Thanks Bill. I have been thinking about building something like those. I have to enclose my driveway first. Too many "shoppers" driving by to allow me to feel easy about putting things out there over night. I now have a security light, and I installed a Wyze camera that I can monitor on my phone. I'm going to install another one on our front porch. If you don't know about them, check out Wyze.com. Great little cameras for $20. They store video for quite a while with a 32 gig chip.

What brand/type did you buy Les? I had a Ryobi at one time but sold it. Now I have the Ridgid dual sander. I love it.

Time to take it apart and do a thorough cleaning of it's internals. I've done mine a few times. Not a big thing.

Normally I would agree with you. But this is like walking into a dark room and having to "feel" my way through. The original plan was 5" in diameter and had 8 of those panels. I decided to enlarge it to make a centerpiece/basket. It will have a base of 10", 20 panels and a top about 10". But the panels are held in place by a hidden ring that is rabbetted into the under side of the top and notched into a sub-base on top of the base. All these pieces have had to be calculated off the original plans and trying to stay within the available woods. I did get a special milling done on 10" wide walnut planed to 1/2" thickness. I wish now that I had ordered it from 12" lumber. Once I post pics of the finished piece, it will be more understandable. To retain some strength, I'm cutting that hidden part out of 1/4" BB and staining it to match the walnut. That's the one part that I am still not sure about. I have no experience with staining. Someone suggested Watco oil in walnut. I'm going to start there and do some experimentation on scraps. Fingers crossed.

I have a bandsaw and a planer but haven't gotten into milling my own lumber yet but this will be the year. I have many things that have been waiting in the wings.

Les, take the time to contact Chris at Cherokee Wood Products. He will work with you on shipping and if you put together an order of enough stuff, it becomes the best way to go. They really do have a nice selection to choose from and will do custom milling for you if you need something special. I just recently had them mill some 10" walnut for me down to 1/2" thickness that they don't normally stock. I forget what the whole order cost me but it was worth the price to get what I needed. I'm going to start milling my own stuff one of these days.

I just found one near me that is an old 1986 single speed that is offered at $200. I contacted the seller and explained that their saw is going on 40 years old, it lacks all the latest upgrades and is not a variable speed. With all that said, I'd pay $100 after I inspected it and did some cutting with it. They'll probably tell me to go away but I thought what the heck.

I would say that it may be scrolling in the cold on top of a cold table. If you can find a way to warm everything up it may help you to keep on scrolling. I'd have to give it a good fight first.

I've been having to really clean my blades lately and even rubbing them on some 400 sandpaper. It seems to be something common to the Pegas clamps/blades. It just started happening so I have to blame it on that oil you mentioned.

I'm tempted just to drive up their and have lunch or something sometime. But, after the last time we drove up to the Reagan Library, I told Barb that it would be a long while before I want to fight that traffic again. Going up isn't too bad but the return trip is horrendous. We'll see.

I went to C/L in Ocala just to see your saw and see that you have the opportunity to get more than I mentioned. It seems that saws are going for more there than they are here. Far too many to choose from here at times. Right now though, there is only on Hegner in my area and the guy want's $550 for it. I tried to get him to come down but he's going to stick to his price. He's had it on there for a couple of months so I guess he's in no hurry. I offered him $200 but he said NO!

After futzing with my printer/copier and the Acrobat software, I did finally figure it out. Stuff like this presents enough of a challenge to me that I can't just take it somewhere for someone else to fix. I gotta do it myself. And, I finally did. Thanks to all.

I know the one you are talking about and I heard that they were no where near as effective as the Dust Deputy.

Yeah, it's the same reason my wife gets on me about stuff. She always says, "let it go" don't be a "know-it-all" but I just can't. Sorry Dan, didn't mean to get in your stuff. I'm having a terrible time to print out a pattern that was sent to me by an engineer friend who was helping me until he got too busy. He did it in some sort of CAD program I think and he sent me the pdf but as it appears in the pdf it's too small in diameter. I enlarged it using Adobe Acrobat but when I try to print it, it comes out the size he sent to me. I enlarged it by 135% which is perfect and saved it as such but it still comes out too small. If anybody can steer me in the right direction, I'd sure appreciate it. Thanks Melanie.

I know you folks are probably getting bored with my pics but I just thought I'd put up a couple more to start the year off. I'm making a bowl/basket/centerpiece for our dining table and I'm really having a hard time getting it done with all the end of year interruptions by my partner in life. Anyway, tomorrow, I'm going to set up my table saw and cut the blanks for the top, bottom and 2 center holders for these 20 side panels. Each one of these represents almost an hour of cutting. The hard part now is figuring out the circumference for those pieces so that all 20 of these will fit. In between doing these, I had to do 8 more for a votive holder gift that I showed the other day. I'll soon be able to post pics of a finished piece. I hope anyway. Thanks for your patience.

I wish you were closer to me. I know we could come to a price that we both liked. Your saw looks like it's pristine. BUT, it doesn't have the quick release tension lever and that is a big deal. Just for your own information's sake, I bought a 1991 Hegner w/stand & light in mint condition for $300 near where I live in So Cal. So with that said, the most I'd pay would be in the $200 range. But there are many people who don't know what to look for and only know the name and it's excellent reputation so start at $400 and see where it goes. Sorry that you must leave the hobby. My wife has RA so I think I know what you are dealing with. Not fun! Happy New Year to you.
