  1. Thank you for your nice comments. I am just starting to try and understand how to hopefully achieve what i am after, as far as knowledge and ability. I think I can do what I am after with a few more tries. Dick heppnerguy
  2. I should be continuing my efforts, hopefully this week. I am working on a couple of orders but hope to stay with both. I agree that color makes otherwise somewhat boring projects, or even nicely done project stand out even more. Dick heppnerguy
  3. thank you for your tips. I am looking for this kind of replies so i can finally achieve what i am after. I have been doing exactly what you are suggesting and will continue to try new things as I go along. Thank you so much for your reply Dick heppnerguy
  4. I love anything she might be willing to give to me, both positive and negative as well. That is what I am looking for so I can understand where I can improve and getting advice from someone like your wife would be so helpful. Thanks for letting me know. I should have something to post in the next couple of days or maybe even sooner, I hope. Dick heppnerguy
  5. I have so much money tide into acrylic right now that I need to stay with it and do more experimenting. I will keep this in mind and hope maybe down the road I will be able to try Unicorn paint as well Dick heppnerguy
  6. No Rick, I have seen no raise on my wood's fibers as of yet. I am using BB PLY as you mentioned though. Thank you for your encouragement on efforts, they are very much appreciated too Dick heppnerguy
  7. Thank you so much for your nice comments. Do you have any correctional comments that you might share with me so as to help me in my learning efforts? Dick heppnerguy
  8. Wow, I can't believe my work efforts would ever get that kind of results, especially from someone as obviously as talented as your wife is. I would REALLY like to hear some critique from her. That could be so very helpful to my efforts. Dick heppnerguy
  9. thank you Dave. I think I am doing a little better than I have in the past but still striving to get a feel for what i am doing and understanding where I need to work on more. Dick heppnerguy
  10. thank you for your comments about TransTint dyes, I will take a look at them. I do have a lot of acrylic paints and that is what I am using in the ones I have posted so far. I also make different colors by mixing two or more together and so far I have been happy with them. Dick heppnerguy
  11. So would you recommend these instead of acrylics, or have you used both and now have a favorite one. Not sure how to take your statement. I have to say, they are a little better than most others I have tried to paint but I have not come near what I am after yet. Dick heppnerguy
  12. I know I have a long, long way to go but hopefully, Paul, I will be able to do the project I am wanting to finish with colorization and feel good about my efforts when I actually try my new understanding about how to go after what I are my intentions and end up being happy with my efforts instead of wishing I had never even bothered to try and colorize them. Dick heppnerguy
  13. I am using acrylic water based paints. I try to use it lightly and add a second coat if I feel it needs it. Thank you for your comments, I am just trying to understand and perfect my lack of skills because I am wanting to also paint a project I cut and I hope to understand what I am doing after I paint a few more of my many extra projects I really did not bother finishing them or I did finish another copy I had cut so these are sitting on a closed shelf in my shop. Dick heppnerguy
  14. I am posting these so that I might receive some helpful suggestions that I am not considering as I go through my effort to learn to paint some of my woodworking. I also hope that in time I will be showing some progress as that is what I am after with these posts. It the first one Used black followed be a gray. It blended in so much that it was really difficult to see much so I added a reddish color and that seemed to help some. The last piece I cut years ago and I stumbled on it and decided to give it a go and this is the results of that effort. Dick heppnerguy
  15. It is an effort to hopefully develop a little skill so I will be able to color, successfully, the one I really wish to colorize without destroying it. That is why I am making several efforts by coloring some work that I was not very interested in and never framed or finished, and some that I had cut extra pieces that I really did not particularly want and were sitting on a shelf in my shop. Dick heppner
  16. I cut this quite awhile ago and it appeared to me I was originally showing the back side so one can see the difference the coloring made to make the project stand out more. Then I colored what I thought to be the front of the image and that is why the two are facing opposite directions. Dick heppnerguy
  17. I like how this project tells a story just by looking at it. well done too Dick heppnerguy
  18. fun watching you do your project. I enjoy your attitude and what you are doing for others. Dick heppnerguy
  19. As always, a beautiful job. I think I like the frame in a lighter color as the background color is on the darker side. Just my opinion for what ever that may be worth..I know your talent far exceeds mine, so you probably have a much better idea than I would ever come up with. Dick heppnerguy
  20. What a great and colorful project. This is so attractive. Is this one of your patterns? Love it Dick heppnerguy
  21. your Skill level shows in this piece. It is very well done. Dick heppnerguy
  22. Easy to see why you like this one. It is a fabulous project. You did a great job on it. I still have have not cut a tree of life. Should do one soon. myself. Dick heppnerguy
  23. Thank you. It takes time, effort and probably a lot of dissapointment to finally be comfortable with something new. I am planning of seeing if I can, at some time, feel like I am starting to 'GET IT', if you know what I mean. Dick heppnerguy
  24. Thank you. I will take a peek and see what you are talking about. I have not heard of this before. Not sure I would be comfortable with them but sure worth the effort to check them out. Thank you for your input. I appreciate it a lot. Dick heppnerguy
  25. I am happy to get suggestions and even a bit of dislikes some times. I feel I learn a lot from others when they are bold enough to critique my work. I find it all helpful. Like I said, I tried to do the eyes but did not like the results. Always feel free when you see something I have tried or forgotten and let me know anything you think might make my work better.
