  1. She was beautiful! So sad! Life without her will never be the same!
  2. It's not for MY use. It's for everybody's use. I just enjoy knowing who, where, age range, and saw type/brand. I don't care what you do/did for a living. I don't care about kids/grandkids. Only things that pertain to our hobby. I honestly think this has gone off the rails and I truly am sorry for bringing it up.
  3. Funny but useless info.
  4. Hmmmmmmm! I wonder how you go about "deleting" a topic. I can see that I have opened a can of worms here. Oh well, just wanted to try to help someone out but it's not to be.
  5. It's not like I'm asking for their S.S. # or credit history. Just the minimum would be so helpful. Most folks have done it without pain but the newbies seem to drop in, ask a question and then just sit back. That's all. Nothing too difficult. I'm almost sorry I brought up the subject.
  6. Now, how tough was that? Thanks. I do like seeing a persons location right under their avatar. It makes things easier. At least for someone as old as me.
  7. That would be a matter of opinion. Just sayin........
  8. Well, just for an example, someone comes on here and asks the best place to buy one thing or another. Let's say just for the sake of it, they live in the U.K. If we don't know that, how can we offer any sort of advice? I recommend all the time for folks to check Craigslist for used tools. It helps to know what area of the U.S. or other country they live in to be able to offer any kind of suggestions. That's all.
  9. They all come here for a quick answer to a question. It would help to know their location because sometimes the answer to their questions will depend on where they are. Even here in the U.S. location means a lot. How long does it take to fill in a profile? 2 minutes tops.
  10. I think location helps a lot.
  11. Ah Les, your mind seems to wander toward the "dark side".
  12. You don't need a project. Just take notice of when you step on the peddle, does it start immediately or is there that half second pause?
  13. There have been numerous times where I have gone to a poster's profile to see mainly where they are located. Secondly to see what saw they are using and thirdly to see where they fall in age group. Other than people taking the time to "Introduce" themselves in the Introduction forum, too many people don't take the time to fill in their profile. You all know who you are so get busy and tell us a bit about you. Just sayin..........
  14. The "soft start" refers to a slight hesitation when you first hit the "go" switch. Whether a foot peddle or just the on/off switch, the saw doesn't run immediately. It has a slight hesitation. I could live with that but once it started and came up to the set speed, my saw would not run at that speed. It sort of hunted around that speed. I couldn't get used to it.
  15. Sometimes I amaze myself. Lol!
  16. I'm in awe. I follow a line, she follows a vision!.
  17. Do a google for Gwinnette Woodworkers. They have a lot of youtube videos. Bob Brokaw did a 4 part series on servicing the bearings. Very good videos.
  18. No Kevin. Mine is in a small plastic bottle with a flip spout. It's a clear yellowish oil like 3n1. Not a spray. This is the stuff. A gallon would service this entire forum group.
  19. Thanks for your input here. I had a Hegner and was never happy with the way it ran. It did have the "soft start" that everybody talks about. My issue was that it would seem to "hunt" for the speed that I had the dial set at. I didn't have the electronic ability that you obviously have so I sold it. I'm still waiting for the right Hegner to come along and I will buy it. Now, I think I might know enough to repair that issue if it ever popped up. Thanks and good luck on your repair. Keep us all updated on how it goes.
  20. Are any of you folks familiar with Howe's Oil? I used to sell it from my tool truck. I ended up with a couple of the sample bottles. 2 oz. or 4 oz. I don't recall. Anyway, the stuff is the best oil I've come across. It will dissolve rust and it's lubrication qualities are fantastic. I have been using it for years and I still have enough left to last me at least another lifetime. If you can find a local source for it, give it a try.
  21. Dan, I've got the Dremel and have used it for some "light" sanding where I didn't want to exert too much pressure. I bought it primarily for the cutting blades that came with it. I have used them to great extent.
  22. Thanks John. You do some great work.
  23. That's the way I read it too. When I had my Hegner that is.
  24. Back in 1965 I went through a 9 month course at the GM Training Center in Burbank, Ca. we learned of the chattering problems in posidrive differentials that were solved by squeezing a tube Molylube into the diffs. I hadn't thought about that in a very long time until now. That stuff is amazing. The slipperiest stuff I've ever come across. I agree that a tiny bit goes a very long way.
