  1. Kevin, Please understand that I am not trying to press anyone into doing anything they don't want to do or that they can't afford to do. I just thought that it would be nice if some of us here on The Village, who might like to try and help Karen in small way, might like this idea, I had. Please don't feel any obligation or guilt. It is just a friendly way to say 'I care" to Karen, if they like the idea. Dick heppnerguy
  2. We have all heard about the passing of Dirk Boelman this past week, I wrote a letter of condolences to his wife, Karen. I also ask her if she was going to continue to run their web page and she wrote me back and said that she would continue to run their page. We all know that it is going to be a difficult and expensive time for Karen with the funeral and being alone at this time. I decided that one small way I could help her was to purchase somethings off their web page. so i went on line and found four patterns that I purchased to cut. I would like to suggest that if everyone purchased just one item off their web page that it could end up to be helpful to Karen and show her our support for her and our appreciation for all that Dirk brought to the scroll saw community. their web page is www.theartfactory.com It just seemed like a good idea to me. 3. Ralph, I truly agree with you. That is the thing I like best about this site. Everyone is welcoming and helpful whenever they can be. Not only these two but everyone here, the pattern makers, the advice that is shared and the helpful hints and the tutorials made available for free to anyone interested in partaking in them Dick heppnerguy
  4. I have had the tape pull off a little of the layer of wood on my lessor expensive wood so I am glad to hear how you handle that problem.. I will keep that in mind
  5. VERY NICE, Those boxes are gorgeous. Are the base of the boxes turned on a lathe? The patterns on the lids are very attractive. Are they your patterns ? Are they available anywhere ? Thanks for sharing them. Dick heppnerguy
  6. Thank you so much for the Bowl information. It really helped to understand how the patterns are formed in the bowls. I saved the link. lets see if I get on the stick and try one of them. Watch and see if I post one. I had no idea about mail boxes getting full here.. duh Do I feel dumb. I will go see if I can empty it. Thanks for the heads up on that. sorry guys. thank you so much for taking your time to do this for me, spirithorse. Your comment also helped, Kevin..I appreciate that you too posted this remark, it helped me to understand that I was creating my own problem Dick heppnerguy
  7. We have a person here in Heppner that makes what he calls pocket crosses that he gives to people to carry around and he encourages them to give their pocket crosses to anyone they think might like to have it. so they are passed around from person to person. I will post a photo of one, if I remember to do that. I can't believe how much wood I through away because I got tired of having so much scrap wood around. Dick heppnerguy
  8. I have the same problem with my drill press not being able to reach some holes in my patterns. So far I have been able to get to my holes with a bit in my dremel but as I start cutting more intriquet pieces, I may find that I too will invest in a plunge router.. I may even have one that i do not use,in the tool crib somewhere. thanks for your post, I might just take a few minutes and go look for mine, if i have one Dick heppnerguy
  9. I don't like the sticky residue of any kind on my wood surfaces after I cut out my pieces so I always start with blue painters tape, It comes off pretty easy and i don't find any sticky residue left on my work when i peel off the tape. Over the tape, I put my pattern that I spray glue the back of and stick it right on the tape. The first time I tried to use spray glue, I found the pattern was lifting on some of my closer really small fretwork, so i tried a glue stick. I found that it worked better for me but I found that I needed to be sure I got the purple glue sticks and not the white. The glue sticks were considerably cheaper than the glue sticks too. About six months ago i discovered spray adhesive at Harbor freight by the CRC company. That company is an American manufacture and have been around for a long time and I knew their products to always be good ones and the cost was only about $10 for a very large can. It works really well for me. it keeps the pattern on the tape and when I am finished it comes off easily. I am sold on it, personally. I too had the sawdust collect under the clear packing tape when I used it, so I stopped using it for a long time. Recently, however, I did try it again and I no longer had this problem. I put the clear tape over the pattern that i had applied to the blue painters tape and I had no problem with the sawdust any longer. Make sure the clear tape is pressed down and sealed against the pattern very well. Not sure but maybe I was leaving some wrinkles in my clear tape that trapped the sawdust, before. I know I am a little windy but i hope this might help someone.. Dick heppnerguy
  10. I just finished this plaque yesterday. I have made a couple of the wedding crosses By Sue Mey's and I have done a couple of her anniversary plaques. I wanted something different, as this is such a small town I live in so I found this one on Sue's site and cut it. I like the way it looks so I thought I would share it with you people too. As you all can see, the wedding is still a ways off so I can not post it on my Facebook page for awhile. Hope you like it. Sorry the lighting was not very good for the photo so I does not look as good as it really is Dick heppnerguy
  11. My vote would be for #1 too. They are both nicely done. I love Sue Mey's patterns too. I will have to take a look at your facebook sight when i finish here. Good luck with that' Dick heppnerguy
  12. A brand new pattern, cut from a rarely used material and done in the expertise expected from you posts. You out did even yourself and that is hard to do for anyone Dick heppenrguy
  13. I nice tribute indeed, Robbert. I have a friend that lives in Amsterdam and I wrote her about how horrible I feel for all the Dutch people that were murdered on that flight by a missile. .My heart is very heavy for not only the family and friends of those lost but for all of the people in The Netherlands. This tragedy should not have happened and should never happen again. I am in wonderment as to what this world has come to where anyone would do such an awful thing. I too hope that you or anyone should ever have a reason to make a tribute to their people like you just did. It would be nice if every person in The Netherlands was able to receive on of your wonderful plaques. Dick heppnerguy
  14. I like it a lot. it is extremely interesting to look at, and you do not see this sort of work in a frame very often. Quite appealing Dick heppnerguy
  15. Hans. that is a very nice hand mirror pattern. you did a fabulous job, as I have only grown to know and expect from you. Very beautiful Dick heppnerguy
  16. shame on you, Keith...why don't you just take his teeth to your shop next time then you can chew those fuzzies out Dick heppneguy
  17. the more holes the better.. do you have a personal favorite of all your pieces ? Just curious Dick heppnerguy
  18. nice intarsia piece. You did a splendid job on it, the wood selection, cutting and finish work all look great. Congratulations on a piece that will make people's mouth drop open when they see it Dick heppnerguy
  19. Kevin, I have to admire the great variety of scrolling that you have done. Is there any type of scrolling that you have not tackled yet that is maybe nudging you to try ? Dick heppnerguy
  20. There you go again. Your patterns are great as is your work. Always love seeing when you post something new, because it will always be pleasurable to see Dick heppnerguy
  21. Hans, You know that I really like all of your project and that you inspired me to tackle those 'many holes' pieces. I am still working on my Eiffel Tower between other jobs. I am going to have to start the middle and top sections over because I screwed them up. but no matter. it will be a nice project when I am finished, I like your fan. I spotted one the other day and may do it in the future. Keep up the great work. Dick heppnerguy
  22. I am glad you made them. I showed those to my wife today and she wants me to make one too.. If I can get mine to look as good as yours, she will be happy with me. Dick heppnerguy
  23. What a fabulous piece. I am not sure how a pattern is formed from what appears to be a piece of flat stock, but I am going to go back and take a closer look at your post and see what I can figure out. I have not tried any scroll bowls yet. but you and Fay are making me think more and more about trying one. Dick heppnerguy
  24. I Google 'free paper cutting patterns' you might check that out. Actually, I think i used the long term that Travis posted above.. Dick heppnerguy
