You certainly did a great job on that picture.
  2. Thanks guy, I really appreciate the info. I just spent about 20 minutes looking around Jerry's. Sooo much to learn.
  3. Glad to have you join us. Looking forward to see some of your pieces.
  4. Love those. I have got to get at it and try some.
  5. Very beautiful!
  6. Howdy pardoner. Glad you have hitched your horse at our rail... really, glad to have you.
  7. Jim, check local lumber yards. Lots of them carry it. I also found it at a local place that sells unfinished furniture place. Around here is usually sells for $30-$35 a sheet.
  8. Thank you. I keep learning even at my age.
  9. Rusty, I do not have a clue what that piece of equipment does that you have pictured. Can you explain?
  10. That is cool! The birds will love it.
  11. Proud, you deserve to be. Very well done.
  12. You really did a very nice job on that cutting. I have the pattern on file. Hope I do as well.
  13. Great job!
  14. Would have taken me a week to build, at least!! Nice work!
  15. Most the pictures I have cut are stacked in a box sitting on a deck. I have never gotten to the framing part of the process. Well I have made a few frames, nothing fancy, but it is not something I enjoy. The reason, I just don't know much about it. I'd like to get busy in this area. I have been looking at mat cutters because I'd like to put matting around some of the pieces. For my little operation I can't afford to buy a professional cutter, I'm curious if one of the little cutter does a decent job and what other tools does on need for this?
  16. Dick, a good one you are disappointed in, just like my last one... and I like the tractor. You did a great job. Makes me want to start a collection of antique tractors. I have got to learn now to make patterns.
  17. Ha, thanks so much for the comments, but, you people always surprise me. I thought I would read. "ya, you are right, the picture sucks, but the feathers are nice". Been sitting here thinking, what to do with the feathers. I like them. I am thinking of how I could make some beads, either on the lathe or scroll saw, brad some sinew, mix the beads and feathers and make my Grandson a Native American necklace. I also have the Kokopelli deer antler thing I could add to it. Is that a dumb idea? He probably would not wear it but it could hang in his bedroom. He is going to be 5 soon.
  18. I have had this pattern for some time, and have been really wanting to do it. I have been waiting to get some more bark sided basswood to use for it but I got impatient and grabbed a piece of cherry I had and use it. Not happy with how it turned out. The wood is just too dark for this pattern. So I thought I could add some color with feathers, but I don't think the feathers go with the dark wood either. I was going to attach the feathers with some artificial sinew I have left over from my kayak building days. I like the feathers, will save them for something else. So I will re-cut this pattern when I have my basswood. Oh, this is a Charles Dearing pattern, BTW he still has a sale of his patterns going on.
  19. My first saw was a Craftsman that you had to insert a "U" shaped thingy in the holder, and the arm to hold the blade clamp in place while you put the blade in. Had to use an allen wrench to loosen and tighten the clamp. It was a nightmare. I finally got tired of getting down on my knees to put the blade into the bottom clamp. So, I built a table top to mount the saw on that was hinged. I would lift the table top up so the saw was on it's side while I changed the blades. Some engineer really put his heart and sole into designing the saw clamps!! I worked with it for years when I only used the saw occasionally, but when I really started getting interested in fret work, I had to do an upgrade. That little Craftsman saw still sits in my daughter's garage on it's little hinged table. Hasn't been used in years.
  20. Very nice! Everyone must have spring fever all these bird houses. I feel it also.
  21. Nice work on that piece.
  22. Very nice, for sure.
  23. Matt, so glad it worked out for you. I think you will really love your saw.
