  1. I watch Facebook Marketplace all the time for used tools etc. There is a person on there that is cutting NFL team logos on his/her scroll saw and selling them for $50 each. Desk ornaments or whatever. I did write to them yesterday to warn them that they are treading in dangerous waters in that they are so blatantly advertising them for sale on a venue that goes worldwide. It won't take long for someone from the NFL to see their ad and come after them.
  2. Excellent idea. I like it. Thanks for all the great description of how you did it and the pics too. I'll have to do some thinking on my situation. I have a different switch but it should still work as yours did. This is going to be an interesting topic. I hope others chime in with their configurations also. Right now, my biggest move will be to find the right chair. Then I can worry about how to access the switch. More to come.
  3. I just tried it every way I could think of. But, no go.
  4. So glad you are safe. Thanks for the update & map. Prayers for all of you folks "down under".
  5. He must have taken his site down. Or his server is out of order or ????????
  6. I have purchased from Anderson Plywood in Anaheim, Ca. and they cut it for me to put in my little Scion XB when I had it. They are a great company and the owner is a Vet with a small museum in his place of business. Anyone who actually visits there will be given the tour if they ask. http://www.aitwood.com
  7. Or you can get a nut of the same thread pitch and epoxy it to a flat board, drill a hole through the board and have a good jig.
  8. Where are you? There is a great source here on the West coast.
  9. Jim, I'm not sure just how mechanically inclined you are but if you once take the time to watch the Bob Brokaw series of videos on your saw and do the service on your saw, you can keep it in humming operation. I did all the required things to my Dewalt prior to buying my Excalibur. When I sold it, I knew the next owner got a great running saw. I told the buyer that if anything ever went wrong with it to get in touch with me and I'd help them fix it.
  10. I have read many reports regarding the service that folks have gotten from their Dewalt Service Centers and not much good was ever said. Well, I wanted to give credit where credit is due. I have a Porter-Cable router, model number 1101, that my grandfather bought new way back before I was born. I'm 76 years old. He left it to me when he passed away and I have used it many times. But, the last time I used it, last Sunday, I dropped it. Unfortunately it landed on the aluminum housing where the brush holder is located on one side. It dinged the aluminum but it also shattered the black plastic/bakelite cap that holds the brush in place. My heart sunk. So, I started searching for parts and found nothing was available for a power tool that old. I did find out though that Dewalt/Black & Decker/Porter-Cable are all under one corporate umbrella now. So, I found that the service center is about 45 miles from me. I gave them a call and got hold of a very nice young lady and explained my situation. She asked me to hang on and she went and found a person who had vast knowledge about the older tools. It turns out that the same cap is used on many other older tools and they had 5 of them in stock at $2.20 each. So, I ordered 2 of them. They shipped them to me in a box by U.P.S. and didn't charge me any shipping. A total cost of $4.74. I couldn't be happier. I did call out to the center and got hold of the person who is in charge of that department and gave them a great big thank you and made sure that those 2 people got the credit they deserve. So, I hope those of you who have to contact their Dewalt Service Center have the same good fortune that I did. My center is located in Ontario, Ca. Do a google search for it and give them a try the next time you need parts for any of those 3 brands. Ok, I'll get off my soapbox now.
  11. I will be following this thread. I have looked at that same sander. Pics please.
  12. I'm really sorry to hear that. Where I live, and many of the places I've been, I've had nothing but great experiences with one or both of these stores. My closest friend worked in a couple of H/D stores and related many heartwarming stories that he experienced. It has to have something to do with your location and the shortage of good well intentioned people to manage those stores. Bad attitudes are very difficult to overcome and our country has become home to some of the worst. I'm truly sad to hear what you said. A sad sign of the times we live in.
  13. I take it you're not close to a Lowe's?
  14. Wow, 15 minutes away. Thanks. Somehow I missed their "home page". I must be getting old.
  15. I just buy it at Lowes and they cut it no charge. I made screen door covers for our 5th wheel when we were on the road. Let the sun in but kept the cold out.
  16. Scott, you mentioned in your video that the company is in California. I looked at their entire website but could find no information on who/what/where they are. Can you possibly supply some info on the company. Since I live in So.Cal. I thought I might contact them and see about picking one up at their location and maybe talk to someone. Thanks. Also, where did you get the software and how much was it? Does any software come with the unit or are you on your own for that part?
  17. Try Lexan. It is far better than Plexiglass.
  18. Or hit the head!
  19. I'd like to know how you drink coffee with your dust mask on. If you aren't wearing a mask, the other stuff doesn't matter. As has also been said, catching the dust at the source with a vac is the primary thing to do. If you are hanging over your saw cutting, you are breathing in a ton of dust. Once it gets into your lungs it never comes out.
  20. That's the same one I have in my 9 x 13 shop. And yes it does work well.
  21. Thanks for that great explanation. Pics are always helpful. By the way, I posted a long while back on how to reroute the wire coming out of the side of that foot switch so that both wires come up the same place. It really helps to keep both wires in the same orientation. I hated that wire coming out of the side. It was always getting in the way. I will have to check our Costco for the chair. Thanks again.
  22. That's an excellent idea. Thank you.
  23. That's a very nice chair. Can you offer up any info on it? Also, do you use a foot switch? If so, how? I have a shop stool that I have been using for my Hawk but I haven't come up with a suitable place to mount my foot switch. Any ideas?
  24. Just for the heck of it, I decided to clean out my DD. It had quite a bit of fine dust in the bottom of it. Tomorrow I'll open up my Fein vac and see what it looks like. It has a thick hepa filter in it. The bucket on my Dustopper appears to be catching quite a bit of my table saw sawdust. I use it for that primarily. I have hooked it up to my Ridgid spindle sander and it works great on it.
  25. Well, today I had NO BUSINESS working with the router. I'll take another run at it tomorrow. I have improved my circle jig so that it can't move on me. I might even have figured out a way to save my two boards. Not sure yet. I'll keep you posted.
