I totally understand and agree with you but this is beyond the "soft start" that is built into the machine. It does the soft start and then after a second or two, it noticeably slows down then picks back up and is fine from that point on. The only time that I haven't seen it happen is when I have the controller set to full speed. Then, it does it's slow start and goes without any further slowdown. Ray

I'm sorry RJ but this is where you and I would part company. I can't stand the driver of the 18 car. I won't even say his name is dislike him so much. But that's ok because Baskin-Robbins made a fortune providing 31 flavors for everybody to enjoy. I do love seeing his car going into the wall but unfortunately, he takes my guy along with him. Bummer! Ray

I am using the Hegner supplied foot switch. I will eliminate that from the equation and see what happens. Thanks. Ray

I am back to my original question regarding the hesitation on my Hegner. What I found was I was trying to start it in the lowest speed setting and it was very slow starting. Now, after using it a bit, I have found that unless it's in the highest speed, it will still hesitate prior to starting, as it is supposed to. But then after a couple of seconds running it will hesitate again then continue on. After that, it runs fine. Does this sound like a controller problem? I hope not. Ray

Thanks Kevin. I'll check that out. When I bought the sample pack, it came with 5 different configurations and if I recall a dozen of each. That's how I ended up with the UR blades that I have. I like these because they have the reverse teeth the entire length of the blade. They don't seem to try to "lift" the wood off the table like the other reverse blades do. Ray

All the different pots that are available usually apply to other things like shaft length, degrees of rotation, thread diameter for the housing hole. As long as you know the ohm rating on the pot and can measure the shaft length and hole size the only thing left would be the amount of rotation. It should be fairly easy to match it up. Also, the folks who sell on eBay will answer questions when you take the time to ask. I've had good response times in most cases. Ray

Kevin, if you look at the picture with the hose connected to the saw, that is a rubber couple that I bought at H/D. The end of the vac hose just plugs into that. I can have it out and using it for shop clean up in less than 10 seconds. It is very portable in that aspect. I don't have to move the vac as it reaches wherever I need to go including outside the shop. The door to my shop is to the left of the vac in the picture so I can use it outside with my portable table saw or ???. It really works well for my situation. I had some extra shop vac fittings from one of my other vacs that died. I took a heat gun and softened them up a bit so the Fein hose end would fit them too. The Fein accessories are waaaaaay too expensive. Ray

Thanks. It works great. I'm going to put something similar together for the Hegner. It should be easy. The hard part was in having the patience to wait for a deal to come along on the Fein. I was not going to plunk down $500 for a vacuum cleaner. No way Jose. Ray

Yes, you are so right. I had a tough time with the tight and circular turns. Many screwups. So, what you are saying is, I should be using a smaller blade like a FD-UR 3? I don't have that size. It didn't come in the sample pack. Everything is that pack is a #5. I asked this question because I want to order some more blades but before doing that, I wanted to find out if that same type blade was made by any of the other mfgrs. I will get hold of Mike's and order some smaller blades in the UR configuration. Thanks. Ray

I've seen them in industry. Especially around the electronics fields. I would think they would be ideal for this application. Do a Google search and I'll bet you can find them.

That's a pretty cute little system that Seyco has. Kinda pricey though. I just recently built a system for my Dewalt. I have the saw at one end of my little shop and a Fein vacuum at the other end. It sits atop a stand and is plumbed into a Dust Deputy that sits below it. I use the Fein for my shop vac to clean up everything from floor to ceiling because it has a 16 foot hose. I built the pvc system for the saw and managed to plumb it in such a way that the Fein hose just plugs into it when I want to use it. As Scrappile said, the suction noise of the pvc pipe is more than the vac noise. It comes on with the saw and turns off when the saw shuts down. It works great. I found the Fein on C/L for a great price and I think that I have about $20 invested in the pvc piping and hook up. Of course, I over spent on the DD and should have just bought the barebones unit for about $50. I now have an extra bucket, wheels and hardware. I did use the hose and 90 degree adaptor that came with it but they could have been purchased separately. Anyway, all told, I have $295 invested but that could have been $50 less. I realize that the $175 for the Fein was my lucky day. It is quiet though so well worth the investment even if you have to go with a new unit. I have shown these pics before but since this is a new thread, I'll attach them again. Ray
