  1. A lot of the time the piece I find doesn’t look to be the missing piece but will try to see an it is the missing one.
  2. What do these knots mean?
  3. Sorry took so long to show what I am using to cut threads.
  4. I got a threading kit for the dowels an it works great. No I don’t have a lathe but would like to learn.
  5. Was you able to stack cut any of the frame? That is the type of project you can’t get paid enough for the time spent. Outstanding job!!
  6. Thanks for the information. Trying to save my sister money on a project for her. Were I am can’t find oak dowels an 1 1/4” square stock in oak. Need to make 9 crosstich frames. Brought a wood threading tool to make the adjusting parts (black in picture)
  7. I am going to stain poplar dowel rods oak. Is there anything that I would need to do to prepare before I put on the stain? Had trouble in past getting a good even color. Thanks
  8. Thanks for all the kind comments. I get so much satisfaction from making something special for people who don’t expect it.
  9. Looks really good! Going to try clay one of these days.
  10. This is a Sue Mey pattern made with ash using a colored paper glued onto a piece of plywood. Karen was the high school secretary and played piano for the church. Odd thing I knowed her for 20 years but didn’t know our birthdays was one day apart (mine on 5/24/50 hers 5/25/50. Odder yet we both was born at the same hospital together. Was probably next to each other in the nursery. So you see why I had to make it! Giving it to her sister.
  11. So very sad for your family. But outstanding work.
  12. Maybe find a consignment sale or auction to put your stuff in. You can watch people bid on your things which will give you the satisfaction of seeing the reaction. Without having to deal with people. Also putting money in your pocket.
  13. Very nice work really like the frame also!! Stomped a few turtles in my day on that game.
  14. I picked these up at my local Hobby Lobby store. Haven’t tried out.
  15. John does that business name have a meaning in Australia talk? lol
  16. Mine was all fingers also. Hasn’t been numb sence surgery.
  17. My fingers would go numb and my grip would go away and drop things.
  18. I got my copy of the woodworker’s journal Saturday and they have started to include a department in each issue about scrolling. This issue has a nice article by Carole Rothman.
  19. Has anyone else got carpal tunnel from scrolling? Never thought much about the repetitive motion of turning the clamp on the blade as many times as you do. Getting the stitches out on the 4th then back to making dust.
  20. As said mounted on the 3 way bench the saw won’t be as stable as it would on a factory stand. Side bar-I got mine for $20 at an auction that no one knew what it was lol
  21. I always say that ever you want lol. But I liked it plain. Very nice
  22. Don’t know how long to cut but I am sure I won’t be taking it apart lol. The biggest problem is that there isn’t any instructions. Had to watch the video to see how to put together. There are two different sizes of five sided pieces. Had to watch to see what stack he was using in each step. For Alexfox to come up with such a pattern shows how much of a brain he is.
  23. When I seen this pattern from Alexfox I said that looks fun. By the time I got all the pieces cut I was saying why lol. Wasn’t a hard project but I couldn’t find 4mm plywood that the pattern called for. So I got 5mm an run it through drum sander to take off 1mm. You have to be very close on your cutting for the pieces to fit snug.
  24. Yes easy to cut with just one inside cut. If cut on the lines there isn’t much sanding either. Also a good way to use scraps.
  25. Pattern from Steve Good. Made with padauk an mystery wood. Steve said it can be used for fake flowers. Wife is going to us it as a pencil holder.
