    More thoughts from me! It is always amazing, to me, how hard we are on ourselves. We never expect kids to know how to do something right away. Telling them to practice, practice, patience. We need to take our own advice. Please hang in there.

    Welcome from Winnipeg. If you have a DeWalt view the Bob Brokaw videos from the Gwinnette Woodworking youtube channel. It is loooong but very informative.

    Exactly what Wichman said. Or, if it is thick enough, leave it at a standing piece. As for a backer, you could use some heavy cardstock.

    Nice work Frank. Could you adjust the colouring around the sun. Make it look more like a setting sun.

    I saw a video that used the melted product as a finish for outdoor ornamental items. It made the fairy house waterproof. I will also point out (only because my father worked for Dow, the manufacturer of Styrofoam, that the product in the videos is "expanded polystyrene beads" not Styrofoam. "If it isn't blue it isn't Styrofoam" was the tagline through the 1960's & 70's, for sure.

    I have been at events where there is a tag put under the chair, or a plate etc. and that is the person who gets to take home the centerpiece. Lovely work. I like the mixes of wood.

    Thanks for the kind words Ralph. The best advice I could give would be to purchase one of the beginner books and just jump in. Watch some of the videos. And stress a lot!
