  1. It might not be a bad saw. I'd at least have to throw out an offer. 100 bucks would be my tops.
  2. It's great that your doctor was on his toes. Glad to hear that you are on the mend. Just remember "nobody gets out alive" so make the best of the time you have. Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life so get up and get going. Happy New Year to you Lawson.
  3. My thoughts exactly. SSV is the best. I've learned so much and also made some great friends. I love it here.
  4. Wow! I'm glad you got it because you did a great job on it. Stain or paint?
  5. I may not always be right, BUT I'm never wrong! At least that's what I tell my wife. lol.
  6. Les, there is usually a black box on the front of the motor that can be seen from that angle. If I recall. That saw just looks different. I thought it might be the other Hegner at first. Not the MultiMax. My memory just got up and left the room.
  7. I don't see a variable speed controller on the front either. It looks like a very clean machine but I'd have to top out at $200. It'll cost about $300-350 to update it.
  8. I'm gonna do that to mine someday. Right now, I've got other priorities for my $$$.
  9. I'm sorry that I cannot supply a brand name. This was just an off the cuff idea. I'm sure that any of those cutting mats would work. As for adhesive, I'd probably use the same stuff we use for our patterns. The other benefit will be a zero clearance hole where the blade goes through. For those of us who have saws with a steel table, the idea that Jim came up with a while back about using the thin magnetic material as a table covering is still something that I want to try. So far the paint finish on my EX hasn't gone away. I just keep it waxed after almost every cutting session. I'm going to get some of this cutting mat for my Hawk. So far, I've not used it enough for any of the aluminum to have rubbed off. I'm sure it would sooner or later but I did buff it out and wax it when I first brought it home after it sat in a garage for almost 20 years.
  10. How about putting a piece of that slick cutting mat down on the table with some spray adhesive? My wife has some that is very thin and has a "teflon" feel to it. She bought it at Bed, Bath & Beyond. Easy to cut to shape of table and can be changed out easily with mineral spirits. Just an idea.
  11. The bottom line here is...anything you do to protect your lungs is better than doing nothing at all. Keep it clean folks.
  12. OMG! Please put your beard back.

Yeah, I had to turn my little shop heater on too. It's tough when it gets below 60°.

I even put on two long sleeve shirts just to keep warm. I'm a sissy.

  13. I had an inkjet printer and it worked fine. Now, I have a Brother laser and it works even finer.
  14. Walmart has it for about $6 a roll. Lasts a long time.
  15. Kevin put me onto using the full page shipping labels and it does work great. I still use the see-through shelf liner on the wood but stick the label onto that. I never have a problem with pattern lift. If I have to leave the whole mess on the wood for an extended time, I might have to use a heat gun to remove it though. Not a big deal. A quick wash with MS takes care of the residue of which there isn't much.
  16. I have a Wen, a cyclone system using a Fein vac, and a box fan with filter. I still wear a dust mask. The Dust Deputy/Fein would be my best suggestion as a starter. The Wen works well as an air cleaner but capturing most of the dust at the source is the best idea. I edit to add this, my shop is all of 9 x 13. In such a confined area, capturing the dust is imperative.
  17. That seems to be a dilemma that many of us suffer from. I'd like to relocate. My wife says she's perfectly happy where we are and keeps throwing it in my face that we are 76 years old and have no business moving. I might be 76 but I refuse to believe it. I am wanting to move somewhere that has a much lower cost of living so we could afford to do some things before we perish. But, like you said,............
  18. Great idea. Thanks.
  19. Denny, are you going to service any parts for the Pegas saws? There has been some talk about bearings and sleeves. It would be nice to know where to get them. And if they will fit the green Excalibur saws. Any info at all would be appreciated.
  20. Don't sell yourself short Les.
  21. Aw shucks. Thanks.
  22. No. Just luck.
  23. Me too but I don't do do metal work.
  24. Yes, I was pleasantly surprised. Thanks Dan.
  25. No Kevin, I am very slow to finish anything. Takes me a month and a day or more. So far, my projects have been limited but I'm going to branch out soon. I have a lot that I want to make but my wife keeps having me make the same stuff for gifts. Now that I'm done with gifting, maybe I can get back to what I WANT to do. Oh, and the two woods are walnut and mahogany. Nothing but natural Danish oil and a light spray of shellac.
