  1. Roly, That might be a fun idea to paint it. I usually am not real happy with the things I paint, but what the heck. This was a quick, easy and fun piece to cut so if I don't like it after i paint it, I would not have any trouble using it to start my shop stove when it gets cold. If I do paint it, perhaps I will post it again. Dick heppnerguy
  2. I do donate a lot of the things I make and also volunteer to make intarsia pieces for auctions, drawings and find raisers for many groups in our small town. I also make pieces for first communion kids, graduates and high school sports achievers. It is a really nice idea and people seem to enjoy getting home made and unique pieces. I never have more than a few pieces hanging around my shop. When someone comes to me for a donation, I just give them everything I have made and without a home. Dick heppnerguy
  3. I have thought about making a cribbage board before but the holes scared me away.. A great board. love the concept and originality of it. You did an admirable job Dick heppnerguy
  4. I like it too. I saw the pattern on Steve Good's page but I was not particularity drawn to it but when I saw yours, I knew it had to be on my 'to do' list Dick heppnerguy
  5. I went and grabbed one too. I have 4 great grandkids and everyone of them are going to receive one of them from me, soon Dick heppnerguy
  6. Everyone has to have one of these but since I am guessing you are not going to be willing to make one for everyone in The Village, I will just have to make my own Great job on it Dick heppnerguy
  7. very impressive job. You should be very proud of yourself. and with a spiral blade. you are a brave sole. Dick heppnerguy
  8. Nice job...Where did you find the stork frame ? I would love to buy that pattern. Dick heppnerguy
  9. I saw this pattern on Steve Goods sight and thought I would hammer one out. It is an easy pattern to cut. I takes about 45 minutes to complete. (at least for me), and I believe it would be a good lone for someone that has not been scrolling for very long and would like a little bit of a challenge. I had not put the finish on it yet but you get the idea. the tractor on it is quite small, so there is the challenge. The angle of my photo does not show it very well. Now what the heck do i do with it ?
  10. Thanks Hans, I hope I can remember this great tip. I have never heard that one before... Dick heppnerguy
  11. you can also buy yellow jacket traps and set up a couple of those. they are cheap and work great, that is, if you can not locate their nests. Hey you could go find their nests and start shooting it with rubber bands, then maybe they would decide it is not worth pestering you and find someone else.. On second thought, I think I would just do the spry at night and run like hell, suggestion that Roly made Dick heppnerguy
  12. Bill, I don't think your daughter will ever get sick of your wood projects. My daughter comes over to out house and takes things that I made for my wife, right off our walls and takes them home for herself. My wood gifts are the major requests I get from them. If i do not get a request, then we give them something else for a gift. when they do not receive a wooden item, they are disappointed. so there you go. They will be hanging them in their homes well after we are gone from this Earth, I believe. I love that they like them so much. Dick heppnerguy
  13. Aaron, I am happy to see that you found this sight. If you have not already noticed you will soon see that there are many people from all over this planet. Also there is a lot of talented people and a few of us that just love to spend time making sawdust. I hope that you have wondered around in The Village and discovered a lot of things exsist everywhere you look. there are pattern classes in the University forum, where our knowledgable leader has done a marverlous job walking many people through his classes. You will soon discover that some people seem to specialize in making certain things and are the specialist in what they do here. The important thing is that you come back often and get aquainted. You will soon discover that you have made many new friends and have, in the process, became a memeber of our big family too. Interested dto see how your clock comes along. Dick heppnerguy
  14. It looks like it will be providing a lot of light to me. My shop is 16 X16 and I have four 2 bulb flourescents and two 4 bulb flouescent light fictures and I don't feel a need for any more. seems to give me all the lightening I desire. You are doing a find job on your shop. I still am not very organized, but that just is my own nature, I guess. don't want to be like that, I just am. I am my own worst enemy Dick heppnerguy
  15. you found us and signed in, Rhonda, now all that is left for you to do is to sign in often. tour the forum and post some comments here and there, post some of your work and soon you will be getting to know everone here. have fun Dick heppnerguy
  16. good job.. I like the m both.. your daughter is not only a cute girl but you did so well with it that her personality pops right out at you Dick heppnerguy
  17. Marg, you nailed that one. How can he possibly NOT pack that bowl up and mail it to you just because you want it and praise his work ? I believe the bowl is probably already on it's way to Australia as I write this Dick heppnerguy
  18. A lot of different people can use business card holders.. Perfect. they should attract some sales for sure. Nice job on them. Dick heppnerguy
  19. I know someone who is a big Johnny Cash fan. I will have to make one for her. Marg you did such a great job and the finished products look so much better than the patterns, even great patternsolike this one, for me, anyway. You got me hooked on this one, Marg. Another beautiful job, by you. Dick heppnerguy
  20. I really like your puzzle Idea. I know that i will be using this technique on my next puzzle. Thank for the great idea. By the way, you did another wonderful job with it. The bowl is absolutely outstanding. Excuse my ignorance, but I am going to plead this one to "There are no stupid questions here", is the bowl turned for scrolled ? Dick heppnerguy
  21. Marg, you did a really nice job with the pattern. Nice pattern, Roly, Dick heppnerguy
  22. there are a couple who will be cherishing this effort both that of Danny and of Grampa. a Very nice piece Dick heppnerguy
  23. nicely done, Fay. I like the way the frame sets them off. I have made the cowboy hat several times and it is always liked by the receivers of them Dick heppenrguy
  24. great idea about making lots of wire runs, now. both for outlets and for lighting. better to have it all in place wating for a purchase of a new light then to have a new light and then trying to figure out howyou are going to run the wires. I would suggest replacing the incondencent lights with flourecent light. eliminates shadows and costs less to run. Looks like you are making some great progress and before we know it, we will be seeing a bunch of new porject coming from your shop. Way to go Dick heppnerguy
  25. We had some 80 degree weather here in Heppner last week but rain yesterday and maybe some today. I guess it means it is time for me to get out in my shop and have some fun. The outside things can wait one more day, i guess Dick heppnerguy
