  9. wow that does sound pretty safe to me. Were you in the shop when it caught fire? My shop is a stick built shop and I have the same idea as you did. I love the way it heats up so easily, I am going to be rethinking my setup, because I sure do not want anything like that to happen to me. I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Are you planning on rebuilding it? I hope so, It must be awful to have that happen, Is there anything that I can do to help you? Dick heppnerguy
  10. I posted a photo puzzle on my Facebook page and within 2 hours I had sales for 5 of them. They are so easy to make and I can not believe how much people like them . I advertise them for memories of births, birthdays. weddings, Christmas, vacation, any place there is a memory you would like to pass on of keep for the fun. Just have me make you a puzzle. Might want to consider it, Jessy. An easy free hand thing to do and the cost is minimal. good job Keep it up Dick heppnerguy
  11. you did a marveous job with it.. Dick heppnerguy
  12. I just wish to add that I too, really like your portrait here.. Great job Dick heppnerguy
  13. an a mazingly well cut piece. It looks so fresh and pleasing to the eye. It almost brings out the personality of the dog in the portrait. Dick heppnerguy
  14. I really like the piece and the frame job you did. By the way, is this pattern available to download anywhere, I would really like to cut it Dick heppnerguy
  15. I have never seen anything like this..It is interesting how much is in this piece.. the frame looks very nice too.. another thing I need to get into making Dick heppnerguy
  16. I do my cutting sitting on a backless bar stool and I am often in my shop for 4 hours to 8 hours and sometimes more. I prefer that to watching tv or anything else in the house. I do tell my wife that I can quit any time that shehas something she would like to do, like going to play cards with neighbors. I bought her an Ipad last Valentines day so she keeps herself busy with cards on line and Words with Friends. Dick heppnerguy
  17. It sounds like you had a wood stove in your shop. Is that the case? I too have one in mine.. I am a little concerned about howhot it can get. I am working a metal divider between my stove and my nearby walls. sorry of your loss. Are you planning on rebuilding it ? I hope so.. good luck..It has to be a tough thing to face.. Dick heppnerguy
  18. Larry, Intersting question. I will be following this thread and see what jumps out at me. I some times have used food coloring to obtain a colorization on an intarsia piece. You have to admit that isn't something most people will have in their shop.. I also use a plastic mustard dispensor for my glue applications. I also use waxed paper when I am gluing something over the top of a pattern so I can see exactly where a piece needs to be glued, this also in when I an doing intarsia, and my glued items do not stick to the waxed paper so it serves a dual purpaose for me. There are my first contributions. Dick heppnerguy PS i would like to hear a little more about your press and seal and how you use it..sounds interesting to me
  19. Hi Gary, Welcome to The Village, The most important thing is to have fun with scrolling. I only have one suggestion for you. When you get your saw, be sure and give your wife a kiss and tell her you love her and she may not see you for a few weeks, at least not for very long. Then go to the shop and have fun..HINT; the one thing you need to keep in mind is to start off by making your wife a few things that she likes and then she will be OK with you in the shop. Seriously, If you have any questions about anything then fire away, keep coming back as often as you can and let us get to know you and you to know all of us. Your will quickly find that we are a big, world wide family and we are all very friendly. Bendita is right, it won't be very long before you too will know you are part of this family. Dick heppnerguy
  20. I was on this thread a little while ago and for some reason i was unable to open your post picture nor could I post my reply, so I am going to retype it. I have found that the spiral blades do not give me the cleaner cut I am looking for so I opt to use a double tooth blade instead, Some people unjoy the spiral blades and do wonderful work with them. I also am not able to keep very good control with them. Everyone has a blade that works for them, personally, so if you likethe spiral blade, then I suggest you go for it. Travis made a good suggesting about stack cutting and I also do that when I cut with 1/8th inch wood. It not only helps with at cleaner cut but I find it makes the blade less agressive and eaier to control in very tight areas, where on slip could end up making the piece a scrap. I am glad you asked about it and we would be interested and knowing what you finally did with it. After being able to pull up your photo and seeing it, I have to add that you did a great job with the cutting. Cleaning up fuzzies is a regular part of scrolling Dick heppnerguy
  21. Here are a couple of items I made over the weekend. Nothing big just a couple of gifts. Both of these are Steve Goods patterns. Ihave a couple of other intarsia gifts to make and I will be starting one of them today, So good to be making saw dust again Dick heppnerguy
  22. I saw some coins cut, years ago and I am going to also give this a try some time. I always liked them. Thanks for the reminder, Roly. Dick heppnerguy

  25. Dan, I know that is scary.. I have experienced chest pains from time to time and I always check out just fine. I still have them from time to time but I really am in excellent health..not sure what it is all about but I hope it is just a strange oddity like mine is . Dick heppnerguy
