  1. I saw this project on Sky's web sight and really loved it. You got this one down pat. It came out absolutely beautiful. You have come a long ways in the past couple of years, trying different things with wood and it looks like everything you try, you are very successful at doing it well. Congratulations on your successes. It has to be very rewarding for you too. Dick heppnerguy
  2. As the heading states, this is not a bragging thing for sure. It is, hopefully, a start at trying to learn colorizing a scroll pattern. I have tried adding color to my scroll work several times and then I gave up. Recently I cut a project that is very detailed and I want to add color to it as I think it would make the project really stand out if I can succeed in doing it and not making a mess of things. I understand that with my great lack of artistic skills, I have a long way to go before I touch the project that I do not wish to ruin. If I ever get to a place where I feel I can accomplish my wishes with colors, I will take a stab at it and post it here. Don't hold you breath though as it could take a long time for me to get to that point, if I ever do. I am certainly open to helpful comments by anyone that thinks they my have any suggestions that my help me to reach my goal. I also tried to add some background items to try and see if it is possible to bring more interest to this particular piece. Just now as I was posting the two photos, I saw where I missed the beard of the moose. Dick heppnerguy heppnerguy
  3. Oh, I really like this project. It is a great eye catcher. Just in time for Valentine's Day too Dick heppnerguy
  4. I really like all of your projects and besides who would ever even see any thing that was not perfect here anyway. Dick heppnerguy
  5. Now this is what I call a good useful and truly interesting project. Dick heppnerguy
  6. nicely done and a great use of a wood source. Wood is getting way too expensive as is most everything else. Dick heppnerguy
  7. When I looked for a pattern on this sight, I was unable to find one. I will take another look and see if I can find it here. Dick heppnerguy
  8. I love watching your videos and seeing the items you are cutting. So glad you came on board here. Dick heppnerguy
  9. You are one busy guy, turning out some fun and nice projects. Thanks for posting them for the rest of us to also enjoy. Dick heppnerguy
  10. thank you for your nice comment. It is really appreciated. My granddaughter told me the person she gave it to really loved it so that makes it all worth while. Dick heppnerguy
  11. I thought the exact thing and I did do that but I didn't like how it came out and painted over it. It just did not seem to work for me at that time. I am trying to figure out how to add color to my scroll work so I took a piece I had cut awhile back and made my first effort adt trying to understand just how to accomplish my goal. I am not a very artist guy so I though I did fairly well with my first effort but I also understand I have a lot to learn and they say practice makes perfect. Although I can not see myself as ever managing to reach 'perfect', I do wish to learn what will be acceptable to me. I am posting my efforts of my first efforts at adding color and it is a long long way from where I want to be, but it is only my first efforts so time should either see me reach my goal or to accept that I just do not have the talent for adding color to my scroll work. Dick heppnerguy
  12. Thank you, Dave. This project went quite smoothly for me from start to finish. Dick heppnerguy
  13. Thank you Barb. Now that you have become such an all around wood artist it is nice to have a comment like that from you as you understand the fun and the trouble of some wood working projects. This one went quite well for me from start to finish Dick heppnerguy
  14. Thank you, Paul. Always good if I get an approval from you. As you probably know, I am not a domestic animal person, although my wife is and we have had one kind of an animal or another ever since we have been married so I guess I have learned to tolerate them by now. Dick heppnerguy
  15. I love it when a project comes through without any major problems. Everything fit perfectly this time. Thank you for the nice comments. Dick heppnerguy
  16. Thank you. I am happy with the end results of this project and I was glad to hear that the person it went to was also happy with it. Dick heppnerguy
  17. My granddaughter has a neighbor who helper her out a lot when she is traveling, which she does quite often and he has a bloodhound so she ask me to make one for her to give as a thank you. This was to only pattern I could find so I made it and sent it to her. I had a small amount of damage on it but she was able to repair it and she told me that he 'loved it'. So glad I could help her with this. Dick heppnerguy
  18. So nice of you to give your time to others so that they may have a start on a new hobby of their own. Dick heppnerguy
  19. We have a good friend who loves these cows. I am thinking about making her an Intarsia one, after I confirm that it is truly something she loves. As always your work is outstanding. Love it. I like the frame as it is because to me, using the little darker wood for the project, a lighter frame is more fitting. Dick heppnerguy
  20. What a great quote. It certainly is true. I am spending less time in my shop lately but when I do go there, I find I still love my hobby Dick heppnerguy
  21. I have the same problem sometimes as I am gluing the peaces after I have fit them all together and find they somehow are not getting back in place perfectly now. Dick heppnerguy
  22. This is indeed a very nice tribute to Jane. You do an amazing job on your pattern making and produce some wonderful pieces for you wall collection as time goes on. I still have not taken the time to concentrate on pattern making and now I am getting more elderly and it is looking like I probably will not be taking the time to ever accomplish one of my many goals that don't seem to get done anymore. So glad you have accomplished yours. Thanks for posting them for the rest of us to admire. Dick Heppnerguy
  23. the project almost tells a story just looking at it. A lot going on in this well done project Dick Heppnerguy
  24. What a great idea and a truly exciting time for you, your grandson and the actor too. Everyone won on that idea. Dick heppnerguy
  25. Good thinking on your part. Free wood and turning a potential waste item into a nice display for the wall or desk. Dick heppnerguy
