    Mighty pretty Dick. I really like the backing that way. Great cutting. She is going to love it. I am working on another one using my last piece of Basswood. I have been using the 2/0 PS straight blade for most of it. Last evening I put in my 3/0 spiral to do some thin lines, and oh my, it was like renewing an acquaintance with an old friend! I use the spiral the rest of the evening. It just make more since to me than swing that piece of wood all over.

    I mount a round over bit in my router table and run the wood against the bearing on the bit. Watch to keep fingers away from the bit.

    Much safer with a table, in my opinion. Does not have to be an expensive fancy table and for what your are talking about you don't need a huge router.     I had a 60"s Craftsman and all I can say if it was the only saw I could have, or no saw at all, I would have no saw at all. Not saying all Craftsman saws of that era were bad, but the one I had was. They had several models. Mine required special tools to change the blade and the bottom clamp I had to get down on my knee to attach the blade. You can do that when young, but at retirement age..... I finally built a platform to mount it on that was hinged, and when I changed blades, I could lift the platform and lay the saw on it's side to change the blade. Please check out the one you are going to look at closely. Let the seller demo a blade change. His may be totally different than mine was.

    I printed it a week or so ago. Now I have helicopters buzzing over my house. Couple big black SUVs with real dark tinted windows sitting out side. I don't know what's going on......

    Some of the most common questions are here are like where to by blades, where to get patterns and where to get wood. Along with you list of tips on a hand out mention above you could add a list of suppliers of they items and put in a plug for this great forum also. Sounds like you pretty well have it thought out. I think it will take a good two hours when they start asking questions, and doing the cutting. Let us know how it goes.
