  1. Yup, sure did. Right at 4am. We usually have a test of the system the first Friday of the month at 12 noon. It was off by exactly 8 hours. Somebody messed with the system and the clock had been switched to GMT instead of PDT.
  2. Ok, got it. I just wasn't expecting a jocular reply.
  3. I know you understood what you wrote, but it went right over my head.
  4. I have a very old glue gun that is "HUGE" and my wife bought a tiny one that is too small for my hands. So it made me wonder what you fine folks are all using. I just looked at the Dremel product line and it seems they no longer make one. I would like something that is mid-sized and heats fast. I might even go for one that uses the little glue sticks rather than the larger format. So, anybody have any suggestions? Thanks.
  5. I agree. It's only fair to the buyer/customer to know what they are buying.
  6. Thanks Bill.
  7. What other forum was this topic discussed? Can you provide a link to it?
  8. I'm going take my Ex apart this summer and do a complete lube/inspect service on it. I really don't expect to find any problems as it runs so quiet and smooth. I just want to set my mind at ease that all the bearings have good adequate grease. It will give me a chance to measure the sleeve lengths too.
  9. I'm working with Bob Duncan as we speak on getting bearings & sleeves so we can find out definitively if there is a difference in the Pegas parts as opposed to the Dewalt parts. The Ex manual gives actual sizes of the sleeves but I don't have anything to compare to without taking my saw apart. You mentioned once that you either have or have access to a full set of Dewalt brgs & sleeves so once we get the parts in hand we can compare them. Keep your fingers crossed.
  10. I know this is not the "approved" method but if you can see where the nut should be at when properly adjusted, take the threaded shaft out and lightly peen the threads in that area to "fatten" them up a bit. It might save having to buy a new shaft and nut.
  11. I guess I missed that. Sorry.
  12. If you keep your eyes open sometimes you can find a deal that includes shipping. The Deltas are the same saw as Dewalt mostly. Check Grizzly, Amazon, and Home Depot.
  13. One thing comes to mind here. If you buy this saw for $300 and pay $30 shipping, you are only $100 or so from a NEW Delta which is basically the same saw. Why not go new with 5 year warranty?
  14. Very nice design. My saw is an early one without the perforated table but I can see that this would work. Thanks for posting.
  15. Welcome Hendo. You have found the best forum on the internet for the hobby of scrolling. I'm directly opposite from you here in So. Cal. Best of luck. Enjoy the hobby and DO post more pics of your work.
  16. About 4-5 years ago, I decided to do what you are doing. I really didn't know anything about type 1 or 2 so in that case, ignorance was bliss. Anyway, I found a guy not far from me who had a type one with the old tubular style stand and light. He was asking $300. I offered him $200. We settled on $250. I brought the saw home and really knew nothing about them. After cleaning it all up and adjusting it, I set out to using it. After that, I did a lot of reading here on SSV and learned alot about my saw. I also watched the 4 part video that Bob Brokaw/Gwinnette Woodworkers did on Youtube. I took mine all apart and did the whole clean and grease thing with synthetic grease. I found no bad bearings or sleeves. Something to look out for. Anyway, long story short, that saw ran and worked like a champ. I did finally sell it when I bought my Excalibur but it was a great saw. If you found one for that price, I'd try to get it cheaper but if it's in really nice pristine condition, go for it. If it doesn't have a stand or light, I'd have to step back and really dicker on it. Of course your location will make a huge difference. I live where there are 40 million people so there are a lot of used anything on Craigslist. I never have a problem finding anything if I'm patient. Best of luck. And, by the way, introduce yourself and fill out the profile info so we know where you are located. Welcome to the Village.
  17. Yeah me too. It was difficult to "bite" that $100 bullet. I did get mine for under $90 and free shipping though. But still, that's a lot of cans and bottles.
  18. Thanks for posting Denny. They look great.
  19. I couldn't cheer for the Chiefs. They have knocked the Broncos out of the running too many times.
  20. Thanks Don, you reminded me about the NexusFont program and I have taken the time to learn how to use it. It is really a neat program and you can create a font file collection for most any subject matter. Now, I have a place to store all the fonts that I might want/need for scroll saw projects. Thanks again. It does take a bit of learning but all-in-all it's pretty easy.
  21. Need more info. A detailed description of everything involved. Wood, thickness, blades, age of saw. So many things come to mind. But more than likely the controller board. Could be bad, worn brushes in motor.
  22. Your work is very impressive. I agree with the spray lacquer.
  23. Thanks everybody. Your words of encouragement motivate me.
  24. Amen Melanie! But, the next time, if there is a next time, I have a much better way of going about it. At least now I know it can be done. I wasn't sure in the beginning. I might have to alter the size of those 20 panels a bit but that would not be too difficult. And, the next one will be made of home-milled lumber so that I have some adjust-ability. And I would make the middle round piece thinner by maybe an 1/8th inch. I think it would look better. If I wasn't such a cheapskate, I'd have ordered some more wood and made a larger top too. This one is going to be tough to cut any decorative design to the edge and not cut into the dado that holds the upper inner retaining ring. I'm going to have to make friends with the local copy shop so that I can get some larger patterns printed. LOL.
  25. If I had a lathe that would be true.
