Well, you are quick. I saw that pattern and thought it would be fun to so, someday. You really jumped on it and did a great job.
  2. Nice!
  3. Congratulations! I do not think you will not be at all disappointed with the Seyco. It is like an Excalibur only with a bigger table. Very smooth and quiet. If you plan on doing a bench top mount, notify them and let them know. They will need to ensure your package contains the updated short legs for that. I highly recommend watching Steve Goods video on Youtube before you start assembly of the saw and stand. Assembly of this saw is a little more involved than most scroll saws. I referred to the video several time during assembly. It is not overly difficult, but can be a little frustrating if you do not pay close attention to the required processes.
  4. I use the 3m 77, an occasionally I have lift up. I started using a small squeegee to smooth the pattern starting in the center and working to the outsides. My theory is it removes any air under the pattern, and the air is where it would lift up when sawing. Well I think it is a pretty good theory, sounds good anyway. Another thing I do is try to remember to clean of the wood real well before applying the pattern, any dust may cause the pattern to not stick as well as it should.
  5. Would not waste good liquor on scroll saw blades....!
  6. Very similar to the know I have on my Hegner. I really like it, may think about one of these for my Seyco. I do not sand the ends of my blades, but I do wipe the ends with Alcohol before putting them on my saw. It is surprising to me how dirty and oily some are. You wouldn't notice unless you clean them.
  7. Nah Frank, you wouldn't like it or be any good at it.......
  8. Wow, that is some great stuff. Very well done.
  9. Congrats, Iggy. Keep that up the rest of the summer and you can get two Hawks, one for backup, really don't think you will need a back up, but always nice to have two saws.
  10. Beautiful piece of art. She will pass that on to her daughter someday..
  11. Congratulations. I know you will love it and wonder why you didn't do it sooner.
  12. He flew the Tomcat to start and then transitioned to the Super Hornet when the started decommissioning the Tomcat. He now flies the MD-11 for FedEx.
  13. Real neat.
  14. That is a very beautiful plaque and thanks for explaining how you did that beautiful finish. Were you a pilot? My son was for 22 years.
  15. Absolutely. You could glue the piece back on if you still have it and want to, or not,, just don't display them side bu side if you leave it as is, no one will notice, unless you point it out.
  16. Iggy, I personally believe the bearing on the Seyco are better bearing than the DeWalt has. Fact (going by the Ex I had), I believe they are sealed bearings. I do not know anything about the Jet. That being said, there are definitely more on that could go wrong with one, but I never had any problem with my Ex, except making a minor adjustment once or twice. But, yes, more work to fix if something did go wrong, and I am sure a Seyco will never last as long as a Hawk or Hegner. Hegner and Hawk saws are for production work, Seyco and below are for the hobbyist. My opinion. If some one wants to figure it out, is the cost of a Hawk or a Herner really more than a DeWalt, over a long period of time, considering the life span of the saws. They only have to out live 3 or 4 DeWalts.... I know they will do that.
  17. I think it is also what gives the ability to be a top feeder... You already have permission to purchase a saw as high priced as the Hegner. If you decide a Hawk, go for the best new one they have.. all the bells and whistles and cost you a little less than a Hegner. You will be a hero to your wife and have a great, brand new saw!!
  18. That is very well done.
  19. Some very well done projects. I did that eagle many years ago, put it up so it was perched in a Blue Spruce in my front yard. Looked pretty cool.
  20. I'm betting Hawk, or the small Hegner.
  21. Rolf said 2005 or newer. He knows Hawks. I think prior to that, before the now owner bought it, you could not top feed, and I don't think you could adjust the front/back motion of the blade. I could be wrong, you could email Rolf and ask. If correct, how important are those features to you? Certainly would not hurt to look, and see how you like it.
  22. CONGRATULATIONS! All I can say is that is pretty darn cool! Great job.
  23. I've subscribe to SSW&C magazine and look forward to each issue. I am never interested in every project, but they have to try to have something for a large variety of people so I expect that, but there has always been several things in each issue that appeal to me. Plus, even though I may not try everything, it is good to see the possibilities.
  24. The fact that the Hegner is not as an aggressive cut only means that you may want to change to a more aggressive blade.
  25. I love that pattern and it looks great on that slab. Nice work.
