  1. I love how rather simple things can attract sales where some of the really unique and detailed things can sit, show after show Dick heppnerguy
  2. I have to say, this guy doesn't spend much time putting out or putting away his display. Can get there 3 minutes before the doors open and he is ready to go by the time the first person enters the show. I wonder how many end up on the ground Dick heppnerguy
  3. I am not sure where I got this pattern from, It has been in my drawer for awhile. but I decided to make it as a 'welcome to this world', gift for my next great grandson to be. He will be born into our family this month. so I thought this might look cute hanging in his room Dick heppnerguy
  4. I have this problem occasionally with my DeWalt when it is really cold in my shop. Try letting it run for a while. This usually takes care of itself in about two minutes. I have never had it happen except when my shop is really cold.. Dick heppnerguy
  5. very impressive.. you truly work wonders with your saw Dick heppnerguy
  6. Original idea that appeals to me.. thanks for sharing Dick heppnerguy
  7. Well Dan, There is nothing more important than keeping the little woman happy. like they say, "If mammy ain't happy, ain't no one happy"
  8. perhaps the blade tension came loose.. that might possibly effect squareness of the cut or even a dull blade. that is my take on it.. probably wrong but ...... Dick heppnerguy
  9. Another fresh idea. This place is so full of people who have wonderful imaginations...Way to go Dan Dick heppnerguy
  10. Ok Ok. Now I have to respond. I too make things because I enjoy scrolling more than any other thing that I do for myself. However, I also use the items I make for many of our gifts. If it isn't Christmas or a birthday or an anniversary or a wedding, or a graduation or any other reason to make a gift, then it is a sale request from my Facebook wood working page that motivates me. I do make many things just to add something new to my facebook page, because it puts my page to all my 'likes' people. I love to give away my new items if I can keep it away from my wife of my grown kids. Just a few minutes ago one of my granddaughters came over to our house to ride one of her horses and she came into the shop to see what I was making and walked out with one of my decorative wine gift boxes. Often I will add a new item that I made to my page and I receive an order for one of two almost as soon as I post it. So I keep busy and enjoy my hobby but once in awhile I bang something out just for something new to make and before I start it, I already know that it most likely will not be something any one I know will be very interested in. I keep my extras on a pegboard in my shop and if anyone comes in my shop I tell them if they see anything they would like to have, they are welcome to take it. Sometimes someone will ask me if I have anything I would like to donate for a fund raiser and I just tell them to take all anything on my pegboard. I really am not interested in having boxes of finished things in storage because that serves no one any good, in my eyes and I already have too much stuff in our storage building as it is. So that's my story and I'm stickin to it Dick heppnerguy
  11. Y'ALL COME VISIT ME, I WILL BE HAPPY TO SHARE MY RICHES WITH ANYONE Dick heppnerguy
  12. you did a really nice job. I particularly like the extra detail on the base. Dick heppnerguy
  13. Nick, Glad to see you again. We all missed you. lets see some of the work that had been keeping you away. Dick heppnerguy
  14. Thank you all for your input. I really had a lot of the same feelings as I looked at this one. I am not too much for colorization done by me because I just am not very good at doing that. I agree with robbert100 on the flower, I too that it was truly the wrong flower for this piece. I thought the design on the flower was really well done by Steve Good, but not really appropriate for the hummingbird. I might try this again some time and try to improve on the colorization, as I call it. but to be honest with all of you, it just is something that I don't feel I have much skill in that phase of this art. I also think that a water color like the ones we used as kids for coloring books or a food color mixture might work better than the acrylic I used here. Thanks again for all your imput. I love the honesty, I asked for and the ideas that was already my thinking as I looked at it too. Dick heppnerguy
  15. this is a Steve Good pattern that I downloaded and printed some time back and I found it laying around the shop, so I decided, "What the heck" and cut it. My wife came into the shop and said that would go perfect with my hummingbird intarsia piece you made for me. So I ask her if I should try to colorize it because several people suggested that I might do that on the last item I put here a couple of days ago. So I took a crack at it. Not too awfully bad this time. Not one of my talents. What do you people think ? should I have just left it natural ? Looking for an honest answer on this. It could effect what I do in the future. 16. great job on your shop...the lights look very satisfactory.. The only thing I don't like about it is, it is way too organized..I have no talent in that category, myself. wish you were my neighbor so I could get my shop shaped up. Dick heppnerguy
  17. Welcome. I too thank you for your service to our country. I too know that if you enjoy scrolling like we all do, then you will eventually own the Dewalt or one similar to it. Better spending the money now then buying two or more saws before you finally 'go for it, anyway' If you have any questions about anything, ASK. You will get several answers of help. Having a problem with something ? Ask again. We have all probably experienced whatever you might be going through. Glad you found us.. my helpful hint; make several nice things just for the little lady, It won't take her long to be glad you purchased that saw, after all. Dick heppnerguy
  18. Hi Norm. I too would like to extend a warm welcome to you. I hope you decide to log on often so that everyone can get to know you better and you can get acquainted with all of us. We are a very friendly family of friends from all over the world. We like to share our work with others and share knowledge as needed. Hope to see you around a lot. Dick heppnerguy
  19. I wanted to share with everyone the score I made with 1/4 inch wood. they are approx 14 X12 inches. My grandson owns a cabinet shop and they grind these up and send them to the land fill. I asked him for some wood as I can get it through his discount prices and he told my I have a lot of wood that you might like to have instead and it will cost you nothing. so here is what he gave me. I have used about 10 of these already, before the photo. It is the wood I used in my new Sacajawea piece. Dick heppnerguy
  20. You know what ? The wood I used was given to me by my grandson. I have been going to take a photo of his gift of wood to me to show everyone how lucky I am to be his grandfather. It is a1/4 inch approx 14 X12 inches. I believe it might be an Alter wood veneer but I am not sure. Dick heppnerguy
  21. Thank you everyone for your nice comments. It was a really fun piece for me to do. Dick heppnerguy
  22. Keith, Thank you for the pattern, I most likely will not post my piece in The Village because I usually do not post something that someone else has done. I just don't want to appear to be competing with anyone here. but when I do make the piece, I will be sure and give thanks to Paul. Thank you for sharing the info with me. Dick heppnerguy
  23. Chet, Glad you found us. Sometimes things happen and it turns out to be a blessing in disguise, for you it just might lead to a love affair with you scroll saw. Please do ask any questions you may have, there are a lot of talented people in The Village and you WILL get an answer to anything you ask. Come back often and soon you will feel extremely comfortable here and find out that you had a lot of friends that 'just the other day, you didn't even know, existed' Welcome Aboard Dick heppnerguy
  24. Recently I requested a pattern to fulfill a request for this item. I had a lot of fun cutting it and designing and cutting a make shift frame. it was so much fun to do and it turned out to be one of my favorite pieces that I have ever made. I hope you enjoy it and my deepest gratitude's goes out to all the wonderful pattern makers that took their time to help me with this task. You guys are the greatest, hands down Dick heppnerguy
  25. Love this pattern. I think I will go see if it was posted for a download. I would love to make one for my dentist Dick heppnerguy
