  1. I agree with Kevin. We need a couple of pics so we know what you are referring to. We both have experience with green Ex's and Dewalts. The mechanisms are very similar.
  2. As long as you keep the wattage low so it doesn't produce a lot of heat. The safest way would be to use LED bulb. I use flameless candles in my projects .
  3. I highly doubt they make the boards. But you may be right. I'd still give Dewalt service a call.
  4. I never win with my wife. Maybe I'll try it your way.
  5. As long as you don't argue.
  6. I would think a call to Dewalt might be in order. They still make/sell the saw so parts should not be a problem.
  7. Yes, we can't afford to lose any more members. Too many great ones gone too soon.
  8. You might be your best listener.
  9. If you don't scroll, you'll lose your membership here. LOL.
  10. Just imagine, a Hegner is your backup. Most folks would love to have one as their primary. But I understand. I also have one and it sits unused because I have 2 Excaliburs and am more comfortable with them.
  11. Your "engineer" is showing again.
  12. My youngest grandson is adopted out of Kyzakastan. He suffers from fetal alcohol syndrome and lives in his own world.
  13. I'm envious of folks who have relatives that they are close with. I have 4 grandchildren, all adults, who share not a drop of my blood. I am not close with any of them and none of them have any interest in working with their hands. Or minds for that matter. They are content to just float through life. I was close to my Dad and one Grandfather. They both taught me many things and I inherited their spirits of creativity and mechanical ability. I fix stuff! I love making things and learning what makes things tick. I've tried to share my knowledge with my son. He doesn't live near me but we are close in our thoughts. He is a clone of me in many ways. I'm sad for many of the younger generations as they don't seem to see beyond their phones.
  14. Is that the fault of the chair or the alcohol?
  15. I'll bet that chair costs more than all 3 of my saws combined. It looks very well made. I'd be happy to own your old chair.
  16. Where do you find 1500 grit paper? I've not seen anything beyond 800.
  17. Just my 2 cents worth here. I started out with a used Dewalt. After doing the bearing service it was a great saw. I sold it when I found a used Ex. Anyway, my point is look around for a good used saw. There are many for sale around the country. I have no idea where you are but Craigslist & Marketplace are you best friends. I've bought and sold quite a few saws of the top brands. I am a "dyed-in-the-wool" cheapskate. I seldom buy anything new. Don't get in a rush. Check around and see what's available. Best of luck. I hope your situation improves.
  18. I knew they would make it right. I've had excellent service from them. I was going to suggest filling that void with some 2x material but you already have it handled.
  19. Very nicely laid out Frank. That's packing 10 pounds into a 5 pound bag for sure. I hope you are going to let Wen know about that broken base. It needs to be made better and that won't happen unless they know there's a problem. I'm sure they'll ship you a new one. Especially since this is your second attempt at getting a good DP. Thanks for all the pics. You've given me a few good ideas for how I can get more out of my small workspace.
  20. I have a 10 inch Delta and mine is too.
  21. Yeah, I'm going to build an enclosure but just haven't got anyplace for it yet. Working on enclosing my driveway.
  22. I wish my wife would let me run mine in the house. Sad!
  23. Very nice Kevin.
  24. The one thing that I miss from my very old Craftsman drill press was the spindle lock. I could pull the spindle down and just turn the little arm on the left side to lock it in any position. Very handy feature that is no long on any of the drill presses that I have looked at. If I ever run across another DP like my old one, I'll snatch it up.
  25. I like the "lazy Susan" idea. Thanks.
