  1. Another suggestion that i would make is: take some 220 grit sandpaper and roughen up the both ends of the set screws that conntact the blade, then it will not be so necessary to tighten the setscrews to such a degree that it stresses this part and causes the stripping of the screws. Just a thought.. Dick heppnerguy
  2. Carl, I believe that everyone including myself, only wish to thank you for all the good imput to the usage of the spiral blades. every blade is probably some persons choice of blade. I personally do not like the spiral blade but I made and cut a pattern the other day that needed thicker lines to show it off correctly when it was finished and I opted for the spiral, I did what I wanted it to do and I was happy with the end product. I will re-read your post and take a lesson from it. Glad you took the time to make your short tutorial, I know a lot will find it very helpful Dick heppenrguy
  3. Berry, You probably have already moved on with this and solved your problem, but just in case you have not, I have a suggestion that I think will work, I have some very this bambo that is extrememly strong. You could glue it on the back of your project wood and then your numbers with not break. The bambo is about the thickness of a piece of paper. I cut an ornament out of it that was extremely delcate, just to see how the bambo would hold up. I was able to cut it without any breakage. If you are interested in trying it, let me know. I can mail you some if you would like Dick heppnerguy

  5. I love the organizing idea here. I am a little like Kevin and just can't seem to get a good grasp on the organization thing. The harder I try, the worse I seem to do. I will definately keep this idea in mind and hopefully I will get around to adopting it too Dick heppnerguy
  6. I agree with the stack cut advice. It increases the resistance of the piece so you have a little more control. I do this a little different than the other guys.. I always use a duoble tooth blade #3 of smaller because they are not quite agressive and if my piece is very intriquet then I slow my saw way down to 2 to 3 on my saw and it makes it so I can cut way down of any possible error on making really sharp angles. this works for me..try a couple of ideas, the ones you were given is what works for them, the ones I gave you works for me. Everyone is different. take your time and you will be alright. Dick heppnerguy
  7. Smitty, Are you, by any chance using a device to help tighten the blade ? I cut one from Steve Good's sight and shortly there after I had the same problem, I stopped using it 2 years ago and I have not had a problem since. Hope this helps Dick heppnerguy
