  1. If you search the forum for "Ocooch hardwoods" you will find lots of entries and looks like it is thought of pretty highly.
  2. That is a very nice cutting job!
  3. I think you made a great choice on backer. Looks very nice. Looks like you have your new Excalibur well under control.
  4. My advice would be get one with a minimum of a 9" disk but larger if you can. I have the Ridgid and it works well for me but there is no disk sander with it. I also have a HF 12" disk sander that is a noisy beast, but it does it's job. I use it quite a bit.
  5. That is beautiful, Jim! Did you frame it yourself with the matting and all? Something I would like to learn to do.
  6. Welcome to the forum.
  7. Welcome to the forum. I think you will enjoy all your new neighbors.
  8. Dave, Welcome to the Village. We are glad to have you and look forward to getting to know you better.
  9. These are the types of pen I made using antler. Made great gifts. I use real bullets and cartridges.
  10. Very nice, both of them. My Father-In-Law was a lineman. If he was still alive I would want to make the first one for him.
  11. Another great job, Dick.
  12. Ha, I remember the smell well from pen making, but it never really bothered me. I would not wear it as a body talc, to improve my B.O. but it is bearable to me. Different snorts for different dorks. I guess.
  13. I am a bottom feeder (a Carp). It is not the connecting the blade to the to bottom clamp that is the problem for me it if feeding a 3/0 Spiral blade down through #78 hole going against the direction of the teeth, and finding the hole in the table top as you do it, that gives me great difficulty. How ever if you do the type of scrolling that does not require that, top feeding may be easier. I think like everything about scrolling, it is personal preference.
  14. Most of mine I bathe in a mixture of 50% Mineral Spirits and 50% BLO. Straight BLO or tongue oil takes a long time to try. The MS thins it out and it sinks deeper into the wood and dries quicker. Still takes a couple days to dry. After dry I usually spray several coats of Deft simi-gloss.
  15. Looks very "rich". Did you stain the Alder or is that it's natural color? Very nice looking.
  16. I use to make a lot of pens using deer and elk antler. Have several antler bases laying around and decided this morning to take a slice from one and play at scrolling on it. I tried a Kokopelli, just because I like the little guy. I have no clue what this is good for but it was fun. Stinks....
  17. Great job!
  18. Very well done! Mighty cute little gals.
  19. Love the Basset hounds. Great portrait.
  20. Welcome, glad you joined us. Anxious to see you work.
  21. She will love it! Great job!
  22. Thanks for the inputs. I will leave this copy, and make a frame for the other, when I get my table saw fixed.
  23. Great job, Dick. She will be very pleased.
  24. That is very pretty. Great cutting, finishing and photographing.
