  1. Great cutting. I ought to try some of the larger ones just to get some use out of my nice bandsaw that never gets used. I feel sorry for the poor thing.
  2. Alot of work, but what a great idea. I had a set when I was a young boy. I think it helped develop my love for wood working.
  3. There are many possibilities in Steve Goods' catalog. Just search "valentine". https://www.stevedgood.com/catalog/index.php if you don't find itin valentine search "heart"
  4. Very pretty cross, Charlie. Thanks for sharing the pattern, hope I can do it justice.
  5. Welcome to the village, and thanks for the great introduction. I have always thought the "Men sheds" I read about in Australia is a great idea and would be a lot of fun.
  6. Here is a good place to look. https://www.mcmaster.com/products/screws/thumb-screws-2~/stainless-steel-low-profile-knurled-head-thumb-screws-9/ You will really enjoy the new saw.
  7. Somehow, "very peaceful" describes it for me. Nice work.
  8. Sometimes, older free plywood is better than what is currently available on the market. So is a lot of other wood that was used in furniture and cupboards.
  9. Welcome aboard. If you get into serious scrolling you will want to upgrade to a newerer saw. That one only takes pinned blades. You cannot do fine fretwork with it. But may be suficient for what you plan on cutting with it.
  10. That looks like a lot of work! they will be well received.
  11. That bellows is $48.95 https://www.advmachinery.com/products/hegner-part-number-017-bellows?_pos=1&_sid=4db1acb96&_ss=r Didn't @OCtoolguy go to a auto parts store and buy a boot for some part of a car to use as a bellows? Was much cheaper than Hegners. My Herner is 15 years old, I scroll alot, would not feel bad if I had to replace the bellows even at $49. It has huffed and buffed a long time.
  12. @MarieC I used 1/8" BB. I stack cut the manger part three at a time. Lost some fragile pieces on a couple while cleaning and had to recut another stack. Stack cut the holder two sets at a time. They are 1/4" thick. I hope they survive shipping.
  13. A lot depends on where you live. Is it a 22", variable speed with stand? And it depands on how bad you want it. Tell us more about it. I went and looked at market place in my area, $600 is not way high, if it is in good shape, well cared for and has stand/light/maybe other accessories. The 18" ones go for less, and many have been for sell for a long time.
  14. Welcome to the village! Building boats has always been my dream. I did build a skin-over-frame kayak. It was great fun to build, but my back would not take the sitting position. I have the hull and running gear built and for a little 12' sailboat sitting in my garage. All I need to finish is to build the mast and sails. Afraid, I will not get it done. Hopefully someone will want to finish it up. Have had plans for several others, but life kept getting in the way. Now I am just plan too old! But scrolling keeps me satisfied now and very enjoyable for me. You are correct, figuring out the blades was the most difficult for me. I just kept trying different ones until I settled on about 5 variations I like and work best for me.
  15. That saw did not near that if he is talking todays prices. I bet it cost closer to $1000 back in those days. I guess I disagree with his logic. It is still 30 years old.
  16. Great cutting!
  17. Nice clean cutting, you are on your way now!

  19. @Hudson River Rick The pattern is from scrollsawartist.com. "Nativity sceen #3". It is a Sue Mey pattern
  20. My Christmas cards for the immediate family are almost complete. I have to get some cardstock to glue to the back of each with a Christmas greeting, I am hoping my wife will write. No one could read my writing.
  21. Been watching the "Viking" series also? Nice cutting on the piece.
  22. Well worth your effort! They are very nice. I love segmentation,, it is my poor man's intarsia.
  23. Those are really nice. I am thinking I will have to steal your idea and make a couple. They would make great stocking stuffers.
