  1. When I need ideas for making something, I go to youtube. I almost always find what I want or ideas that get me to where I need to go.
  2. Don't feel bad. I have wasted countless hours trying to master Inkscape to no avail. If I could just get a handle on what all the commands do and when/why to use them, it would be fantastic. I wish someone offered a one day class on the basics. I'd pay for it gladly.
  3. It's going up for about $400. More if it was a variable speed. Includes the stand.
  4. Thanks Kevin, I did talk to Wolfgang about it and he said it would not be possible. But, I won't take no for an answer until I have done all the due diligence of talking to folks. He said I'd have to change the motor and add all the electronics. That just doesn't seem right but who am I to argue? I'd rather just toss it out there to see if that is really true. I'm going to clean it up and sell it more than likely. I don't have room for 3 saws much less 4. But, it's hard to pass up a deal. I had to drive about 4 hours round trip to get it but at that price, it was still a deal.
  5. I picked up another saw yesterday. It's a Hegner Multimax 18. $40. Funny thing is it's a single speed but late enough in mfgr that it has the front tension release arm. It's been well used but runs smooth. Not sure what speed though. Seems pretty fast. Anybody here know anything about this saw? It has the same switch box like the variable speed saws but with just the on-off switch. It would be nice to make it a variable speed saw. Probably can't but thought I'd ask.
  6. I'll try this on my Hegner as it can run the slowest. I've been too busy to get back to this project. Maybe this weekend.
  7. Thanks Jim. Beautifully said.
  8. J.T., I have missed you and all your sage advice. Please give some tbought to rejoining us here at the Village. Losing Les has been hard on me but if you return it might take away some of the hurt.
  9. Burn up two blades or succeed. One of the two.
  10. That's the first one I made but to me, the kerf needed to be wider.
  11. Brenda, I told them about SSV and that they should tune in and read them all. They will at another time. Thanks.
  12. Thanks Travis. I know this one will gather many posts and replies. Les was one of a kind both here and in his regular life. He and I have shared many late at night stories. I'll miss him tremendously.
  13. I messaged his daughter to tell her and all of Les's family how sad we all are and to let them know how he effected each of our lives. And that he was loved by many here at The Village. She is very greatful and says thanks very much.
  14. I have to agree. I finally gave in and got vaxxed. Now, with it hitting this close to home I'm glad I did.
  15. I talked with one of Les' daughters last night. She said Faye was better and was at his side when he passed. The family is in total shock.
  16. He & I had become very close evev though we were 1200 miles apart. Dang!
  17. I just got word that Les passed away yesterday. Brad (Scrollsaw703) just texted me.
  18. I really love what you did here. Very unique and clever. A fun project.
  19. I love them both but the top with white letters stands out better. You did a great job on them. I wish I had enough wall space for all the neat stuff folks here make.
  20. Beautiful work. Very delicate.
  21. Will do. Thanks!
  22. So, if I get covid, I might lose weight? That would be a "lose-win-lose" situation I guess.
  23. Good to see something from you Sycamore67. It's been too long. I finally gave in and got vaxxed too.
  24. I heard from him the other day and he said they were going to insert a breathing tube so I have a feeling he's not up to posting here. He and Faye are in serious condition right now. Prayers appreciated.
  25. I use 1/2" tubes and they hold gross of blades. I bought a set from Amazon that is a plastic rack with 60 tubes for about $15. To edit: I checked my tubes and you are correct. They don't hold a gross of blades. I was thinking they did. Ooops!
