    Thanks for the comments. I like to mix it up. After a disappointing sale, last year, I made a decision to cut what interested me and not to try to figure out what the public wants. This is the second eye that I have cut. The first one was on a larger board of quilted Maple and included the eyebrow. I am grateful that my shop is in my basement, so not weather dependant. That being said, it is with mixed feelings when I miss a beautiful day outside. We are heading into winter now. Temp this morning was 5 C with a high of 11.

    It is quite thick, but very light. The store had it listed as Spalted Maple.

    Got these done for some upcoming shows. Poplar cut with #5 MG blade. Walrus Oil finish.

    This is an H. Botas pattern. I believe this is a piece of Spalted Maple. Finished with varathane. The original pattern has an eyebrow but this piece wasn't wide enough to allow it. I didn't want to shrink the pattern to fit because it would be way to small. I love the way the colours of the wood popped with the finish.

    That is why I like scrolling. Just glue the pattern down and cut away. No measuring!!

    I have had both eyes done. The first one was in 2009, the other in 2019. Because of the difference in vision between the eyes, and my age at the time, 20/20 wasn't an option. I still wear progressive lenses. My mid-distance is my best vision and I can go without glasses for that. However, I wear them all the time. Because of this, I didn't notice a difference when I was sawing.

    I have one project, in particular, that isn't finished. It is a multi-layered mandala. I had some "mistakes" on a couple of layers. It has been sitting for 2 years now. I am not really interested in finishing but then again, I don't really want to throw out all that wood. I was stack cutting 4 at a time.

    Thank Frank I have no desire to get into resin work. So many others also suggested that. The inside is just over 2" deep. The Koi is sitting on a 1/2" raiser. I have also decided to just leave the edges as they are.

    I just have to put a trim on the edges of the plywood. Pattern by Brad Mathews. Issue #88 of Scrollsaw magazine. Woods are White Maple, Orange Osage, Walnut, Wenge, White Oak. Rocks are white Oak, Cherry, Jatoba, Red Oak, Spalted Maple, Zebrawood, Poplar, Maple, Aromatic Cedar. Plywood shadow box. 1 coat of Osmo oil, satin finish.

    A few years ago, hubby said I had to start getting rid of my stuff. I started doing a couple of sales a year. I am not interested in doing more than that. I will make a few multiples but not many. I have some stuff that hasn't sold. It was some of my earlier stuff so it shows. I need to figure out a place to get rid of them too!
