Congrats on the new saw.
After you have had some time with it, could you let us know the difference between the King and the Pegas. I have the King (Excelsior)
Went back through some of the things I have cut in the past. Did these shelf sitters on Friday. I still have to sand and put a finish on them. Three are Poplar and one is Cherry.
Okay everyone, wood arrived today! @MarieC the white wood on the top is Pau Amarello and is mare yellow looking than white. Here are more pictures. Woods listed from left to right. The red palm is the one on a angle. All nicely labeled on the ends.
I was in the store when I bought the wood. They are all labeled. I am having it shipped because I had flown to Toronto unexpectedly and couldn't carry it home with me. I had one day at home before leaving for a planned vacation. I will list the woods, properly, when I get home and receive the wood. I had them delay shipping so it wouldn't arrive while I was away.
I will have to let you know next week. I am actually on a holiday now and this will be shipped home. Should have it by Thurs.
And of course, I bbought some wood here and having it shipped. This lot is Koa and Alaskan Cedar.
Most of this style of patterns are cut in Baltic Birch plywood. It has more layers than big box plywood. If bb ply is challenging to find you could look for Finnish plywood. Or a craft board that has mdf in the middle.
I always wear a dust mask and have two fans/extractors going when cutting. I wear the mask when hand sanding and have the overhead fan going. I didn't realize Sumac had lots of oils. It didn't really feel like that. I am a little concerned about the bubinga as I have heard of others, including Steve Good, being allergic.
There is no Walnut or Cherry. There is Pau Ferro, Leopardwood, Red Palm, black Palm, Paela, Nogal, Marblewood, Bubinga, Chaktekok, Movingui, Pau Amarello, and Sumac
