  1. I am still to take time with my air brush but it is still very much on my agenda. I simply placed the backer board on some paper and spray the main color on first, not caring that the very outside section is covered very well, (only lightly), then while it is still wet I take a can of spray black and spray it so that the center of the spray is actually spraying on the paper and the rest is going on the backer board. I place the BB so the the part I am spraying is farthest away from me and the turn the BB so the next side is farthest away from me and continue with this method until I have done all four sides. This results in a sort of blended pattern for the paint, as the most dense spray is hitting the most outside of the BB and the ' over spray' is in the center part. If I get the black closer to center of the project I just respray the center color so that it is the center of focus again. Give it a try. I certainly like the outcome of this method. Dick heppnerguy
  2. We have been quite busy since before Christmas and I finally found some time to get back into my Scroll Saw Village family. Yesterday my wife asked me to make something new to add to her Valentines decorations so I found this Sue Mey pattern and asked her if she like it and I got a resounding "YES, VERY MUCH". I immediately went to the shop and cut this one for her. I have been away from here for about 2 months and I am so happy to be back here with all of you. I will go back and try to post some of the items I have not yet posted just so you know I have been doing some items in my shop as well. Dick heppnerguy
  3. I really like your project and the use of the three different woods. It really makes this one special and more interesting. Great idea Dick heppnerguy
  4. Marg, I don't mean to butt in on your conversation but I often think about Australia when I think about time differences and I believe you are 19 or 20 hours ahead of us in Arizona. Blows me away to think about that. It is particularly interesting to think about on New years as we are in different time and years for most of our New Years Eve. Dick heppnerguy
  5. Paul, I enjoyed our phone conversation the other day. Good to touch basis again as it has been too long between. I love all you work and your little gnome is very cute. Dick heppnerguy
  6. Once more, a project to be very proud of. Terrific work Dick heppnerguy
  7. very nice and original ideas. I wish i have your creative mind. I am lucky to remember my own name, sometimes Dick heppnerguy
  8. That is a truly amazing and very interesting project. I love the way you framed it and it would be something that I would want to be hanging in my front room too. Dick heppnerguy
  9. I love the bowls. All look not only interesting but also very well done. I have yet to make a solid bowl like these but they are on my to do list, which I better not be putting off too much longer as I am getting up there in age, as they say Dick heppnerguy
  10. I will appreciate anything you say. Please never feel you are insulting me with a remark as I will be happy to get any suggestions and take them as such. Dick heppnerguy
  11. I love these little gnomes. They have become very popular in the past year and there are many versions of the patterns to cut now. They have been incorporated in almost all the holidays too. Yours is really cute and I am yet to cut one myself. You are inspiring me to give them a try. What better time then now as Valentines day approaches. Dick heppnerguy
  12. I also really like this basket design. I made one when Fox first posted it. The baskets are fun and easy to cut and add some nice touches to the home decorations as well. Yours looks great. Keep up the good work Dick heppnerguy
  13. love your wood portraits. I am now trying to learn how to make them. It is a struggle for me but I am determined to figure this out. I will be posting my efforts, mainly to hope and get comments on ways to improve my efforts and hence become used to the changes necessary to help my efforts. I hope you might be helpful in my endeavor. I will be using GIMP and believe that is not the program you are using but the hints on what I may do to improve can still be helpful to me. Keep up your great portraits, I love seeing them. Dick heppnerguy

    User Interface Tour

thank you Travis. I was able to find the program and get it on my computer. I appreciate your help. I am anxious to try and learn this so that is becomes as a routine thing to make the portrait patterns, at least this is the goal I have right now.

    User Interface Tour

Travis, I am now going to go through this lessons on portrait patterns and learn this. The trouble I am having here is the newer GIMP program that I really dislike and find it more difficult to understand and maneuver in. What is the GIMP program you are using in this instructions and is it possible to download this version instead of the one they are offering now? If so what is the version you are using in your tutorial and how can I download it? Dick heppnerguy
  16. I love that they purchase for family first. That shows a lot of care and consideration and love for others Dick heppnerguy
  17. It is probably a good thing you wrote in French, as I probably do not want to see what you are really saying. Dick heppnerguy
  18. great job. He will certainly be pleased to have this item. You got this one well made and designed. I love how it looks. Dick heppnerguy
  19. I still have not tried a lighted project. I really like them. I guess I need to push the envelope a little and give them a try before too much time goes by. Yours looks great.. thanks for posting it Dick heppnerguy
  20. It took a few blades alright but not as many as I was expecting. I try not to push the life of the blades when doing fret pieces but I do watch and try to anticipate when it is time to get another blade out of the blade organizer. Since I have finally realized about not trying to see how quickly I can cut something, that in itself as helped a lot.. Dick heppnerguy
  21. I was surprised at how long it too to cut. Thanks to you, I finally got enough sense to slow way down with my cutting and I no longer get so exasperated when I am cutting my fret work.. Dick heppnerguy
  22. Live gets more complicated I get older. Even the easy things get confusing a lot of the time. Dick heppnerguy
  23. thanks for the heads up. I was looking at my photos to post this one with the others and I picked the pattern I had there instead of the actual one I cut. I do a lot of dumb things like that now days, if seems, but I guess I don't need to explain that to you as you already know me too well for me to de-neigh that to you. Dick
  24. I hope you are right. They did actually come out way better than the photos did. Dick heppnerguy
  25. I have noticed with myself, there are some patterns I run across and would never be interested in cutting them but then someone else cuts them and they stand out so nicely that it makes me wonder why I could not even be interested in them. I am not an avid car fancier myself but there are some cars that I really like and the T Birds were one of those cars. Dick heppnerguy
