interesting variety of ideas here, I hope to be able to find this at a later date when I need it all..I think I should buy myself a notebook and write the ideas I like in it, then I could find it when I wanted to. I continually read new ideas here and I continually forget where I saw them..I can;t imagine what it will be like when I finally get old Dick heppnerguy

I know I got this pattern from this sight but I looked in the pattern 'animals' album and could not find it. It had the signature logo of the maker but I could not decipher it. so as much as I would like to give the pattern maker his credit, I am unable to at this time. I hope someone else will know who it is and write in the credit for me.. Anyway, I liked the pattern so i cut it for my granddaughter. Thanks for looking. I used a purple felt backing on it Dick heppnerguy

Marg, Come to my house and organize mine for me.. I am not good at organization, even in a little way. And a trip to the States might be fun too Dick heppnerguy

Dan, You are so creative and come up with some great ideas.. these are in that category Dick heppnerguy

Wood chatter often can be caused by a blade being put in with the teeth pointing up instead of down.. always check that out if it seems to happen very much in a row. Even after checking the direction of the teeth, I have still put them in wrong, sometimes Dick heppnerguy

I purchase lemon oil at the grocery store and it is not cheap, but brings out the color in the wood. I now have access to all of the poplar i want. I get it in 2 0r 3 X 6 or 8 inches. I would be great if I lived by someone and could trade woods. I like black Walnut, as my favorite wood because of the color and the smooth cutting with a scroll saw. Dick heppnerguy

If Ron cuts it..It is always nice. A true artist, for sure. Dick heppnerguy

fun to watch others scroll. We all do things a little different, and that is where we learn from others.. I haven't an Idea of how to make a video, so I am always amazed at the control one has over making one. Good effort Dick heppnerguy

thank you everyone for the nice compliments.. I enjoy making gifts for people a lot. Then they are usually appreciated and that makes it a joy to do. That is why I do not enjoy making things that I hope will sell. that is just me, I guess. Dick heppnerguy

Ken, I have seen the saw but I have never used it. I might suggest that you pick up some #3 ultra reverse blades too, if you plan to cut anything thinner than 1/2 inch wood. I like to us a double tooth blade #3 or #2 for thin pieces pieces with small delicate cuts because they are not as aggresive and much easier to control...at least for me.. Keep up the good work, I love your efforts. Dick heppnerguy

In our little town, one of our favorite doctors is retiring at the end of April. so I remembered that Sue Mey has some great " proud to be" plaque, patterns that she sells, so I went on her sight and sure enough, she had what I wanted. I made this one to give to our doctor as a little thank you for his kind and caring service to us.

Rusty, A wonderful job. When my mother-in-law lived with us, years ago..I remember one time when she said to my wife, "I think I will go to bed now" my wife replied, "Mom, you can't go to bed now, it is only 6:30". Mother in laws are great.I loved mine, but 6:30 isn't fair for her to think you should not be allowed to have a life after that time , too. Abbey You are even nicer than i am...(but everyone else usually is too) Have her give me a phone call and I will see what I can do to set your saw curfew up a few hours.. Dick heppnerguy.

I saw this somewhere, could have been here in The Village,, but someone bought mini M&M's candies that come in a tube with a re-closable lid. The blades fit well into each tube. hint You can take the label that comes with the blades and cellophane tape in on the tube. Presto.. the tubes are free....you get to eat the candy....you have an excuse to buy the candy....the labeling is easy...the tubes have a cap to protect the blade..(personally I have never had a blade rust for me )..and they are all organized. A very nice cut. I don't see that it could have been any better than this. I would have to give you another A on this one.. Wow another straight A achiever. must be on the Dean's list/ Dick heppnerguy

Well, said.. slow, easy, the blade makes the difference. Welcome aboard, Ken. It looks like you are not afraid to "go for it". gears are a great practice item too because they switch directions a lot. Are you making a wooden gear clock or just trying things out ? The key to enjoying this sight is to log on often. That way you find you will fit in quickly and get to know who we are, We all like that too, because we become familiar with you as well..No Ken, not that kind of familiar......anyway explore, respond and post..Glad you found us Dick heppnerguy

I was truly awe struck when i opened your photos. I am sure that I will never achieve your skill level, but it sure makes my next cutting that much more challenging. I love them all. Dick heppnerguy

Wow, Carl. I like this one a lot. There is a lot to look at here. Not just a close up of one item, that is for sure. Great job, wonderful pattern. Glad you shared it with us Dick heppnerguy

Travis, Thanks for your interest in my Facebook Page, I am really not interested in sharing it, just wanted to give others my experience and how I achieved some of my goals. My page isn't particularily anything special. I just found a way to make it work for me. I hope some of my ideas, might help others who wish to drum up a little extra money with their sights. It is called. "self promotion". One needs to have variety of items, so as to attract people of different tastes and develope an potential customers by getting the shares and the likes so that every time you post a new item it is seen by many. I find that I often sell something that does not interest me in the least. I have sold most of my things within minutes or hours after I post it. Once in awhile I get inquiries about something and then nothing comes from it. That is oK with me because I really do not want to be really pressured to sell anything. I really only wish to create enough interest to buy my wood, blades, patterns, and other supplies. I hope you understand. Dick heppnerguy

Kevin, I just ran some sandpaper quickly over the edge. I really didn't work much on it, still has frizzies too. Thanks anyway. Dick heppnerguy

I saw this free pattern download on Shiela Landry's page, posted by Steve Good. I have been eyeballing it for awhile because i that I might like to cut it. When I saw it, I immediately took advantage of this offer and I cut it yesterday. It was smaller than I thought it would be but i decided to cut it to size to see if I liked it. I used Alter wood for this one. It can also be altered to become a picture frame, if you wish. Dick heppnerguy

If you remember the person that made and cut the very precise piece. Her name was Gabrial or something close to that ? She wrote me and told my her husband was a model engineer and gave me a link to her husbands sight, if I was interested in looking at it. I did go to it and found his work fascinating and decided that I would post it for whomever might also like to take a look at it. It is an Italian sight. www.prous.it Dick heppenrguy

I made some sanders by gluing sand paper on little hobby sticks that look sort of like Popsicle sticks, only smaller. Steve good has a video on them. I also use 1/16 inch dowels or larger where needed and wrap a piece of sandpaper around it for fret sanding and that seems to work pretty well for me.. I like the idea of what you posted, Dan, Might try them anyway. cheep enough to give it a try. Dick heppnerguy

One comment I would like to make. I have intarsia and scrollng on my page and it the description I post the size and price. People are willing to pay the for the value of your work. Remember, you are most likely the only one that your followers know that has the ability to make these nice and unusual gifts. I recently did a promotion to get more people to see my page. I did not purchase a promotion but rather I figured word of mouth was a better way. I looked at the amount of likes that most of you are getting and so I am posting this to maybe help you to, who have Facebook pages to increase your sales. First of all, I suggest that you add albums and more items. I decided to give away any piece they would like to have, just for 'liking' my page. I intended to run this promotion for two months but I was so overwhelmed by the amount of likes that I received that I cut it to one month instead. I am offering my intarsia pieces because they are the highest priced items, as I thought that would attract the most people to me page. I try to add something to my page with at least one new item a week, of more it I have the time to do this. I was hoping in 2 months to increase my followers by maybe 50 new people but instead I received more than 300 this first day, That's right 300. I have been selling things at the rate of about $300 a month. I do not wish this to become something that causes me pressure to get things out and as a result lose the FUN of doing what I love doing, that being, working in my shop. Oh, I also told anyone who would 'share' my page, I would give them an extra 5 entries to my drawing. I know have over 600 people in my drawing. One thing more I did was boost my prices so that it included the shipping. My suggestion is this......get as many items on your page as possible. Add albums if you do not already have them and get as many people as possible to see your page. My way may not be the best but I have experienced more than I had ever hoped for, at no cost to me than a little bit of wood and a little time. I will continue to add 'specials of the month' that coordinate with holidays, like Mother's Day and Valentine's Day, etc Hope this helps someone who might be bewildered as to get things moving from their page, Dick heppnerguy

what kind of spray adhesive does everybody use
heppnerguy replied to Dennis Key's topic in General Scroll Sawing
I have always used the blue painter tape and a glue stick. Works really well for me because i don't like the sticky substance left by the spray, However, I did purchase a can of CRC spray glue sold by Harbor Freight, just to give it a try. I was familiar with CRC and knew it to be a good company of products. It worked really well for me. At first I sprayed both the tape and the pattern, let it set for a few seconds and it stayed on very well, even on the blue tape. Later I tried a light spray just on the pattern and placed it directly on the wood's surface, It kept the pattern in place and did not peel up when I cut small fret work. I also found that the pattern removed from my wood without having to use any mineral spirits. I did not detect any surface tackiness when I peeled my pattern off. Not sure if i was just lucky or if this product just works that well, so far, so good. It comes in a very large can and sells for a little over $10. Dick heppnerguy
