  1. We were a little warmer here in Winnipeg....-20 with windchill -25
  2. I have some, that I purchased years ago. Turns out I accidentally purchased the "pinned" ones. I cut the pin off and was able to use it in my DeWalt. They don't seem to fit in the Excelsior. I did like them for certain applications but didn't use on a regular basis. It was usually to make a tenon fit into the hole!
  3. Another beautiful piece Frank. As Preprius said, the gap adds to the piece. Think of it as a design choice!! And only you know that it shouldn't be there.
  4. Thanks. However, I am trying not to order from a US company. Our exchange rate is now more that $1.40 and the shipping fees tend to be outrageous. Also, our postal system is on strike, so no mail, making the shipping even more expensive.
  5. It's about 15" long.
  6. I'm not sure I want to make another!
  7. There is lots of great info here. There had been a tip years ago - rest your wrists on the table. Can't push too hard then. All that being said, if it is working for you, and everything fits, why worry?
  8. Those are lovely.
  9. I just checked, online, at my local store. I am surprised. Mineral oil $1.54/100ml and the cheap olive oil $1.57/100ml.
  10. I got this finished. It will be a gift for my daughter's partner. He is a huge watch fan. Pattern from the latest SSWC magazine. Cut from Cherry. Insert purchased on Amazon after not finding anything local. Had a few issues with the side cut on the buckle. Ended up using the belt sander instead of cutting. Used a #5 MG blade. Finish is 2 coats of Walrus Oil and one coat of beeswax/mineral oil.
  11. I love Osmo. I have a red and black plus the satin clear. It is expensive but so easy to put on and uses a small amount. I will often just use one coat because it is on decorative items that will not see much, if any, handling.
  12. Looks great. We are got rain yesterday, continuing into today, which is turning into our first snow of the season. Very late.
  13. Congrats Don. They all look great.
  14. I am surprised that mineral oil is more expensive than olive oil!!
  15. Fascinating thread. Amazing how far off topic it goes. Local BDI for ice cream (Bridge Drive Inn). Brandied Peach Upside down, please. An upside down is a very thick milkshake handed to you upside down.
  16. I use mineral oil/beeswax blend. Here is another video to add to the mix!! https://toymakingplans.com/non-toxic-toy-finish-how-to/
  17. Yeah, I know. I sold them lots of travel insurance. Or you could come on up....but during our summer!!
  18. Another great piece. I wish we lived closer so I could get some airbrush lessons. I don't do well with video only.
  19. Thanks. I sanded the backside as well so it is thinner at the tip.
  20. Well done Paul. It is a lovely piece and sentiment.
  21. That was some pretty thin plywood. It sure bent easily.
  22. I am calling it Pink maple. Not really sure what type of maple it is. It was actually a semi-finished shelf I purchased earlier because of the colour.
  23. Thanks Frank. It measures 9.5" x 6". I got the Orange Osage from KJP Hardwoods.I order it in the S4S 3/4" x 2' size. I realize it might be more expensive that way, but I don't have anyway to mill the wood. https://kjpselecthardwoods.com/
