  1. Wen has been around a long time. They make drill bit sharpeners too. Their products seem to work Ok and the price is an earmark for the quality. i purchased on of these items from Harbor Freight a few years ago and I use is a fair amount of times. and it still works as well as it ever has. If at some point it decides to give up teh ghost, I will just throw it away. I say, go for it. How can you go wrong? Dick heppnerguy
  2. like Roly said, Is there any chance that you might share that pattern with us, Keith? I would love to make one of these for my son. this is a winner. You did a great job with it from start to finish Dick heppnerguy
  3. glad you are enjoying your new saw as we are now enjoying your work that you are producing with it. Dick heppnerguy
  4. I have had my eye on one of these too. too much to try. only 24 hours in our days in Heppner. dang. Great job Dick heppnerguy
  5. wow you don't get that reaction from a store bought thing........unless it is an I-phone very nicely done Dick heppnerguy
  6. GOOD NEWS. You must be one happy little girl. Dick heppnerguy
  7. I personally like black for most scrolling projects because it usually stands out the best, but this one would be nice to do with different background. I am just going to wait and see what you choose.. will check back to view it Dick heppnerguy
  8. Marion, that is a good pattern to start out doing Intarsia. Not too many pieces and good instruction. I always use my computer and scanner to make my pattern pieces because I found it quuicker and more accurate for me. good tip here on the beginning intarsia. There are several people here that have mentioned that they would like to try intarsia but have not done so for several reasons. Here is the perfect piece to do, if you even desire to give it a try. 9. Our little Eastern Oregon town of Heppner was founded by Irish people. So the neareest weekend to St Patrick's Day, we have a parade, street sales and many activities that attract people from quite a ways away. I found a pattern that I thought would be perfect for this event. Since we usually have quite a few family members and friends come to our house for this and also because my wife, Sharon, enjoyes decorating for every holiday, I choose to make a decoration that will come out once a year and surprise me because I usually forget about the decorations as soon as they are put away. I thought this would be a perfect one for here. Dick heppnerguy
  10. Oh sorry, Travis, I did not understand. I thought as long as it was not a pattern that you have to purchase in order to obtain it, (like on line), that it was the same as a free pattern. Thank you for your notification. I try to follow the rules here. My oppology to you and everyone else it effects. Glad to understand that. I will just repost the magazine information. That is OK, right? Dick heppnerguy
  11. Good for you Fay, Glad to see your enthusiasm with your new saw. Here is a tip for you. If you don't already do this, get yourself a piece of scrap 2X4 about 8 to 10 inches long and as you are changing the blade from one hole to the next one to cut, slide the board under the arm of the saw. This will free both hands to do your work. Once you try it, you will find that it saves you a lot of frustration that you may not have even realized you were going through. Looking forward to seeing more of your work. So much for TV for awhile Dick heppnerguy
  12. here you go Bill. It you need to increase the size and do not know how to do that, just ask. That was all there was to the pattern. The article said to use earth magnets to secure a photo to it, if that is what you would like to do. I was surprised that it was not nearly as sifficult as it looked like it would be. Enjoy/ Dick heppnerguy
  13. One other thought for you. Check that the set screw (opposite the tention knob sido f the blade) and make sure that it has not backed into it's female contact. Be sure the set screw is pretruding enough to make good contact on the blade. The sanding of both sides of the contacts is often helpful, Like Kevin suggested. I would not recommend that you use any kind of tightening device on your thumb screw. I know a lot of people do it, but it everything else is properly adjusted, it should not be necessary. the problem that I have often heard about it it usually causes the thumbscrew to eventually strip out. That is my take on your problem. It really isn't a big problem to take care of if you do what is suggested to you Good luck. let us know if you still have a problem. Dick heppenrguy
  14. I think this is the first time that I have seen someone cut their own portrait. An interesting idea. I could cut one of myself and put it in our kitchen cabinets, that would help keep the mice away too Dick heppnerguy
  15. Nice pole rack. I really like the way you made it. It is very functional as well as nice looking. Dick heppnerguy
  16. I too saw the video and I also saw them demode at a trade shop years ago. I don't think I would pass up the $350 price, if the saw was running well. Dick heppnerguy
  17. Thank you, everyone. I enjoyed making them for her, as much as she loves them. Scrolling makes it easy to find something for anyone, especially for your loving spouse. Makes both of us happy Dick heppnerguy
  18. so glad you received your saw. I was telling my wife about your saw yesterday. Nice to know you have no need to continue waiting for it's arrival. Christmas in February. BTW my wife was born in Port Townsend and we have family in Hadlock, so we are somewhat familiar with where you live. a beautiful area indeed good sawing. Dick heppnerguy
  19. this is what I made for my bride for Valentines Day. It is a picture frame that uses earth magnets. (still on the way ) Second is a little decorative box.
  20. Nice twist on an otherwise typical piece. I like your imagination here. Thanks for sharing. I will try this one just for a change Dick heppnerguy
  21. the European members probably do not understand the need for this but we Americans sure do. Dick heppnerguy
  22. I like the action that jumps out at you in this piece, It is a fun one that opens doors for a lot of possabilities Dick heppnerguy
  23. Cute idea and a good jump ahead of everyone else. You did a splended job with it. The benefactor of the this one should be pretty happy indeed Dick heppnerguy
  24. Roly, I was eyeing that one too. I velieve it was Steve Good's best Valentine piece this year. You did another faulous job, but then I would not expect to see anything but, from you Dick heppenrguy
