. A few years ago I made this sign because I liked the pattern. I remember it was a free pattern and for the life of me, I can not remember from where I got it. Does anyone happen to know where I can find it? Dick heppnerguy
  9. I just put some on a rag and wipe it across the pattern. since i started doing it the way Scrapile and Kevin suggests, I would never go back to the painters tape and spray, as I used and swore by for several years.. Dick heppnerguy
  10. All but one if these signs were picked up at my house because they were local and our town is so small. I did need to ship one to Arizona. They cost me for the glue, blades and sand paper, so maybe $1 each. I have a lot of wood for these that was given to me. The classified page was put on Facebook by a local gal. Kind of like the pages that a lot of us have for our woodworking. Anyone can make your town or city one on Facebook if they wish to. Our page is called something like Heppner Lexington Ione classified. I think you can easily find it if you look. It is not very big but it worked for me.
  11. Paul, With all that extra time on your hands, you used it wisely. You sure achieved a lot more than you would have, had you come to Heppner instead. What is that laying in the corner???? Oh, it is the dog and cats you were supposed to be taking care of while your wife was off quilting. They don't look too lively, I hope you didn't forget to feed them this week Dick heppnerguy
  12. In our little town, they have a facebook classified page, It is pretty new here and I had only heard about it last week. I thought I would give it a look. Mostly it was local woman selling cloths, tupperware and reducing pills. I thought, " What the heck, it costs nothing, i will place an add on it and see if I get any results. I posted in the morning and that evening the replies started coming in. It was the word embedded signs and I had just learned how to make them from Travis's tutorials. I screwed up the first one too. well within a couple of hours I had 7 orders from that post. I am selling the signs for $29. It must be a good price by the response I got. I only sold one off my Facebook page, that reaches a whole lot more people than our classified one does. so I made a couple hundred bucks in one day and enjoyed how easy they were to make. I suggested they choose a silhouette to put on the sign and everyone choose something different. I think it added a little more to the signs. Here is a photo 6 of the ones I made. Dick heppnerguy
  13. All the blade purchase places mentioned in the above posts are good ones. There is also https://www.thewoodenteddybear.com and several others. Be sure you listen to Clayton's clue about the big box stores, because he is exactly right. Most of the blade sellers allow you to choose a mix and match gross costs. One thing that I have found out is, everyone has their own particular blades that seem to work best for them. That is what you will need to figure out for yourself. I Use a lot of double toothed blades because they are not as aggressive as a lot of the others, making them easier to keep on the lines and make sharper turns, for me. On 3/4 inch wood, I prefer the scroll saw reverse tooth blades. I also have found if I use too small of a blade I do not do as well with staying on the pattern line and I get a lot of blade wondering.. That is just how it works for me. Others will argue. The spiral blades have a lot of good things that can make your cutting a lot easier and quicker, but for others like myself, I just can't seem to get them to work very well for me and I avoid them all together.. Try them though.. Dick heppnerguy
  14. Oh. A woman? That explains the attitude look Dick Heppnerguy
  15. Looks like you had some nice pieces. I have found that intarsia did not work very well for me because one has to price them higher then people are looking to spend. I think you did pretty well, to cover the costs. I also believe that one should have a business card to hand out because people often wish they had spent that extra to get one of the things they decided not to get at the show and a card can give you sales weeks after the sale Dick heppnerguy
  16. You have been a busy guy, Roly.. I love it when I come out of the shop with several items finished.. Because I do not do craft shows, I usually have a gift of two to cut. I love me shop time. Dick heppnerguy
  17. Nice job on the puzzle cutting . i have made a few and so far as I know, I have no sticking problem with mine. At least I have heard of none. I used the regular wood glue. not sure why I was so lucky with it. Maybe I should make one for myself and put it together a few times and see what happens. Dick heppnerguy
  18. This one sure brings out the attitude of the guy, I know nothing about the walking dead but I like your cutting job on this Dick heppnerguy
  19. That is some serious presses. Dick heppnerguy
  20. Wow, I did not expect to get this big support for my idea. I don't want anyone to think it is my bag. If you think it will work for you too, then go for it. They are fun to make and they are really special. I think using a school mascot or logo might be stepping on copyright things, so I think I won't do them, but a good thought. I did post a photo of one of the name plaques and I got 5 orders on the first day. I live in a really small town so there is not things like pop Warner football and non school sports but there are a couple of other small towns around here, so mayb ethey will work out well. I am selling them for $29 and it seems to be a good price. Oh, I sold one to someone in Arizona too. Busy day tomorrow. Thanks for all the support. Dick heppnerguy
  21. Paul, Shame on you, I sure hope Patty does not read your posts or you may doing more scrolling then you want to, because she just might not let you back into the house for some time to come. Dick heppnerguy
  22. Congratulations. My bride and i are about 4 years ahead of you but it was the 50th that meant so much to both of us. I also cut a scroll item for my wife on our anniversary too. It still hangs on our wall for all to see. I am sure yours will bring memories of this wonderful day for you two as long as you shall live. Dick heppnerguy
  23. maybe the magnets were not strong enough to do the job...if you have no vice, you might hold it in your teeth and then hit it with a hammer, that is what i would try if it were me. Dick heppnerguy
  24. I guess it was my mistake, I didn't click on the correct link.. but when i PM Travis, he got right on it and fixed it up for me.. I am glad you pointed that out to me. It was embarrassing but I am glad you poked fun of me on it. I looked like a hypocrite. Dick heppnerguy
  25. I am enjoying the intersecting word art a lot too. They are simple and quick patterns to make and they cut in less than an hour. My kind of thing Dick heppnerguy
