  1. Steve Good has a video about breaking blades. Seems the threads got worn out and the knob wasn’t staying aligned. Worth watching on his today’s post
  2. I am with you Jerry started in 2010 and have never had one to break. Maybe not pushing the blade as hard as the people who break theres.
  3. My wife restores stained glass windows and always said stop when tired or something is going to go bad. I have taken her advice! Smart husband
  4. Sit
  5. Who is he?
  6. I really like how you reversed the normal way we do things. Great idea!
  7. My wife restores an also makes new stained glass windows. She found this panel at a antique store. It was in very bad condition. She asked me to make a frame for it. It is made out of padauk with inlays of yellowheart & oak. The frame is 3 1/2” x 3/4”. This was a challenge for me because of not doing very many inlays and cutting such hard woods 1 1/2” thick. Also I used half lap joints.
  8. Look up cool and you will find his picture!
  9. Made this for my niece. Sue Mey pattern. Just a side note, I posted a topic titled “cut out & paste “ this is the project that I was working on.
  10. Maybe not enough tension.
  11. That is very strange a company as big as they are doing three bad batches.
  12. I went to picmonkey to check it out. It is a "free" 7 day trail. Then $6 to $13 a month.
  13. Thanks Spirithorse! I will check it out.
  14. Sounds like old school is the way to go if you don’t want to spend a lot of time learning software. My trouble is if I don’t do something very often I forget all I knowed. LOL
  15. I have a Sue Mey pattern that needs names & dates placed on a curve. It is a wedding pattern. Is there a easy way to place the letters on the curve without learning GIMP. photo shop or other types of software? I have been cutting out the letters and taping them to the pattern. Didn't know if there is a better way to do it without all the computer learning that is required to do just a small thing.
  16. Not to beat this topic to death but to let everyone know that I took the repaired projects back today. They are going to hang all of them in a different location out of the sun. The place they are at is a home for veterans that are having problems adjusting out of the service.
  17. Thanks everyone for the nice comments!!
  18. Three years in same place.
  19. Even in such a small shim cause problems? The other three that are made the same are as strong as the day I made them three years ago.
  20. Picture is worth 1,000 words lol. You are right it was the walnut center that came loose. It sets on shims in 4 locations 3/8” wide. An the walnut ring is 1/4” wide. Also the cherry ring sets on shims also to get the layered look.
  21. For the forth year in a row I won the woodworking division open class at our county 4H fair.
  22. I should have gave more information. These was hung up in a entrance hallway to a building. There is two side by side full glass doors for the entrance. All five of the plaques are hung in a row. Only the first two was effected. The sun must not reach the other three. The center pieces are what came loose an fell. Going to use two part epoxy this time & suggest that they be placed farther into the hallway away from direct sun light.
  23. I had a project that came apart. It was hanging were the sun was on it most of the day. I used titebond 2. Only thing I can think of is the sun heated up the glue to were it got soft. Now the question - is this possible and is there a glue that wouldn’t be effected by the heat (sun)? Thanks
  24. As Bill stated there is a set screw at the top of the blade clamp under the set lever. With the lever end pointing away from you turn the screw just until it contacts the clamp. THEN TURN 1/4”I more. This puts a preload on the tension lever. You will get the same tension every time you engage the lever. I measured the back of the top arm and turned the knob until the front was the same an level. Never touched the knob again after 8 years of using. If still having problems call Ray at Sayco. No better person to talk to about EXs.
  25. Made the chess set sametime I made this board.
