  1. Very creative. Dick heppnerguy
  2. I love all your projects and I am always anxious to open them and take a look at what you made this time as I know it will always be a great job. You have never disappointed me yet. Dick heppnerguy
  3. Wow Ron. That is an outstanding and unique project. A lot of creativeness went into that one. Love it Dick heppnerguy
  4. Marg, I always regretted the time you came to America it was impossible to meet you and your husband. I think about that very often when I see your posts. Nice project, It sure is a good likeness of Hitchcock. He was a very different and interesting man. I like your name piece too. I have found that people always seem to like the personal touch of having their name in wood Dick heppnerguy
  5. Nice to see your projects. The middle one does not appeal to me, probably partly because of my old age but as far as scrolling goes, they are all very nicely done. Thanks for posting them for all of us to see Dick heppnerguy
  6. I really like Willy and you made a nice cut. It sounds like this pattern might be in the pattern catalog here in The Village. I will have to go look for it as I would like to cut it also. thanks for posting it Dick heppnerguy
  7. nice projects again. I really like the Native American as well as both bowls. I still have not made a bowl yet. You lucky guy with the new Pegas saw. It would be my choice if I was ever after a new saw but do to my age I do not believe I will ever be on the lookout for a new saw. Keep up the great work and thanks for posting them so all of us can enjoy watching what you are doing Dick heppnerguy
  8. Always enjoy your videos and seeing what you are up to next. Your contributions are always helpful to many people starting out with scrolling, I bet. Keep up your good work. Dick heppnerguy
  9. It was a box that got me interested in scrolling as I always thought scrolling was an outline of a cat or a simple heart cutout and it just did not appeal to me. This is a very nice little box and you deserve to be happy with this project. Keep up the good work Dick heppnerguy
  10. Barb, I really like this puzzle project. A fun idea. you sure got some fun comments on them too. I also like how you cut the two colors as it really adds a lot to the end results. Nice project Dick heppnerguy
  11. Thank you so much for the nice comments. I hope the receiver enjoys it as much as I did making it for them. Dick heppnerguy
  12. Well it has not been the usual winter weather here but rather a lot of wind and rain and cold instead. I feel really sorry for people who may have made this their first winter snow bird trip because if they think this is what it is all about, then why spend the time and money on the long trip. Actually I have talked with people who have lived here a long time and they all say they have never seen it this wet or cold before. I joke with them and say," If this cold and wet keeps up, I am going to move to Southern Arizona." I am not sure if I will drive back to Heppner any longer. If and when I do go, I will fly instead and stay for only about a couple of weeks. The down side it I am not sure that I will be able to go visit Paul if I do that. I really enjoy our visits and our friendship and really hope that never is the case. Paul talks about you often and really enjoys your visits too. Take care and keep in mind, spring is right around the corner Dick heppnerguy
  13. That is a really nice reply to my pattern attempt from you. I will try to continually make an effort to understand about patterns. There are so many steps from photos to scroll patterns and it is not easy for me to remember them all. With practice, I know it will eventually come automatic. I did another one and I am not even close to what I am after. I may or may not post that one for critique, not sure yet as I am a little embarrassed but my results. As far as my mediocre scrolling goes, I am confident that I can do about any pattern cut I choose to take on but the results has somethings to improve on, but in the past few months I have finally learned to slow down and my success rate is much better now than it ever was but being in my 80's now isn't an asset for sure. I look at some of the other scrollers work and I am still amazed by what they can do. The good part is the people that buy from me an a regular basis are not able to compare my work with those that are so much better than I so, what they do not know helps me. Dick heppenrguy
  14. Welcome from Southern Arizona. There are some good 'How to' videos out there for beginners and long time cutters alike. You can find some tutorials here and many on Youtube.com also. I would suggest you start with some easy patterns so as to not get discouraged and progress as you feel comfortable. The correct blades are one of the most important knowledge you can have in scrolling. If you are not sure of which blades to use or any other questions, just ask and you will certainly find your answers quickly here. Everyone is so helpful and anxious to help those that ask. Glad to have you on board. I hope you log on often Dick heppnerguy
  15. Welcome aboard once more. I hope to see you continue in your venture on your saw. There have been a lot or patterns added here lately so go check out what might be your new challenge. This is such a great place to hang out when you have the time. It feels like family here. Dick heppnerguy
  16. Well, thank you Roly. This one tested my comfort zone a lot. I had my doubts as to whether I could complete this one or not. Dick heppnerguy
  17. Wow Dave....coming from one of the best intarsia people I know, t feels like a pat on the back. I needed that too as it was a real effort that was way out of my comfort zone. Dick heppnergu
  18. thanks for the nice comment. By the way, how are things going for you. I have not heard from you for awhile. Dick heppnerguy
  19. Thank you for the nice comment. I was hoping it would be satisfying to my neighbor who asked for it. He apparently likes it as he has it hanging over his fireplace in his front room. or maybe his is waiting for a really cold day and plans on using it to start the next fire. Dick heppnerguy
  20. Good advice. I am just happy that it is finished and I can go onto some other projects before I get too old to remember how to turn on my saw. Dick heppnerguy
  21. things are getting a little more difficult as I get older. I am hoping I will be able to scroll until I get close to my end time, which can't be too far off. I only wish I would have started my scrolling a little earlier in life instead of waiting until I retired in 2002. I may have been able to do a little better then. Thanks for the encouragement as it is much appreciated Dick heppnerguy
  22. I am also in the process today of making two more for my grandson's wife and her family as her brother died unexpectedly. Hope to get them in the mail later today. Dick heppnerguy
  23. Me too. I just hope by continuing to try different photos eventually I will understand it enough to eventually produce a wood portrait pattern that I like without having to spend too much time making the photos into a good pattern. Dick heppnerguy
  24. That is the very same problem that I am having. I hope to try new portraits often so that I know what steps come when. I am hoping that will make all the efforts will become automatic, making the process go much faster and I am also very hopeful that the efforts become much better with the practice, like most things do
  25. thank you. I truly appreciate you taking time to make this comment to me. Dick heppnerguy
