  1. I personally do not like snakes of any kind, but i have to say you did a really nice job cutting this one and if I did like snakes, I would enjoy having this one...
  2. two thumbs up for this one. . you are a very ambitious scroller...I really like the projects that you choose to cut. Good job Dick heppnerguy
  3. I think the secret to cutting plastic is to use the correct blade, I am amazed at how many items can easily be cut on a scroll saw. Wood, plastic and metal. If you don't get a reply on the correct blade, post again and I will go and look it up, I know someone will most likely know, at the top of their head. Good luck with this, Kevin I think you will find it not only possible but also an easy fix. as far as thickness goes, I think if it were me, I would opt for 3/4 Inch. Outside is brutal on materials. 4. Don, you will enjoy your new saw. I have had one for several years and I really like mine. I do believe that it is not the very best saw onthe market but it is also a long way from the price of a lot of the others. I think it is the best one for the money and I would purchase my saw again if I was on the morket for one. I have had to replace one of the set screws because I made and used a pattern to help tighten the set screws and it put too much stress on the threads, so I suggest you do not do that. Other than that, the more i use my saw, the more I like it. It is a great saw. I too have a Ryobe VR sitting under my bench. It was ok for a starter saw but you are right , the tention rod is not worth the metal it is made from. If Ryobe woke up and changed the quality of that piece , they would have many scrollers that would not be looking for new machines. It is a little troublesome threading the blade but all in all not too bad to work with. The parts are cheep, but unfortunately in more ways than one. Let us know how when you get your saw and if you have any questions about it, just post, Oh by the way, if you ever do have anything go wrong with it, you will find that you can take it apart, yourself and reassemble it without worrying about thing. It is a very simple machine that is very user friendly. Dick heppnerguy

  15. I have never seen their sight, myself, but thanks for the heads up, Travis. I hope this never happens to this sight. I know hackers have forced others to give up and close their scroll saw sights within the past year....
  16. Now the sawdust flies. It is nice eto be comfortable in the workshop, even if it is really cold and icy outside. Best place to be dring the cold is in the woodshop. Glad for you and now we can expect more posts throughout the winter, of your wonderful work.
  17. Hey Lee, so glad to see you become active so quickly here. It is a great place. you are probably already starting to understand how easy and quickly one can become a part of this family...
  18. Keith, that is a very nice thing for you to do. It sounds like you will need to mail that quite aways from your home. I like donating things to non profit groups to. they always appreciate it when you go out of your way for them. You did a splendid job with it and they will most likely hang that with pride where ever it can be seen easily, Everyone with a craft talent should be on the constant lookout for groups they can contribute something to. I remember one time when I ws invited to join a sale where the firemen of the community were raising money for toys for tots. I decided to donate a nice piece of intarsia so they could raffle it off and make a few extra bucks. They told me no one had ever done that before and were very grateful to accept my offer. The really good thing is that is was contagious and several other craftsan stepped up and donated a piece of their work for the raffle, also. The best part was that it was contagious.

Explore our sight completely. look at the free patterns. greet new members, post your porjects, ask or answer a question or two, go to the university and take a pattern class or two, See what others are saying and jump right into a conversation. 20. Jon, If i understand your question correctly there are several ways to save our work in Inkscape. you can go to the 'file' tab on the upper right side of the Inkscape page and click on it and scroll down to the 'save' or the 'save as' tab adn click on it. Be sure to look where it is being sved to. Mine goes to 'my pictures' on my computer. you can also select 'export bitmap' then put in the ane you desire it to have and it will save as a .ping file which can be used with other programs as well as Inkscape. I think I got this straight, If not I am sure you will get a better answer to your question just come back often and check out your post to see. If this still leaves you with a problem, then just post that you still can't get the results you are looking for and you will get an answer.. Also in the forum tab at the top of The Scroll Saw Village home page, you will can scroll down the sub labels and find the University and you will find several great tutorials on Inkscape that is worth your time to few whenever you are stymied y something to do with Inkscape. Go take a look Dick heppnerguy
  21. Can't beat a new child portrait and their parent. This will become a family heirloom for sure
  22. Great advice given here. I am finding myself pretty busy and it is from word of mouth and Facebook Likes. I am leaving it rather dorment for awhile because I am already buried for Christmas. After that, I will start to push my facebook page and get a lot more on it. You need to promote to sell. I founde Etsy to just sort of loose my things amoung the many vendors there so i went to Facebook and that really worked for me. Good Luck and don't give up
  23. This turned out to be an really fun and interesting thread to read. All the chatter and ideas are like reading a book. I am waiting to see how the final results end up on htis topic
