  1. Thanks Bob. I just knew you would stick up for me. Dick heppnerguy
  2. Paul, that is NOT a rabbit I cut. It seem very obvious to me that it is indeed a duck. How can you not see that? I never for a moment thought it so bad that one could not understand what the subject of the cut was. You surprise me some time..... Dick heppnerguy
  3. Marg, It was OK that my wife did not like the project. I go to her for her opinion because she often has the answer about a project question I might ask her. This time, I have to admit, her answer did surprise me. I know that I do not always like the subject that someone cuts as that pattern was of little to no likes for me. No two people are the same for sure Dick heppnerguy
  4. It was all in fun and I was excited to see what comments I got. Thanks for replying. I received a few good suggestions about the frame and i do plan on making one in the next day or two Dick heppnerguy
  5. I started to cut this pattern and because I was planning on it for a gift, decided to stack cut a couple of them so I could have one for my shop wall. Well, I made the decided to cut it with 1/8 inch Baltic Burch and use a spiral to cut the eye first with it and then go to my #1 Pegas blade. There was a slight Bow in the wood so I placed both bulges facing each other so as to try and avoid the chance of breakage. Well that was a mistake as just as i finished the eye, it broke out. I was thinking that I would just go back into the shop, increase the pattern size a little but only cut the head out instead of the entire animal as then I could use the remainder of the wood I was going to use instead starting completely over again. I told my wife what I was planning on doing and showed the progress to the cut as I went along. She thought I was doing an OK job, at that point. When I finally finished it and took it into the house and showed it to her, she replied, " I don't like it." "What?" was my reply and it was because I had not included the entire pattern in the cutting. How could she have not noticed that all the other times I showed her my progress on it? Now, I can't give it as a gift and it has become another of my closet art pieces, you know, the ones you are too embarrassed to show others. Well I know here in the village, people are always complimentary at other's work, even when it is inferior to what they might be making, so because my wife caused it to become closet art, I will be looking for at least one person here to say something a little nice about it and make all my cutting time, not so much of a complete waste of my time. It is OK to lie this one time. Dick heppnerguy
  6. Paul, as I saw this one, and before I read your notation, I just knew who this one saw cut for. If I ever saw a second rate project from you, I would think you must have had another stroke or made it while you were driving to Portland. Just kidding...It is a really well make project, as all of your work always is. The nice thing for me is I get to personally see your projects almost every summer. Take care my friend, I will call you again before too much longer. Dick heppnerguy
  7. there is more of the wild animals I love so much. Great job. So glad you are on The Village and you post so much of your work for the rest of us to enjoy also Dick heppnerguy
  8. I have a grand daughter who has a cattle and horse ranch in Montana and this is one pattern I have chosen to make for here, as she has a three year old daughter that already has two horses of her own and I plan on putting some long hair on this little cowboy and making a girl instead. I hope I can see here reaction when my grand daughter sees that one and shows it to her daughter. So cute. Dick heppnerguy
  9. I really like this little guy. I cut it the first time I saw it and I have it hanging in my shop and I get a lot of really nice compliments on it, as I am more than sure you will be also. Dick heppnerguy
  10. Love this one also. You are one busy person. Thanks for posting your work Dick heppnerguy
  11. I have to say this, you have made some fabulous patterns and so far I have not seen a single one I would not be more than happy to cut. Nice to see you cutting your own patterns too. It is no wonder you are such a great scroller, as you have many talents Dick heppnerguy
  12. I have this pattern too and I have not cut it yet, but like Scrappile, it sure hits home. Easy to see why you are cutting Russ Beard patterns as they are always done well and have a little challenge connected with each pattern. Yours are all wonderfully done Dick heppnerguy
  13. Very nice project. I also like this one. Those wild cat family once always makes me know exactly why, even though I would not want to meet one in their wile territory, I love to look at them. Beautiful. Dick heppnerguy
  14. Like I have stated in several replies to your work, I first only saw the brown owl and imagined that I probably would not care very much for a black and white version. However, I was really surprised when I scrolled down and saw the black and white one. It really caught my attention and I had to annualize my own reaction to it. I was not sure if I liked it or not, but the more I stared at it, the more I did like it and I think my vote, surprisingly would have to go for #2. It is almost haunting to me. Dick heppnerguy
  15. I just thought I would tell you my little story. I lived in Southern Oregon for 15 years and made it a point to contact 'Scrappile' and made arrangments with him to meet for lunch, just so we could meet each other and swap some stories. Six years ago I moved from Eastern Oregon to Southern Arizona. I have two daughters still living in the town we moved from so we do get up there a couple times of the year. Whenever I get an opportunity to go to Tri Cities, I make a point to go visit Paul. We have become really good friends and I cherish whatever time I can have with him. Take the time to contact Paul and set up a visit. I guarantee you it will be worth it. You will love looking at some of his fabulous scrolling as well. He is fantastic. Dick heppnerguy
  16. I would like to suggest you get some #3 blades as you will find that they are easier to cut patterns with and you will have less 'fuzzies' to sand when you are through. Have fun and don't just to quickly into patterns that look impossible for you to cut as doing the simple ones until you don't even have to guess where you are on the lines you are cutting and then move to something a little more challenging. That way you will not be so discouraged. Dick heppnerguy
  17. I also send you a warm welcome from Southern Arizona. I love it when someone new decides to join our family. If you log on often you will learn that you are also now among friends you never knew you had. Explore all around the Village as there are a lot of things to find waiting for you to partake in and everything is free here. Dick heppnerguy
  18. Baskets are always fun and easy to cut while the results is somewhat mind boggling. They are quite attractive to look at and people who see them seem to always be amazed wit wonderment. A project to be proud to display and it is useful at the same time. Glad to see you enjoying making them. Yours look really nicely done too. Dick heppnerguy
  19. Shortly after I retired and was then living it Oregon, my wife and I drove to Alabama and stopped at many of the State and Federal parks we could find to visit on the way. I was most surprised by the State of Alabama, as I had the notion that Alabama was the poorest state in the Union. I found it to be one of the nicest states I have been in. The visitor centers were top notch and more inviting than we saw anywhere else. We visited a NASA site there also. I am glad you found a place you really enjoy living. You must live in a rather small town as they always are much more friendly then are the big cities. When we moved to Southern Arizona we found a smaller city midway between Phoenix and Tucson, named Casa Grande, that fit our desires. I have grown to really enjoy living here and the people in our community are quite friendly and helpful to one another. Thank you for replying to my question about where you are living. I enjoyed your reply a lot. Dick heppnerguy
  20. I really like the sea horse too. There are 3 additional pattern of other sea shells but these two I liked the best. If my daughter wants more sea plaques I will be happy to cut her the other shells should she ask. Thanks for taking your time to comment on my work. Dick heppnerguy
  21. Not very challenging but it was a great way to find a reason for cutting them. Thanks for the encouragement. Dick
  22. Thank you.. They were easy and fun to cut. Dick heppnerguy
  23. Thank you. It got me shop time and I enjoyed the shop time I received from it too Dick heppnerguy
  24. Thank you for your comments. I kind of liked the pattern right away and needed a reason to give them a go. I hope they fit her desires also. If not....I got some fun shop time out of them. Dick heppnerguy
  25. Thanks. it is an easy pattern but still has a couple of places where I had to be a little careful as I cut it. I like the little challenges in all the pieces that I cut. It makes it more interesting that way Dick heppnerguy
