  1. Ok guys.. this one is so easy.. I could do this one in under 1 hour, It would take about 15 minutes max to cut and another 15 minutes max to sand and shape and then 30 minutes max to cut mounting board and glue it on. How does that take retirement to do ???????????????? No excuses just go for it.. Dick heppnerguy
  2. write him a nice piece about what he meant to you. Of his sacrificing love and the directions and morals he taught you. about the ball games he took you to and about the sports he watched you play. About the dreams he helped you to find as your own reality and about how important it was that he was there for you when you needed someone the most. How he taught you to fish and hunt and make a campfire. The times he helped you with your homework and the rides he gave you when you needed to be somewhere and you didn't want to walk that far. the Christmas's you shared and the 4th of July fireworks he took you to see. How he helped you to learn to ride your bike and get up when you fell off of it and get back on. How much he meant to you and how you will never stop thinking about him as long as you live. if you are thinking about something you would like to make for him, now would be a good time to make a cross that has a place for his name, dates and maybe a place for a photo of him that you will pass down to your younger family members to keep his memory alive. You can find a good example of this kind of cross on www.scrollsawartist,com. Really sorry to hear about your loss. My prayers are with you and your family.. Dick heppnerguy
  3. Did you see the post about using a stiff brush ? After i cut something I next sand it with my orbital sander and then I use a brush on whatever fuzzies are left. Seems to work at good as anything I have ever tried. Just to let you know, I did this with my Eiffel Tower, which has hundreds if not thousands of very tiny and small cuts and I never broke out a single part of it. Dick heppnerguy
  4. OK, guys and gals, I have seen where many of you have been thinking about doing an intarsia piece but a little hesitant because it maybe looks like something you might not be successful at completing it. Let me set your mind at ease and encourage you to give it a try. The photo of the dolphin intarsia is the first intarsia piece I did. I looked at some patterns and decided if I was to make a really easy one to try, I would know right away if it was doable of not, for me. I drew up this 6 piece item and I even cut it on my bandsaw as I did not have good experiences with my scrollsaw from previous efforts. ( Later as I got interested in pursuing my new found in interest in intarsia, I learned about using the right blades and some other tips I picked up on line, and I found success with my scrollsaw and never looked back after that} So if I could make this simple intarsia piece and didn't even use my scrollsaw, think what you could produce with your skill on your scroll saw?? so make a pattern of this simple dolphin and try it, I am confident that you will discover that you too can do this.. EVEN YOU. ROLY. Good luck to all, if you prefer, you can PM and i will send you this pattern. Dick heppnergfuy
  5. Carl, i have not heard of this product being for sale anywhere around my area, but I have scrolled bamboo in thin sheets, which might be the name of the product, and I was not aware of it. I have to say that bamboo is a wonderful item to scroll because is it very dense and it does not break easily when cutting. I cut a small ornament out of bamboo and it was not any thicker than a sheet of paper. It came out realy well. I would not hesitate to give it a go if I were you. Dick heppnerguy
  6. way to go.. you are a working machine Dick heppnerguy

  11. I find these paint pens to do a really good job and there are no obvious lines as everything blends in so well. Try them if you think they may come in handy and I think you will like them. only problem is the color selection is quite limited Dick heppnerguy
  12. Welcome Linda, So glad you found us here at The Village. This site looks more like a UK site than one based in America. I am retired and live is a small town in the middle eastern part of Oregon. My little town is called Heppner. Your shop is amazing. I have a nice shop but it is always messy and in need of organization. How about coming over and help getting me organized ? Oh, really it would be a waste of time because I am my own worse enemy and I would have it all messed up within 24 hours of you organizing it all. Hope you drop in often and please take the time to check out all the nooks and crannies here. there is a lot to see and do. AS you have already discovered there are a lot of really nice people, who all feel like we are one big family. Come back often Dick heppnerguy
  13. Welcome Lee, we don't live very far away from each other. I hope you stay in touch with everyone here in The Village, I believe if you do, you will make a bunch of new friends, many from the other side of this planet we share. Follow up with some photo of your saw, as there are most likely someone that knows all about your saw here. If you do not understand how to do anything here, just ask and it will be explained to your. Dick heppnerguy
  14. Here is a pattern by Judy Gale Roberts that is sort of a combination of scrolling and intarsia. I made this for a very dear friend of mine whom I fished and hunted with for many years. It is approx 10 X 10 inches. Dick heppnerguy
  15. Larry, It was Steve Good's woven basket that got me interested in trying scrolling. this latest basket looks like a near duplicate of a previous one he made. i down loaded this pattern to cut and looked at the one I had already made and decided not to make it. You did a nice job with it and now i may go ahead and make it too. Thank you for posting this fine piece. Dick heppnerguy
  16. everyone could use one of these hanging on their wall, I believe. Very nicely done Dick heppnerguy
  17. A week or two ago I had posted something about using a paint pen and Kevin ask for a photo of the paint pen I used and I forgot all about posting it, so for you Kevin and anyone else that might like to see what I use occasionally, here is one of them. They sell for under $2 at Wal Mart and they are easy to use and work on almost any surface, Dick heppnerguy
  18. Well Steve. you have already discovered the insanity that exists here in The Village, Don't let that scare you none, you can check out any time you want but you can't go away... This site is filled with a wonderful assortment of fun and talented people who never judge others, only accept them as ours. feel free to roam all around the village and post away so we know you have been here. Dick heppnerguy
  19. I too am retired. First I want to express my sorry over the losing of your wife. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to no longer have the most important person in your life to no longer be able to share life with. Welcome to the village, this place certainly can fill in any lonely spots in your life because everyone here quickly becomes part of your family, if you come back often, so please do that. feel free to explore the entire site and help yourself to as many patterns that you might feel like making. Glad you found us Dick heppnerguy

  22. Come on, Roly.....Kevin lives is Florida, no body wear bras in Florida..
  23. Wow.. I like them a lot. A great piece, I also think the darker one stands out better but either would look good on my wall Dick heppnerguy
  24. The very first thing that I tried in scrolling was to make my granddaughters name. I was surprised how well it came out until I realized that I also misspelled her name. Good thing word art like this only takes a few minutes to knock out. Dick heppnerguy
  25. Hans, Hans, Hans, I love that you just picked up and went for it. Reminded me of someone else who had to "do it over".. I wish you would ease up a little, do you know what you are doing to me? OH, just enjoy your work and everything will be fine. Good advice. I will try to do that Dick heppnerguy
