  1. nice job, i have never used elm before.. will have to see if there is any around.. Dick heppnerguy
  2. I use the 2 X 4 and I do not feel it takes any time to set or Unset. It is an automatic part of cutting for me and I just don't feel the need for a device for it. Maybeif I had one, I would feel differently about it, but it is so much easier than trying to wrestle with the arm, that as soon as i finally tried it, I could not find any fault in it. Larry...try the 2X4 it is so much better than using your own arm.. hey maybe others would say the same thing to me about the lifter arm. Dick heppnerguy
  3. Kevin, Glad to hear that you found yourself a new saw for a good price. Now go do the right thing and make 6 more boxes of things. Dick heppnerguy
  4. I have a good friend who is a recently retire music teacher. she now continues to teach as a substitute music teacher. She had a knee replaced this week and happen to recieve an email for Steve Good containing a new music pattern he had posted on his sight. I immediately thought of my music teacher friend and made her the sign today. I will have it in the mail to her in the morning. It was difficult to photograph for some reason, but here is the best photo of it, that I could get.
  5. look out everyone, Maggie is about to make the sawdust fly. Dick heppnerguy

Glad you found us. Dick heppnerguy
  7. Can't add much to what everyone else has said here, so I will just give you a pat on the back.. did you feel it? Dick heppenrguy
  8. very interesting piece. I love the new ideas that I find here on The Village. good project Dick heppnerguy
  9. You are doing some to the nicest protrait cutting that I have seen anywhere. Amazingly clean, presise lines. Dick heppnerguy
  10. I not only like your work but I like what it says Dick heppnerguy
  11. You are truly a versitile wood worker. I enjoyed going through your collection of work that you posted. I particularilly enjoyed your miniature things. You are a pretty amazing person.. Thank you for posting them I hope you continue to return often so we can enjoy your work. Dick heppnerguy
  12. A really nice job with this.. Dick heppneruguy
  13. Dennis, It is nice to have some great pattern makers so willing to help us when we need it. It is also rewarding to them that people actually cut the pieces as well as you did Dick heppnerguy
  14. A lot of souls like to throw darts and I bet most of them don't have a good place like this to put them in after the game is over. Great idea Dick heppnerguy
  15. Sully, You are so right again. I found that making things just for possible sales took the fun out of scrolling and after that I not longer have been interested in doing something like that. I do sell through Facebook but it is only to hlep my pay for my materials and what ever additional tools I might want to venture into. I have done fairly well with that and really enjoy the feed back I get. I tried Itsy once nad a couple of days later, I couldn't even fine my own things there, so If I couldn't find them, how am I going to expect someone else to? if you find something that the public really likes and consistantly sell well, I would tend to stick with that for the most part. I saw a girl with an intarsia booth and she just sold dogs. A lot of people have and love dogs. or maybe western things for rodeo people.. that sort of thing. Jim has the right idea, where he has found a great item that appeals to many and they are easy for him to make because he makes them a lot. As far as doing it for a living, I would say, dont waste your time. that is just my oppinion and even I question that a lot. Dick heppnerguy
  16. Pat, have you checked out the university tab yet? it has several tutorials that have to do with Inkscape. They are very well done and very helpful. I think you will like it here. you can learn, learn, learn while it is cold, cold. cold and then hit the shop and saw, saw, saw to your heats content. hope to see you here often. We all welcome you with open arms.. Dick heppnerguy
  17. Onder, Be sure and check in often and take a lot of tours on this web site. I thnk you will find it interesting and informative. We have people here from all over the world but I think you are the first from Turkey. I hear it is a beautiful place. Welcome and hope to see some of your wood working. Dick heppnerguy
  18. Not much left for me to say except I am swept off my feet by your great talent and skills. A wonderful project Dick heppnerguy
  19. That certainly looks like a perfect and easy and inexpensive fix to me.. I love all the knowledge that is shared here. Dick heppnerguy
  20. Edward, If you really do not understand bridges very well, then I too would be in favor of cutting the pieces separately and gluing them in place. You couls also possibly cut them as inlays too, I believe, but I haven't done enough of that yet to be real sure. Dick heppnerguy
  21. Every once in awhile we fall into luck like this. We all know that there are people out there with good scrollsaws that are collecting rust just because they are not used or even wanted.. Lucky you Dick heppnerguy
  22. Absoutely (sp) amazing. One can't knock this project. I am scratching my head, trying to figure out how to connect my dust collector to my scroll saw and then I come across this. Boy that really makes me feel stupid. I really enjoy seeing people who have such a wonderful ability to figure out how to build something as complex as this and have it work so perfectly. Thanks Travis for sharing this with us. Now I need to go out to my shop and take another look at me really small task of sonnecting my dust collector so it picks up my saw dust. Dick heppnerguy

    hi

Hi Richard, I do hope that you get back into scrolling. I am sorry about you losing your father. I too lost my father a number of years ago. Have something to do that both of you were into is a nice way to celebrate his life with you. Your father would be happy to know that you are pursuing the hobby you enjoying doing together. I am glad that you found this website and hope you come here often. My suggestion would be that you explore everything on the 'forum', then respond to the previous posts. By doing so you will get to know the regulars here and quickly feel that you are part of this world wide family of scrollers. Everyone has something to offer and many do so on a regular basis. Be sure and ask any questions that you may have. be sure and check out all the free patterns here and you will not be short of something to cut. Richard, you said that you hoped you would make some friends here and I can assure you if you sign in often and participate often, you will have more new friends than you can imagine. I, personally coorispond with several of the people here on The Village and enjoy the new relationships that I have come to enjoy just because of being here There are several Texans on board here too. So sit back, sign in, post and enjoy getting to know everyone, that way we too benefit by knowing you Dick heppnerguy
