I have my switch on a foot stool. Rest my other foot on the frame cross bar. I got a good deal on a hawk one time and sold it as Fast as I could. Didn’t like bottom feeder, blade clamps and slow cutting. To use to my EX21 lol.
Dick you didn’t look stupid at all. You should have been in on the conversation with my sister and me when she was trying to tell me what she wanted an how it works lol. Had her bring one that she got from factory so I could copy it.
I just put one small frame together to show how it looks finished. As I stated I made 8 total. The nuts on the threaded rods are used to tighten the material. The rods go into a hole a little bigger than the rod. The threaded rods have a flat end that does into a hole in the square end of the big dowel. The 3/8” dowels slide into the dovetail trapping the material between the two dowels. Sister gets tired of working on a pattern and goes to another one. Us scrollers can understand that lol.
Some time ago I asked about staining poplar for a project my sister wanted me to do. The last picture is a cross stitch frame she brought. It was a fun project to figure out how to make all the parts. Stained golden oak. Made 21”, 23”, 4-38”, 2-55”.
Thinking about making one of the spoon rest that Steve Good posted this AM. The pattern shows cutting a raised border an gluing it to the base. So here is the question, seeing it will have to be washed would you use two part epoxy? Or other ideas. Thanks
Think about using a hand saw. If you cut with the saw vertical and then cut with it at an angle you will see that at an angle you get a more aggressive cut. Scroll saw is the same but maybe not as noticeable.
Just ordered a dog puzzle from Iggy's web page an have to say it couldn't be easier or faster. Got the download without leaving the page an took maybe a total of 1 min to do the whole thing. Wish all sites was as good! Just had to give our buddy a pat on the back.
My EX 21 has no noticeable vibration at any speed. I run mine full speed unless cutting thin wood. Than set half or less. Been scrolling for 10 years an haven’t had a blade break. Some blades have come out of the clamps due to wear or dirt.
I feel that will give it time to soak in. But as I said that is just me. Quick dip may do the trick just as good but I’am not doing 1,000 of them a year so not in a hurry.
When I do puzzles like yours I place the pieces in a throw away cooking pan like you use for turkey cooking. I use a 50/50 mix letting soak for around 10 minutes. Wipe off with paper towel an use air compressor to get the rest. As they say works for me lol.
On my EX21 (top feeder) I put the blade through the hole an with left hand I use thumb and forefinger to pull down on blade an at the same time using small finger push up on the blade clamp. With right hand tighten knob. This takes all movement out of the clamps an arms. Done it so many times I don’t even think about what I am doing.
I have seen the salt tip on TV and tryed it once. But I used to much salt and it didn’t hold. Very little is good. Also I have used the drill press. Put a flat piece of plywood on top of project then raise the table up to the chuck. Works for me.
