  1. Sort of a "sand bar" ?
  2. I recommend a piece of anti-fatigue mat on the floor and then set the stand on it. I have all my saws sitting on it and they have very little vibration. It looks like you have a concrete floor so that would help a lot.
  3. That might be just what I need. I've never been able to cut a straight line with any kind of saw.
  4. That's using your head. I never would have imagined that.
  5. The first Corvette I ever rode in was a 57 with fuel injection. My buddy Lil John Lombardo had it and took me for a ride. Fastest car I had ever been in up til then. A few years later he took me for a ride in his fiverglass T bucket with a 409 in it. Did a wheelie and scared the bejeebers out of me. The good old days before the "rice burners".
  6. Yes, it would be nice if everything didn't have a prop. 65 warning on it. Sanity will return at sone point. Praying for the recall to be successful. As for saws, or anything else for that matter, when you have 30 plus million people all crowded together you're bound to find whatever you want. Except mineral spirits.
  7. There are a ton of great saws near me right now. 2 Hegners in the right price range. One of them has all the things that make the saw great and she just lowered the price to $300. I actually wrote to her and advised her that she was pricing it too low and should hang in for a while at her original price. There is one just like it on Marketplace for $700 so at $500 she was a very great price.
  8. I've spent most of my afternoon cruising the web to see if I could find any more info on your saw. I was just about to write to you and tell you that you have the only one ever sold when I ran across one in Texas that was for sale 8 months ago. I have no idea whether they ever sold it but here is a link to their ad. You might contact them to see if they have the owner's manual. I did also find a manual online that they wanted $0.95 to download. So, there is still hope. By the serial number on yours and theirs, they are only about 9 apart if I'm seeing your correctly. https://www.5miles.com/item/VzalPV2Rbx9PpQYe/craftsman-professional-20-in-scroll-saw-variable-speed
  9. These saws are considered low end and have probably frustrated more new scrollers. But if you have the patience and learn to use it, when you upgrade to a better saw, you will be amazed at what you have learned and what you will be able to do with a better saw. Many new scrollers have missed out on a great hobby because of a bad saw.
  10. Did you open the pdf that I added? That's your manual.
  11. I'm waiting to see if the OP returns. So many times they drop in, ask a question and then are never seen again. Double posted, Deleted.
  12. So you use your "clutch" foot instead of your "gas & brake" foot huh?. I use my right foot even though I'm left "footed".
  13. There is no knob. It's all done with the tension lever. But from the parts breakdown it shows a threaded rod at the rear that is enclosed. I might be inclined to drill a hole through the case at the back and install longer rod with a knob so as to add or decrease the tension at that point similar to how you set the tension on a Hegner and Excalibur. Not a hard job.
  14. Ok, here is what I found. It seems that the number plate on your saw is either wrong or it was replaced by another saw. I found this manual online and I think it's your saw. All the tensioning is done with the lever by turning it one direction or the other. mmh.pdf
  15. Welcome to the Village. I personally can't offer any first-hand information. But it has been my experience so far that there is an owner's manual/guide for everything on the internet. I'd be surprised that there isn't one for your saw. From your pics it appears that you have a flip lever to release tension for blade changes but there should be a knob at the rear of the saw for applying/adjusting the tension. I'll see if I can find a manual and if I can I'll post the link. Best of luck with your new hobby.
  16. That 625 lb pallet looks like a good way to go. You get some wood to cut too. Lol.
  17. One more question....what type of rags are good for staining? I need to get something as I don't have any tee shirts to plunder.
  18. Where do you folks buy tack rags? I bought something called tack cloth at H/D and it is so sticky you can't wipe anything with it. It just drags and won't move. Any suggestions?
  19. Thanks Bill. Always nice to hear someone's real-life experience. If anything, I have learned that if I'm going to do any cutting on hard wood, take the time to apply the packing tape.
  20. That looks like a pretty nice saw. I have a couple of Wen products and so far, I'm very happy with them. I did have a problem with my Wen air cleaner. It has a remote control and every once in a while, it would turn itself on and run while I was out of the shop. For God knows how long. Anyway, I contacted their customer service and they sent me a new board and remote for it. No questions asked. Except for proof of purchase. Their customer service is as good or better than any I've come across for the last few years. Let us all know how you like it.
  21. What you might try is if you mount it on a mobile base, roll it onto a piece anti-fatique mat. It'll settle into the mat and should resolve any vibration. That's how my saws are all sitting but without that type of mobile base. I only have wheels on one end, the back end, and they are 7 inch wheels. I have i corporated PVC on both sides as my "wheel barrow" lifts to move my saws around. They are both on homemade stands of 2x4's.
  22. I always thought the same thing Chris. Makes no sense. I spray my blades with WD40. Lol.
  23. Don, I've been trying to help a fellow on Facebook. He is doing compound cutting in maple and purpleheart, making a chess set. I told him to use a #5 skip tooth or superskip tooth blade. Can you advise on what I told him? I'd hate to lead him astray. Since you mentioned exactly what he is doing I thought I'd ask. Thanks for your help.
  24. Not a matter of left handed or right handed. It's a matter of which eye is dominant. I am left eyed.
  25. Do you sit directly behind your saw or to the right side? I find that I can't sit directly behind my saws. I'm left eye dominant and find that I need to sit so that my left eye is in line with the saw blade. I have two of the foot switches from Harbor Freight but just bought one of the Wen switches on Amazon for $14 dollars. It's just like the ones that come from Hegner. Very low profile. https://www.amazon.com/WEN-WA0392-15-Amp-Momentary-Woodworking/dp/B08BZX4XGY/ref=asc_df_B08BZX4XGY/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=459657803259&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=9991099292097484126&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9031544&hvtargid=pla-960380522309&psc=1
